INTRODUCTION
Schools should be a safe place for everyone but in the Philippines, students who are lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender and Queer (LGBTQ) have experienced discrimination (Human Rights Watch, 2017) and these abuses can cause deep and lasting harm (Human Rights Watch, 2017). Schools nationwide are hostile environments for a distressing number of LGBTQ students. The overwhelming majority of whom routinely hear anti-LGBTQ language and experience victimization and discrimination at school. Discrimination against LGBTQ individuals remains widespread in our country and in different countries, this leads the researchers to conduct research on this issue. In this study, the researchers explored the discrimination among LGBTQ youth senior high school students at Emiliano Tria Tirona Memorial National High School. As of now, there is no study about the discrimination of LGBTQ in the Emiliano Tria Tirona Memorial National High School community.
In order to study the discrimination of LGBTQ, this descriptive research made use of the adopted instrument from Dau, D., and Strauss, P. (2016) entitled, “The Experience of Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, and Trans Students at the University of Western Australia”. The respondents are 15 senior high school students, they were identified via stratified sampling.
Result of the discrimination among LGBTQ youth survey shows that discrimination can affect LGBTQ youth. On the other hand, the remarks of the discrimination on the LGBTQ youth revealed that most of the LGBTQ students who are discriminated felt nervous, alone, unwanted and restless. The overall results of survey data show that most of the students who have been discriminated felt its effect on their personhood and their emotional welfare.
DISCUSSIONS
The researchers know that majority of the respondents were negatively affected because of discrimination. This negative effect on the LGBTQ youth also expands on being excluded in school clubs at Emiliano Tria Tirona Memorial National High School. The respondents were also unfairly treated by the faculty staff, felt unwelcome in an academic subject, and most of the respondents felt that they are nervous, alone, unwanted and restless every time they experience discrimination. Majority of the respondents also experienced other forms of discrimination such as being treated unfairly by their classmate, verbally threatened, physically attacked, excluded in family, and this affected their ability to socialize because of the discrimination on their sexual orientation and gender identity expression.

Homosexuality is one of the most controversial contemporary issues of our time. There are a lot of arguments on the issue. Different circles have different things to say about it; ranging from the scientist, to politicians, to the religious folks, everyone seems to have a different opinion about it. Even within same circles there seems to be disagreements on the subject matter. Homosexuality is gradually gaining acceptance in different societies, recently nations like America and Ireland passed the bill legalizing same-sex marriage and serious advocacy is being made for other nations to follow suit. One of their major reasons being that homosexuality is an inherent trait and hence homosexuals should be given equal human right. But what does research actually show? Is being homosexual caused by biological or psychological factors, or an interaction between the two? What is the role of choice in being homosexual? Is homosexuality modifiable or changeable? These are the core issues this paper seeks to address.

Homosexuality is viewed by many as a social problem. As such, there is a keen interest in elucidating the origins of homosexuality among many scholars, from anthropologists to zoologists, from psychologists to theologians. Research has shown that those who believe sexual orientation is inborn are more likely to have tolerant attitudes toward gay men and lesbians, whereas those who believe it is a choice have less tolerant attitudes. The current qualitative study used in-depth, open-ended telephone interviews with 42 White and 44 Black Americans to gain insight into the public's beliefs about the possible genetic origins of homosexuality. Along with etiological beliefs (and the sources of information used to develop these beliefs), we asked respondents to describe the benefits and dangers of scientists discovering the possible genetic basis for homosexuality. We found that although limited understanding and biased perspectives likely led to simplistic reasoning concerning the origins and genetic basis of homosexuality, many individuals appreciated the complex and interactive etiological perspectives. These interactive perspectives often included recognition of some type of inherent aspect, such as a genetic factor(s), that served as an underlying predisposition that would be manifested after being influenced by other factors such as choice or environmental exposures. We also found that beliefs in a genetic basis for homosexuality could be used to support very diverse opinions including those in accordance with negative eugenic agendas.

SummaryOngoing political controversies around the world exemplify a long-standing and widespread preoccupation with the acceptability of homosexuality. Nonheterosexual people have seen dramatic surges both in their rights and in positive public opinion in many Western countries. In contrast, in much of Africa, the Middle East, the Caribbean, Oceania, and parts of Asia, homosexual behavior remains illegal and severely punishable, with some countries retaining the death penalty for it. Political controversies about sexual orientation have often overlapped with scientific controversies. That is, participants on both sides of the sociopolitical debates have tended to believe that scientific findings-and scientific truths-about sexual orientation matter a great deal in making political decisions. The most contentious scientific issues have concerned the causes of sexual orientation-that is, why are some people heterosexual, others bisexual, and others homosexual? The actual relevance of ...
