Chem101 is now Aktiv Chemistry
Justin Weinberg
Co-founder & CEO of Aktiv Learning
- February 8, 2022
When we founded 101edu in 2016, we wanted to bring active learning to the center of STEM education. Now we’re taking the opportunity to evolve our brand in order to better communicate and reinforce this message.
Welcome to Aktiv Learning , the evolution of 101edu.
Aktiv Learning’s logo brings cohesion to our identity. It features a refined, multi-color palette with shapes that represent the building blocks of learning and experience.
Chem101 will now be known as Aktiv Chemistry.
I want to reassure our entire community that this is simply a name change. It is not a change to our platform, technology, or our commitments to support and student affordability.
We thought there might be some questions so we have prepared the following Q&A:
Do I need to change my current Spring syllabus or tell all of my students to go to a different site?
No! We’ve taken extra time to make sure there will absolutely be zero disruption to current Winter and Spring courses. The existing Chem101 mobile and web applications will remain named as Chem101 until May 2022. No URLs or links will change.
Starting in May 2022, the Chem101 applications will be renamed to Aktiv Chemistry. We recommend that you prepare to change references to Chem101 to Aktiv Chemistry in your syllabus, LMS, or any other course materials for upcoming Summer or Fall 2022 term classes.
Do I need to bookmark a new website or change the emails I have on file?
While we are transitioning our websites and company emails from 101edu.co to aktiv.com, we have made sure that no website links you have relied on are broken and all emails forward to the appropriate place. There is no need to bookmark new pages or hesitate when sending messages to our old 101edu.co addresses.
What about the Chem101 listing at my campus bookstore?
We have new ISBNs available that list Aktiv Chemistry for Summer and Fall term classes. Make sure to talk to your account manager before submitting any course material ISBNs for next academic year.
Is anything changing about the company’s support or my account manager?
No! We are just as committed as ever at providing industry-leading support for both instructors and students. All current Aktiv Chemitry account managers will remain the same.
What is Aktiv Mathematics?
We’re launching an exciting new product for college math courses called Aktiv Mathematics. Math skills and preparation represent a huge stumbling block to student success in STEM. That’s why we’re going to tackle this problem head on with some breakthrough new technology to support students in courses from Prealgebra through Precalculus.
The best part? The technology built for Aktiv Mathematics will also soon be available in Aktiv Chemistry courses for math remediation. Stay tuned for more information soon.
Does having a new math product mean the chemistry product is going to receive fewer updates?
Absolutely not. We have a long and rich roadmap ahead for Aktiv Chemistry. Both Aktiv Chemistry and Aktiv Mathematics are built on the same foundational technology so many future updates will be applied to both simultaneously.
In fact, you’ll soon be hearing about some very exciting new functionalities coming to Aktiv Chemistry for this upcoming Fall term.
¹ This page may contain direct quotes that were provided at a time where Aktiv Chemistry was named Chem101. We have replaced the name Chem101 with Aktiv Chemistry to minimize confusion.
