Thanks so much!

Great site but your advertisements are not appropriate for the audience, however. I couldn’t use it with my students today because of Revlon Ad with people kissing… what a shame!

FREE Adverb Worksheets

For adverb worksheets, you have come to the right place. there are now 166 exercises related to this part of speech . for your lesson on adverbs of frequency, consider using this worksheet which gives you space to customize the lesson for your students. in the first section, introduce the words that you would like students to learn; words like never, sometimes, often, and always would be a good starting point. in the middle section students match activities with images which is a great comprehension check and finally there is a partner activity where students talk about how often they do certain activities. this worksheet, like many on the site, is very easy to adapt so you can have students focus on material specific to your textbook or your course. for business students, for example, consider changing the activities to ones that would be common in the workplace. take a look at other available worksheets too. there is no limit to what you can use. adverbs add yet another layer of complexity. students will undoubtedly master the difference between nouns and verbs quite easily but introducing adjectives and adverbs can cause some confusion. there is even another section on the site devoted to worksheets that help students practice using adjectives and adverbs if they are struggling with this. it is important that students comprehend what adverbs do in the sentence. you do not need to introduce the word adverb to your students but be sure students can recognize that adjectives modify nouns while adverbs modify other words. read more... ...less.

What Are Different Types of Adverbs?

Adverbs are like the thermometer of a sentence. They tell us as to what degree something is occurring. Yes, the pun was intended there! You could tell someone that your best friend went to Greenland and that your friend found that it was cold there. That would convey the message that Greenland was not very warm. If you have ever been to Greenland; (please Google the temperatures, if you haven't ever been), you would find that statement very understated. After Googling, you would find that this statement should read: My best friend travelled to Greenland and found it to be profoundly cold! The adverb "profoundly" gets the message across for certain.

A unique adverb is the word "enough". Unlike other adverbs, it is always behind the word it is working to amplify. If you look at the example relative to the degree of the sun's temperature or a person's effort, you will understand this point in seconds. "Was it hot enough out there, on this August day?" "Man, it does matter how hard I work; I just can't get enough practice in!"

The adverbs "too" and "very" have complicated meanings based on the situation they are put into. Most people think they carry the same amplitude, but put into different scenarios; there is a great; level of difference. "Cameron throws the ball too quickly!" Is a very relative term and gives the indication that he is confused or does not have a purpose behind his throws. "Cameron throws the ball very quickly." This gives the indication that there is some skill or purpose behind what he is doing/
