The web development space has so many segments to it. The jobs that entail within this sector are abundant and there is a lot of emerging technology throughout the web industry.

Web development is a great place to start, there are loads of resources to get started, loads of courses online to learn new skills, something which you can also learn about with required web developer skills that I wrote about.

g One of the best ways to improve your web developer skills is to get started on a project, something that you can actually start to build and face real-world issues during development. You can join all the courses or read all the books but you won’t learn real skills until you develop something from scratch yourself.

It may feel like you are throwing yourself in the deep end but you’ll be much more competent afterward.

Why Create your own website project as a student?

You may be looking to improve your web developer skills or you may have been given a college assignment to complete a website project yourself . Either way, it will be a great journey to complete a project yourself. That’s why we have pre-selected a list of website project ideas ideal for your final project as a student.

Here are some great website project ideas for students:

  • Single Page Portfolio Website
  • News Website With Slider
  • To-do List App
  • Code-snippet storage
  • JavaScript Drawing Canvas
  • CSS Grid Layout
  • Calendar App

Each student website project idea will be easy enough to complete as a beginner but hard enough to challenge you, a good balance between being practical and something you can be proud of.

And remember, you may be reinventing the wheel but it doesn’t matter, these website project ideas are for students, for you to learn and understand what goes on in the real world.

Let’s start!

1. Single-Page Portfolio Website

Your browser does not support the video tag.

This student website project idea can be more interesting than it seems. It holds so much value to it. Even though we will give just a general idea, you can spin this one into your own. Pick a design for a single-page website : a photography portfolio, a web developer portfolio or even a video portfolio – The choice is pretty much endless.

I’ve written about photography websites before and different website layouts . With this idea, you can really show off your skills and piece together graphic design, CSS animations and web developing skills in general.

You can add as many things as you consider to make it more complex. Comment system connected with a database, newsletter subscriptions, work on performance, play with SEO, etc.

You can even use some made-up components that might help with your portfolio design such as fullPage.js – A JavaScript library that allows you to create beautiful full-screen websites that will include all the features to show off your work: easy navigation, large media elements, responsiveness, etc. Check it out!

2. News Website With Slider

News Website With Slider

If you are looking to build something that has more requirements for both front and backend, this one’s for you. This website project idea for students is based around a news website where articles can be posted, maybe even supporting multiple authors and profiles between them.

The website can be used to display a range of different articles on a topic of your choosing. There could be a website homepage that shows off the currently available articles – You could even get fancy with this and rotate articles based on date or view count, etc.

If you are looking to challenge yourself more, once the frontend is done you could program a backend that allows you to post an article and save it to a database. Or maybe even add a comment system… The feature list is endless! For the frontend as well, it would be amazing to create a news website slider to showcase popular articles on the site.

3. To-do List App

To-do List Website Project Idea for Students

Everyone has heard of a to-do list website in some form or another. This can easily be built and is a great way to learn a wide range of skills. Both front and backend skills.

Expect to use HTML, CSS, and JavaScript to create the frontend. You can easily set up routine tasks, reminders, and task groups. For the backend, a simple Node.js application or something built with PHP and linked up with MySQL would work fine.

There are many features to a to-do list so you can pick ones which you are interested in. Could be a file upload, group labels, kanban boards, etc.

To push this website project idea for students even further, you could implement a login/register system, there are many frameworks that help you with this.

4. Code Snippet Storage

Code Snippet Storage Project Idea

As a programmer, you will have come across lots of different ways of doing things and maybe you wanted to save snippets of code to help you remember things?

That is where a code snippet manager will come in handy, some will even have an HTML & CSS sandbox to test code in as well. However, it’s great to keep useful bits of code organized and saved somewhere safe.

A code snippet website app will allow you to make a frontend and backend. You will need somewhere to save these code snippets, a database like MySQL would work nicely. Other features like sharing, snippet groups, and a notes section might be a good idea to push this project idea for students further.

We are sure your programming teachers will love this website idea for students and maybe they will start using it for their job!

If you want some recommendations for a database management tool, check out our review on TablePlus , available for Mac, Windows, Linux, and iOS.

5. JavaScript Drawing Canvas

JavaScript Drawing Canvas Project Idea

Ever wanted to make your own art studio online? Have you been inspired to make something like the Windows Paint program? You could make your own online website for drawing and art creation.

By using HTML5 you can use a canvas with the addition of CSS and JavaScript to create your own paint tool. Add buttons for different pens, colors, and shapes.

Then you could even add a backend for people to log in and save their work or share it with others via a generated URL, you don’t have to go that far but the possibilities are endless. Perfect for a student website project.

6. CSS Grid Layout

If you are looking to test your frontend design skills, CSS grid layouts are a fantastic way to build a complex design that is both responsive and great for displaying lots of content. This website project idea for students will take advantage of CSS Grid or CSS Flexbox properties.

CSS grid offers a layout system that works best for a page with busy content, take this example from the Imgur.com website and their grid system:

CSS Grid Layout Project For Student

This is a classic example of why a CSS grid system works so well for busy sites. You could make an app or design to do with images, news articles, or build something to display videos. Either way, a CSS grid system is a great way to show off your CSS skills and build a layout that is responsive and flexible.

7. Calendar App

Calendar App Project for Student

This website project idea for students could be done by building a nice frontend website that displays a calendar. We see the use of calendars in email services like Gmail and Outlook. They are good ones to get inspiration from.

You could adapt this student website project idea to add different features like events, link up with work tasks, schedules, and meetings, etc. Maybe you can mix this website project idea with the to-do list project mentioned before.

With this website project, you would need to build both the frontend and backend so that a user could save their calendar items for later. It would be a good idea to add a cache system so items are not downloaded from the server all the time.

I truly believe that starting your own project is such a great way to learn new skills and get stuck in with your interests. Web development has many segments and starting a project can help you find what you enjoy.

With all these website project ideas for students , hopefully, you have found some inspiration. Don’t worry about feeling overwhelmed either, at first it might feel like you are in the deep end but you would be surprised how quickly you can learn something, especially in the world of web development, there are so many resources out there.

03. Define your layout

Once you’re logged into your platform of choice, it’s time to conceptualize your website layout. If you want to start from scratch, you may want to map out your website’s design on paper before you start to use the drag and drop website builder . However, another option is to use a template, which is a pre-designed layout created by a professional designer.

Wix offers an extensive library of free website templates . You’ll find designs for every kind of website, whether you’re looking to create a business website, a blog or a personal website.Start by browsing through the hundreds of options until you find a layout that you love. Then, you can make it your own by fully customizing all its elements and removing, adding or changing details like text, images and color.

Of these designs, you can pick between a multi-page template and a single-page one. If your website includes a hefty amount of content, you’ll probably opt for a multi-page site. However, with less content to display, you may want to look into one page website templates . This trendy option is a popular choice for landing pages, event websites and other short-form content sites.

Pro tip: There’s no better way to get your web design juices flowing than by seeking creative inspiration. A good way to start is to look at website examples that got it right. Grab a pen and paper, and jot down ideas you like as you browse through some of the best website designs. There are plenty of social media platforms dedicated to design inspiration, such as Pinterest and Dribbble , so make sure to check those out too. You can also expand your design knowledge by exploring concepts such as the golden ratio and how it applies to effective website design, specifically the layout.

04. Claim your domain name

To put it in simple terms, your domain name is your address on the internet. It’s what your visitors will see in the bar of their browser, right after the “www.”

Registering your domain name is critical for online success. Websites with a customized domain are automatically perceived by internet users as more professional and trustworthy.

When chosen wisely, a domain name also helps search engines (like Google and Bing) understand what your website is about. This is important because it helps bring in more traffic to your website.

Now, how do you choose a domain name for your brand? To make it memorable, keep it:

Short: The longer it is, the higher the chances of visitors misspelling it.

Simple: Avoid symbols, special characters and numbers.

Professional: Your domain name should incorporate your own name or your business name, to avoid confusion.

Evocative: Hint about what you do into your domain name by incorporating words that are related to your business.

You can find out if your dream domain name is available by using this domain registration tool . If your top choice is still up for grabs, don’t hesitate to acquire your piece of virtual property. If it’s not, don’t panic. Try out different variations of your original choice by playing around with the word order, or adding “the” at the start.

Pro tip : Picking a domain name also means using the right domain extension. From .org to .com and .net, you can choose from 45 top-level domain extensions. It’s best practice to use one that suits your business type and geographic location.

Choosing a domain also means selecting the right web hosting provider . With Wix, reliable and secure web hosting is standard with every site designed.

05. Gather your content

Now that you’ve set the foundations for your digital design , it’s time to get practical and prepare the content that will be featured on your website. This includes all of your web content - images, text, logo, videos, and more.

Use your own material as much as possible to ensure you’re offering unique and branded content. If you’re not using original content, just make sure to acquire your resources legally. Wix comes with a wide selection of media features, including a library of over one million free photos from our partners at Unsplash, Vector illustrations , and interactive videos that are exclusive to Wix. There’s also endless stock photo and image reservoirs you can check out.

While having plenty of material on your website is great, remember to always put quality over quantity. In an era of decreasing attention spans, the best way to catch your visitors’ attention is to showcase only your best content.

Finally, make sure your content is fully branded. Think of your website as an online persona - everything from the written content to the colors and fonts you use should reflect who you are or what your brand identity is.

Pro tip: New to the marketing game, or feel like you could sharpen up your brand language? From creating a logo to defining your tone of voice, this guide explains everything you need to know about building a solid brand identity.

06. Add the right pages

Every business is unique, and so is every website. Nevertheless, there are some traditional sections that your site visitors will expect to see. If you’re going for a multi-page website design, here are some must-have web pages:

Homepage : You have one chance to make a good first impression, and your homepage is it. Since it’s likely to be the first thing visitors will see, aim for a homepage that’s clean, organized and eye-catching. It should clarify who you are and what you do, and serve as a starting point for visitors to navigate through your site.

Make sure it contains the most crucial information: your logo, the name of your business, and a navigation menu inviting visitors to browse further. Once you’ve got these basics down, consider what sort of website background, imagery, written content, and calls-to-action you can add here to engage with visitors.

About Us page: Tell your story, and share your values, methods and any other information that defines your brand with an About Us page. Welcome new visitors by using the first person (“I” or “We”), since it adds a friendly touch of friendliness and warmth. Also, don’t forget to include a picture of yourself or your team members, since clients always like to see the face behind a business.

Contact page: When visitors want to reach out, they should be able to get hold of you easily. That’s where a contact page comes in. Make sure to include your phone number, postal address, business email address and social media accounts. You can also consider adding a live chat widget that gives visitors the chance to reach out and get an immediate response, or a contact form where they can write their message directly through your site.

screenshot of a website contact form

Extras (but highly recommended):

Your product or service page : The product page (or service page, depending on your industry) is where your visitors discover what you have to offer, and if they’re convinced, take out their credit card and make a purchase.

When you design a website with a product or service page in mind, here are some key recommendations: Add high quality product photography, write precise and engaging product or service descriptions, and be transparent about your conditions (such as shipping, return, or cancelation policies).

A blog: Starting a blog with a blog creator boosts your reputation as an expert, helps you foster a loyal community, and is an effective way to drive traffic to your website.

If you’re not a natural-born writer, don’t fret - you have much more to say than you think. You can write about your clients (success stories, case studies, interviews) or yourself (events you attend, new employees, and more). But the most valuable blog ideas will come from your own expertise. Your readers will love to discover the tips, methods and hacks you use to solve the problems you meet, and will definitely appreciate the added value.

Testimonials: An honest testimonials page is a wonderfully effective addition to your website design. Studies show that 77% of satisfied customers will recommend your business or service to a friend after having a positive experience. If the purpose of your website is to bring in new customers, leverage the power of word-of-mouth and let your satisfied clients do the selling for you. You can also consider using social proof examples as part of this page as well. This can help lend credibility to both your site and business.

Splash page: A splash page acts as a preview to your site, greeting visitors before they reach your homepage. This is a great way to engage with visitors using high quality visuals or interesting text, or to promote a special offer or event.

FAQ page: An FAQ page is a dedicated page on your website that provides visitors with quick and simple answers to common questions in an organized and structured manner. It can save time by providing automated answers and provide a great experience for users.

Privacy page: This may be necessary for legal compliance, so be sure to check in your own country. A privacy policy helps you establish yourself as a transparent brand, whom customers can trust. Also often using third-party services, such as web analytics platforms, or monetizing your website through ads, can mean you need a privacy policy page to work with these partners.

07. Design your website elements

You’ve got your content ready, claimed your domain name and set up your website’s pages. It’s officially time to design the elements of your website.

In this section, we’ll talk about all the details that will bring your website together and how to arrange them to form one cohesive design - whether that's inspired by minimalist, modernism, brutalism or something else completely. Ultimately, these decisions should be guided by your brand identity - the distinct appearance and voice you use to communicate your message to audiences. On top of this, keep usability in mind: your website should always facilitate easy navigation and strive to give visitors an engaging user experience.

Here are some elements to work on when learning how to design a website:

Website architecture : In order to provide the best website navigation experience for visitors, your pages need to be properly connected to one another. Make sure visitors can easily find the pages they need by adding a navigation menu and implementing internal links. Ultimately, follow the “two-click rule.” Your visitors shouldn’t have to click more than once to access any page of your site, wherever they are.

Menu: This central element of your design will display the different items featured on your website, ensuring that visitors can easily find and navigate from one page to another. Website menus range from the standard horizontal header menu, to the condensed hamburger menu. Whichever style you choose, it’s recommended to make it accessible on every page of your site, and to keep the number of items to a minimum to avoid clustering the screen.

Colors: Color psychology proves that different hues have different impacts on human behavior, which is what makes it such an important aspect of website design. The colors you choose may involve different emotions in your users and can impact your site's bounce rate . When choosing your website color scheme, a general rule is to limit yourself to three shades: one primary color (60% of the mix), one secondary color (30%), and one accent color (10%). Of course, if you’ve already solidified brand colors for yourself or your business, these should be included. Don't forget to think about your color palette and your use of the concepts of web colors and color space .

Fonts: When you choose fonts for your website, pick typefaces that are legible (both on desktop and mobile) and consistent with your brand identity. While the world of web typography is vast, opt for a maximum of three fonts in order to avoid visual chaos and to ensure readability.

Header and footer: Your website’s header and footer are found at the very top and bottom of your website, respectively. Both of these elements can be used in your website’s design to enhance usability and engagement. Both your header and footer contribute to the visual hierarchy of your site, which is important for users and search engines to understand what your site is about and who it's for. A website header is a great place to include features that you want visitors to discover immediately, such as your own logo or navigation menu. While a website footer won’t be seen right away, it can still be used to help your visitors in a number of ways. For example, it’s a great place for you to add your contact information, social media buttons, or an email sign up form.

Motion: This refers to all of the non-static, multimedia elements of your website, which can be very handy when you’re trying to catch the eye of visitors. Motion can come in many shapes, sizes and locations across your website design: implementing hover effects to encourage interaction, using VideoBox to add stunning effects or even uploading a full video background. While animations will definitely spruce up your site, use them in moderation. This guide explains all the dos and don’ts of adding animation to your website design.

Scroll effects: As the name suggests, scroll effects appear when the visitors scroll up or down your site. Their sophistication has the potential to draw attention, but most importantly, they help create a smooth transition between the different layers of a website page. One such effect is parallax scrolling. This professional 3D effect can add a sense of depth to your page, resulting in a lively browsing experience. This, along with other scroll effects (such as reveal or zoom-in), can be achieved using the Wix Editor.

Favicon: A favicon is a small icon that will be used in a website browser to “represent” your website. Take a second to look up at this tab in your browser, and you’ll see a tiny Wix logo in the left-hand corner—that’s a favicon. Despite its small size, a favicon is a great tool for helping users locate your website in those moments when one too many tabs are open. It will also contribute to your website’s branding by presenting your logo in an extra location, and its sharp appearance adds a measure of professionalism to your website design.

Responsive design: Responsive design enables your visitors to have a seamless browsing experience, regardless of whether they are using a desktop computer, tablet or mobile device. With Wix Columns , your website automatically adjusts and stacks content vertically based on the screen size or device being used to view it. This ensures that your website maintains its functionality and visual appeal across various platforms.

Whitespace: This is the area of your website that doesn’t include anything. Frightened by all this empty space? Don’t be. First of all, despite the name white space doesn't mean the absence of color, but rather negative space. Also, white space gives your visitors room to “breathe” between images or pieces of content, contributing to a much better user experience. It also supports Hick's law , that the more choices people are given, the harder it can be for them to make a decision. You want to avoid this on your site where the goal is to get users to interact and move around it.

Pro tip: What would artists like Leonardo da Vinci have to say about how to design a website? A lot, we imagine. Some of the same rules that governed art and design for centuries are also applicable to the internet. From balance to symmetry, discover how the principles of design can be applied to websites. Don't forget you can also test how your website looks with a mockup or website wireframe , that will help show you your design and structure before you press publish.

Expert tip: The Wix App Market includes a large selection of apps to boost your website’s business potential. From chat to payment, pop-ups and advertising on Google, there’s a tool for every aspect of your business.

09. Make it accessible to everyone

These days, a truly great website design should be accessible to everyone. Web accessibility ensures that all people, regardless of their abilities, can comfortably experience and interact with your website. This includes people with vision impairment, temporary injuries, hearing loss and more. With over one billion people living with some form of disability, catering to everyone’s needs is crucial. It also shows that you and your business value inclusivity and diversity.

There are a number of ways to improve user experience on your website for everyone. Make sure to build your website layout hierarchically, using clear headers to define the different levels of information. In addition, ensure that your site is fully operable with a keypad, write alt text for your images, use heading tags and more.

10. Optimize for mobile

Smaller screens do not equal smaller impact. With an increase in smartphone and tablet usage, it’s crucial that you ensure a seamless browsing experience across all devices by optimizing your mobile website design.

When creating a site with Wix, a mobile version of your site is automatically generated with the Mobile Editor. This means that you won’t have to worry about building a new structure from scratch. However, it’s still up to you to make sure you’re optimizing your content to fit this smaller piece of real estate.

Firstly, on your mobile website design, try to keep only the most important elements on the page, removing whatever isn’t absolutely necessary. Secondly, optimize the space above the fold by placing the most vital bits of information there, such as your menu or name. This is what your visitors will see first on a mobile browser, so keep it engaging and informative.

11. Strengthen your SEO

After you design a website, nothing is more satisfying than watching the number of visitors grow. One way to increase traffic to your website is to build a website design with SEO best practices. SEO (search engine optimization) is the practice of optimizing your website’s content so that it ranks well in search results.

SEO requires time, patience and persistence in order to get results, but you can start setting up your SEO as you design your website. Here are some SEO tips that you can apply to your content to improve your chances of ranking in the top results:

Conduct keyword research : Keyword research will help you find the keywords that are most relevant for your site. Once you have them, pick one main keyword, and a couple of secondary ones - but no more than that. Place your keywords in strategic locations across your site (SEO title and description, homepage, etc.), but don’t overdo it. Search engines penalize websites that “stuff” keywords unnaturally into their content.

Include on-page SEO: This is about telling search engines what your pages include. On each page, your website builder will ask you to fill in the meta-data. This includes the URL, the SEO title (the blue link you see on Google’s results page) and the description. Although visitors may not notice these elements, they’re important when it comes to ranking.

Add alt text: Alt text refers to the descriptions that you give to your pictures. These won’t be visible to your visitors, but they give a strong indication to Google as to what the media is about. Google may have a lot of knowledge, but it can’t “see” photos or GIFs (yet!). Alt text will help your visual content appear in Google results pages. Plus, writing SEO friendly alt text for your images is also an important practice in improving your website’s accessibility.

Boost internal linking: This will ultimately make it easier for Google’s bots to navigate through and recognize your website. Adding links throughout your website design will also encourage visitors to discover more pages.

Create a sitemap: This will make it easier for Google and other search engines to crawl your site and understand what it's about. This can be done automatically with a Wix premium plan.

Pro tip: You can regularly track the growth of your web traffic and performance of your site by utilizing Wix’s marketing integrations and connecting your website to tracking tools, like Google Analytics or Google Search Console .

12. Engage with visitors

These days, visitors expect to engage with you on your site and beyond. Including some of the following features when you design a website will keep your audience connected and informed. Connecting with your followers across multiple channels is a powerful way to build relationships with them - and will ultimately bring more eyes to your site.

Live chat: Adding a live chat widget to your site makes a big difference in your visitors’ ability to interact with you. Whether it’s to provide fast customer support or to help undecided visitors make their way to the cart, this small window at the bottom of your users’ screen is a friendly addition.

screenshot of website product page with chat box open

Social media: Similar to your website, your social media channels are an important aspect of your online presence. As you design your website, add links to your social accounts to build your social following and provide another outlet for visitors to connect with you. These should be located somewhere visible, such as under the menu, on the right or left side of your page, or in the footer.

Newsletter: Email marketing is a great way to maintain a connection with your audience. You can use email newsletters to update visitors about the latest sales on your online store, promote new blog articles, or celebrate your achievements with subscribers. Invite visitors to subscribe to your newsletter by placing a lightbox on your website.

Forms: One powerful way to build long-lasting relationships with your customers is to ask for their feedback. Creating an online form for your website makes sure that visitors have a safe place to share their thoughts about your products, services, website or customer support.

13. Ask for feedback

At this point, you may know how to design a website successfully, but there’s still room for growth. Being impartial is especially difficult when it comes to your own creation, which is why designing a website involves asking for honest feedback from individuals you trust.

Be receptive to their critique, and remember that you may not always like what you hear. To ensure a flawless final result, ask a friend or colleague to double check the following elements:

Is the text correct? Spelling mistakes can ruin the professional reputation that you’ve worked so hard to build.

Are the pages easy to navigate? If it takes too long to find a strategic page of your site, it means that you may need to rethink your site architecture or improve the visibility of your menu.

Is your web design optimized for mobile? Over 50% of internet users browse websites using a mobile device. You certainly don’t want to leave half of the world’s population frustrated.

Are all the links working? Click on every link to make sure none of them return a 404 page (this indicates that the page doesn’t exist anymore). Check to make sure your call-to-actions (CTA's) are working with the correct links too.

Are the SEO elements filled out correctly? From alt text to title tags, there are some items to verify so you can rank higher and grow your search engine visibility.

14. Publish and update

Having a website is a necessity. But having a website that is up-to-date is what really makes the difference. A site that looks like it’s been lying dormant for too long is uninviting and unreliable. Make sure to be alert, stay in-the-know, and update or redesign your website's content as often as you can.

As you learn how to design a website that constantly grows and evolves, you’ll need to know how to update your site. There’s always room for improvement, and you want to make sure that you keep your website design fresh.

Stay savvy by keeping up with web design trends and UX design trends —use that knowledge to update your site’s design overtime. Don’t forget to keep your content up-to-date, too. Make sure it’s always relevant and proves to visitors that you’re on top of the latest developments in your industry.

What you need to design a website

To design a website, you will need the following:

A domain name: This is the address of your website on the internet, such as example.com. You can register a domain name through a domain registrar.

Web hosting: This is the service that stores your website's files and makes them accessible to visitors. You can purchase web hosting from a web hosting provider.

A website builder or content management system (CMS): This is a software tool that helps you to create and manage your website's content. Using Wix as a CMS for web design offers you a wide range of templates, ease of use and affordability.

Design assets: This includes images, videos and fonts that you will use to design your website. You can find design assets for free or purchase them from stock photo websites and other online resources.

What to keep in mind when you design a website

While you are designing your website, there are essential factors to keep in mind:

A clear understanding of your website's purpose and target audience. Who are you designing the website for? What are their needs and interests? What kind of information are they looking for? This is all part of setting your goals for your website. What do you want visitors to do on your website? Do you want them to learn about your company, buy your products or contact you?

A strong understanding of your brand. Decide what your brand values are and what kind of image you want to project when you are designing your website. What colors, fonts, and images will represent your brand? This is what your audience will come to associate with you, so choose carefully.

A well-defined website structure. Deciding how your website will be structured involves answering important questions, from figuring out how many pages it will have to how visitors will navigate from one page to another.

Responsive design and accessibility. Your website should be responsive, meaning that it looks good and functions properly on all devices, including desktops, laptops, tablets and smartphones. Make sure your website is accessible to people with disabilities, too. This means using high-contrast colors, large fonts and clear navigation.

User experience (UX) and visually appealing design. UX is the overall experience of using a website. A good UX makes it easy for visitors to find what they're looking for and complete their desired tasks. On top of that, it's important that the design of your website be eye-catching and easy to use. Use colors, fonts, and images that complement your brand and make the website easy to navigate.

Website security. Make sure that your website is secure from hackers and malware. This means using secure passwords, encrypting sensitive data, and keeping your software up to date.

Designing a website can be a complex process, but it's important to remember that the goal is to create a website that meets the needs of your target audience and achieves your business goals. By following the tips above, you can create a website that is both visually appealing and functional.

When to design a website or hire a web designer

Whether you should design a website yourself or hire a web designer depends on a number of factors, including:

Your budget: Hiring a web designer can be expensive, so it's important to consider your budget before making a decision. If you're on a tight budget, you may want to consider designing your own website using a website builder or CMS platform.

Your time commitment: Designing a website can be a time-consuming process, especially if you're not familiar with web design. If you don't have the time to commit to designing your own website, then hiring a web designer may be the best option.

Your skills and experience: If you have no experience with web design, then it may be difficult to create a website that is both visually appealing and functional. If you're not confident in your ability to design a website, hiring a web designer could be the best option. However, Wix offers easy-to-use templates for beginners, so it's not a necessity.

How to design a website with AI

When it comes to designing a website, AI can enhance various aspects of the design process, from user experience (UX) to visual design and even content creation.

The simplest way to get started is by firing up a platform like Wix's AI maker. A solution like this can connect you with advanced AI tools that take care of the back-end and front-end development of your site, so you can focus on the vision for your brand and business. Meanwhile, AI will suggest the best layout and design for your site based on business goals.

Platforms like Wix will go a step further and set you up with the right pages and business applications. For example, if you run a gym that hosts events and also sells its own apparel, Wix will automatically connect your site with its Bookings and Stores apps. This ensures that you not only have a professional-looking website, but also a fully functional workspace for managing all aspects of your business online.

Create a Website from Scratch

A "layout draft".

It can be wise to draw a layout draft of the page design before creating a website:

Navigation bar

Side content.

Some text some text..

Main Content

First step - basic html page.

HTML is the standard markup language for creating websites and CSS is the language that describes the style of an HTML document. We will combine HTML and CSS to create a basic web page.

Note: If you don't know HTML and CSS, we suggest that you start by reading our HTML Tutorial .

Example Explained

  • The <!DOCTYPE html> declaration defines this document to be HTML5
  • The <html> element is the root element of an HTML page
  • The <head> element contains meta information about the document
  • The <title> element specifies a title for the document
  • The <meta> element should define the character set to be UTF-8
  • The <meta> element with name="viewport" makes the website look good on all devices and screen resolutions
  • The <style> element contains the styles for the website (layout/design)
  • The <body> element contains the visible page content
  • The <h1> element defines a large heading
  • The <p> element defines a paragraph

Creating Page Content

Inside the <body> element of our website, we will use our "Layout Draft" and create:

  • A navigation bar
  • Main content
  • Side content

Semantic Elements

HTML5 introduced several new semantic elements. Semantic elements are important to use because they define the structure of web pages and helps screen readers and search engines to read the page correctly.

These are some of the most common semantic HTML elements:

In this tutorial we will use semantic elements.

However, it is up to you if you want to use <div> elements instead.

A header is usually located at the top of the website (or right below a top navigation menu). It often contains a logo or the website name:

Then we use CSS to style the header:

Try it Yourself »

Navigation Bar

A navigation bar contains a list of links to help visitors navigating through your website:

Use CSS to style the navigation bar:

Create a 2-column layout, divided into a "side content" and a "main content".

We use CSS Flexbox to handle the layout:

Then add media queries to make the layout responsive. This will make sure that your website looks good on all devices (desktops, laptops, tablets and phones). Resize the browser window to see the result.

Tip: To create a different kind of layout, just change the flex width (but make sure that it adds up to 100%).

Tip: Do you wonder how the @media rule works? Read more about it in our CSS Media Queries chapter .

Tip: To learn more about the Flexible Box Layout Module, read our CSS Flexbox chapter .

What is box-sizing?

You can easily create three floating boxes side by side. However, when you add something that enlarges the width of each box (e.g. padding or borders), the box will break. The box-sizing property allows us to include the padding and border in the box's total width (and height), making sure that the padding stays inside of the box and that it does not break.

You can read more about the box-sizing property in our CSS Box Sizing Tutorial .

At last, we will add a footer.

And style it:

Congratulations! You have built a responsive website from scratch.

website assignment

updated Dec 4, 2023

If you want to feel confident in your front-end web developer skills, the easiest solution is to start building your own HTML and CSS projects from scratch.

As with any other skill, practicing on simple, realistic projects helps you build your skills and confidence step-by-step.

But if you are new to HTML and CSS, you may be wondering:

Where can I find ideas for beginner-level HTML and CSS projects?

Even if you are just starting out with HTML and CSS, there are some fun and easy projects you can create.

Whether you are new to learning web development or have some experience under your belt, this guide is the perfect place to start improving your skills.

In this article, I’ll walk you through 32 fun HTML and CSS coding projects that are easy to follow. We will start with beginner-level projects and then move on to more demanding ones.

If you want to become a professional front-end developer, the projects below will help you expand your portfolio.

When it’s time to apply for your first entry-level job, you can showcase your skills to potential employers with a portfolio packed with real-life project examples.

Let’s get started!

What are HTML and CSS?

HTML and CSS are the most fundamental languages for front-end web development.

Learning them will allow you to:

  • Build stunning websites
  • Start a coding blog
  • Make money freelancing

Let’s take a quick look at both of them next:

What is HTML?

HTML or HyperText Markup Language is the standard markup language for all web pages worldwide.

It’s not a “typical” programming language – like Python or Java – since it doesn’t contain any programming logic. HTML can’t perform data manipulations or calculations, for example.

Instead, HTML allows you to create and format the fundamental structure and content of a web page.

You will use HTML to create:

  • Page layouts (header, body, footer, sidebar)
  • Paragraphs and headings
  • Input fields
  • Checkboxes and radio buttons
  • Embedded media

Thus, HTML only allows you to determine the structure of a web page and place individual content elements within it.

For more details, check out my post on what HTML is and how it works .

You can’t format the look and feel of your web page with HTML, though.

Your HTML web page will look dull and boring. Sort of like this:

The first HTML WWW website ever built

The example above is the first web page every built for the WWW , by the way.

This is how websites used to look in the ’90s. But we’ve come a long way since then – luckily.

To make your HTML content visually appealing and professional-looking, you need another language: CSS. Let’s look at that next.

What is CSS?

CSS or Cascading Style Sheets is a style sheet language that allows you to adjust the design and feel of your HTML content.

Thus, you can turn your pure-HTML pages into stunning, modern websites with CSS. And it’s super easy to learn, too!

Here’s how it works:

CSS allows you to target individual HTML elements and apply different styling rules to them.

For example, here’s a CSS rule that targets H2 headings, their font-size property, and sets it to a value of 24px:

You can use CSS to adjust:

  • Backgrounds
  • Fonts and text styling
  • Spacings (paddings, margins)
  • CSS animations
  • Responsiveness (media queries)

If you want to create stunning websites and become a front-end web developer, CSS is one of the first tools you must learn and master.

For more details, check out my post on what CSS is and how it works .

Why build HTML and CSS projects?

Practicing on realistic, hands-on projects is the best way to learn how to create something useful and meaningful with HTML and CSS.

The more projects you build, the more confident you will feel in your skills.

To build a web page from scratch , you need a basic understanding of how HTML works. You should be comfortable with writing the necessary HTML code to create a page without copying a boilerplate or following a tutorial.

Thus, if you want to become a front-end web developer , building HTML and CSS projects will teach you how to use these two languages in real life.

Therefore, practising your skills with the projects in this article will give you a competitive edge against anyone who’s simply following tutorials and copy-pasting other people’s code.

Finally, building HTML and CSS projects helps you build a professional portfolio of real-world projects.

When it’s time to start applying for your first job, you will have 10 to 20 cool projects to showcase your skills to potential employers. Not bad!

Now, before you start building full-scale web pages with HTML and CSS, you want to set up your basic HTML and CSS website layout first.

The idea is to divide your page into logical HTML sections. That way, you can start filling those sections with the right elements and content faster.

For example, you can break up the body of your page into multiple parts:

  • Header: <header>
  • Navigation: <nav>
  • Content: <article>
  • Sidebar: <aside>
  • Footer: <footer>

HTML and CSS concepts you will practice:

  • HTML page structure
  • basic HTML elements: headings, paragraphs, lists
  • embedding images with HTML
  • CSS fundamentals: fonts and colors
  • CSS paddings, margins, and borders

Here’s a helpful tutorial for building a HTML and CSS tribute page .

Whether you want to become a full-time web developer or a freelance web designer, you will use HTML forms in almost every project.

Forms allow you to build:

  • Contact forms
  • Login forms
  • Sign up forms
  • Survey forms

Building a survey page allows you to practice HTML input tags, form layouts, radio buttons, checkboxes, and more.

Pick any topic you like and come up with 10 pieces of information you want to collect from respondents.

Perhaps an employee evaluation form? Or a customer satisfaction form?

  • form elements: input fields, dropdowns, radio buttons, labels
  • styling for forms and buttons

Here’s an example survey form project for inspiration:

See the Pen Good Vibes Form by Laurence ( @laurencenairne ) on CodePen .

Let’s practice those HTML forms a bit more, shall we?

For this project, you will build a sign-up or log-in page with the necessary input fields for a username and a password.

Because we can create a user profile on almost every website, forms are absolutely essential for allowing people to set their usernames and passwords.

Your forms will collect inputs from users and a separate back-end program will know how to store and process that data.

Creating a clean and clear sign-up page can be surprisingly difficult. The more you learn about HTML and CSS, the more content you want to create to showcase your skills. But the thing is: a sign-up page needs to be as clean and easy-to-use as possible.

Thus, the biggest challenge with this project is to keep it simple, clear, and light.

Here’s an example project to get started with:

See the Pen Learn HTML Forms by Building a Registration Form by Noel ( @WaterNic10 ) on CodePen .

For more inspiration, check out these 50+ sign-up forms built with HTML and CSS .

Using a HTML form is the best way to collect information from job applicants.

You can also generate and format a job description at the top of the page.

Then, create a simple job application form below to collect at least 10 pieces of information.

Use these HTML elements, for example:

  • Text fields
  • Email fields
  • Radio buttons

Here’s an example job application page you can build with HTML and CSS:

See the Pen Simple Job Application Form Example by Getform ( @getform ) on CodePen .

One of your first HTML and CSS projects should be a simple landing page.

Your landing page can focus on a local business, an event, or a product launch, for example.

Landing pages play an important role for new businesses, marketing campaigns, and product launches. As a front-end developer, you will be asked to create them for clients.

For this project, create a simple HTML file and style it with CSS. Be sure to include a headline, some text about the company or its services, and a call-to-action (CTA) button.

Make sure that your landing page is clean and clear and that it’s easy to read.

If you build a landing page for a new product, highlight the product’s key benefits and features.

To get started, follow this freeCodeCamp tutorial to build a simple landing page . You will need JavaScript for a few features. If you are not familiar with JavaScript, leave those features out for now and come back to them later.

A product landing page is a page that you build to promote a specific product or service.

For example, if you want to sell your ebook about how to use CSS to build an animated website, then you would create a product landing page for it.

Your product landing page can be very simple to start with. When your skills improve, add some complexity depending on what kind of information you need to present.

One of the most iconic product landing pages is the iPhone product page by Apple, for example:

Apple iPhone product landing page example

Of course, the iPhone landing page is technically complex, so you won’t build it as your first project. But still, it’s a good place to find inspiration and new ideas.

The best way to design your first product landing page is to create a simple wireframe first. Sketch your page layout on paper before you start building it.

Wireframes help you maintain a clear overview of your HTML sections and elements.

To get started, browse through these product landing page examples for some inspiration .

Building an interactive navigation bar will teach you how to create an animated menu with dropdowns using HTML and CSS.

This is another great project for beginners, because it will teach you how to create menus using HTML and CSS. You’ll also learn how to style them with different colors, fonts, and effects.

You’ll also learn how to use anchors and pseudo-classes to create the menu navigation, as well as how to create the dropdown menus from scratch.

If you aren’t familiar with CSS media queries yet, building a responsive navigation bar is a smart way to learn and practice them.

CSS media queries allow you to create a responsive navigation menu that changes its size and layout depending on screen width.

To get started, check out this tutorial on how to build an interactive navigation bar with HTML and CSS .

One of the best ways to practice your HTML and CSS skills is to create custom website headers. This is a great project to add to your portfolio website, as it will show off your skills and help you attract new clients.

There are a number of different ways that you can create a stylish and responsive website header. One option is to use a premade CSS framework such as Bootstrap or Foundation. Alternatively, you can create your own custom styles by hand.

No matter which option you choose, be sure to make your header mobile-friendly by using media queries. This will ensure that your header looks great on all devices, regardless of their screen size or resolution.

To get started, check out this simple example for a responsive HTML and CSS header .

If you’re looking to get into web development, one of the best HTML and CSS projects you can build is a simple restaurant menu.

Align the different foods and drinks using a CSS layout grid.

Add prices, images, and other elements you need to give it a professional, clean look and feel.

Choose a suitable color palette, fonts, and stock photos.

You can also add photos or a gallery for individual dishes. If you want to add an image slider, you can create one with HTML and CSS, too.

Here’s an example of a very simple restaurant menu project:

See the Pen Simple CSS restaurant menu by Viszked Tamas Andras ( @ViszkY ) on CodePen .

Once you’ve built your restaurant menu with, it’s time to tackle a more complex HTML and CSS project.

Building a real-life restaurant website is a fun way to practice a ton of HTML and CSS topics.

Not only will you learn the basics of creating a beautiful, professional web page, but you also get a chance to practice responsive web design, too.

And if you’re looking to land your first front-end web developer job, having a well-designed business website in your portfolio will help you stand out from the crowd.

Restaurant website example project with HTML and CSS

Make sure your website matches the restaurant’s menu and target clientele. A fine-dining place on Manhattan will have a different website than a simple (but delicious!) diner in rural Wisconsin.

Here are a few key details to include on your restaurant website:

  • Clear navigation bar
  • Restaurant details
  • Menu for food and drinks
  • Location and directions
  • Contact details
  • Upcoming events

To get started, check out this free tutorial on how to build a restaurant website with HTML and CSS .

To build a parallax website, you will include fixed background images that stay in place when you scroll down the page.

Although the parallax look isn’t as popular or modern as it was a few years back, web designers still use the effect a lot.

The easiest way to build a parallax HTML and CSS project is to start with a fixed background image for the entire page.

After that, you can experiment with parallax effects for individual sections.

Create 3-5 sections for your page, fill them with content, and set a fixed background image for 1-2 sections of your choice.

Word of warning: Don’t overdo it. Parallax effects can be distracting, so only use them as a subtle accent where suitable.

Here’s an example project with HTML and CSS source code:

See the Pen CSS-Only Parallax Effect by Yago Estévez ( @yagoestevez ) on CodePen .

404 error pages are usually boring and generic, right?

But when a visitor can’t find what they’re searching for, you don’t want them to leave your website.

Instead, you should build a custom 404 error page that’s helpful and valuable, and even fun and entertaining.

A great 404 page can make users smile and – more importantly – help them find what they are looking for. Your visitors will appreciate your effort, trust me.

For some inspiration, check out these custom 404 page examples .

Any web developer will tell you that having a strong portfolio is essential to landing your first job.

Your portfolio is a chance to show off your skills and demonstrate your expertise in front-end web development.

And while there are many ways to create a portfolio website, building one from scratch using HTML and CSS will give you tons of valuable practice.

Your first version can be a single-page portfolio. As your skills improve, continue adding new pages, content, and features. Make this your pet project!

Remember to let your personality shine through, too. It will help you stand out from the crowd of other developers who are vying for the same jobs.

Introduce yourself and share a few details about your experience and future plans.

Employers and clients want to see how you can help them solve problems. Thus, present your services and emphasize the solutions you can deliver with your skills.

Add your CV and share a link to your GitHub account to showcase your most relevant work samples.

Make sure to embed a few key projects directly on your portfolio website, too.

Finally, let your visitors know how to get in touch with you easily. If you want, you can add links to your social media accounts, too.

In this project, you’ll create a simple blog post page using HTML and CSS.

You’ll need to design the layout of the page, add a title, a featured image, and of course add some content to your dummy blog post.

You can also add a sidebar with a few helpful links and widgets, like:

  • An author bio with a photo
  • Links to social media profiles
  • List of most recent blog posts
  • List of blog post categories

Once your HTML structure and content are in place, it’s time to style everything with CSS.

Photography website with a gallery

If you’re a photographer or just enjoy taking pictures, then this project is for you.

Build a simple photo gallery website using HTML and CSS to practice your web design skills.

Start with the basic HTML structure of the page, and figure out a cool layout grid for the photos. You will need to embed the photos and style everything beautiful with CSS.

My tip: Use CSS Flexbox and media queries to create a responsive galleries that look great on all devices.

Here’s a full tutorial for building a gallery website with HTML and CSS:

If you love music, why not practice your HTML and CSS skills by building a music store web page?

Before you start, make a thorough plan about your website structure. What’s the purpose of your music store? What genres will you cover?

Pick a suitable color palette, choose your fonts, and any background images you want to use.

My tip: If you feature album cover images, keep your colors and fonts as clean and simple as possible. You don’t want to overpower the album covers with a busy web page with tons of different colors and mismatching fonts.

Create a user-friendly menu and navigation inside the header. Fill the footer with helpful links for your store, career page, contact details, and newsletter form, for example.

Building a music store website with HTML and CSS is a great opportunity to practice your skills while you are still learning.

Start with very basic features, and add new ones as your skills improve. For example, you can add media queries to make your website responsive.

A forum is a great way to create a community around a topic or interest, and it’s also a great way to practice your coding skills.

In this project, you’ll create a simple forum website using HTML and CSS.

You’ll need to design the layout of the site, add categories and forums, and set up some initial content.

Of course, you should start with creating the basic layout and structure with HTML first. You will need a navigation bar, at least one sidebar, and an area for the main content.

To make your discussion forum website more interesting, add new content and remember to interlink related threads to make the site feel more realistic.

Event or conference web page

Creating a web page for an event is a fun HTML and CSS project for beginners.

You can either pick a real event and build a better landing page than the real one, or come up with an imaginary conference, for example.

Make sure to include these elements:

  • Register button
  • Venue details
  • Dates and schedule
  • Speakers and key people
  • Directions (how to get there)
  • Accommodation details

Divide the landing page into sections, and create a header and a footer with menus and quick links.

Come up with a suitable color palette, pick your fonts, and keep your design clean and clear.

Every programming language, software, device and gadget has a technical documentation for helpful information and support.

Creating a technical documentation website with just HTML and CSS allows you to build a multi-page site with hierarchies, links, and breadcrumbs.

The main idea is to create a multi-page website where you have a sidebar menu on the left, and the content on the right.

The left-hand side contains a vertical menu with all the topics your documentation covers.

The right-hand side presents the description and all the details for each individual topic.

For simplicity, start with the homepage and 2–3 subpages first. Come up with a clean layout and make sure your links are working properly.

Then, start expanding the website with additional sub-pages, content, and elements.

  • HTML hyperlinks and buttons

Creating an online recipe book as an HTML and CSS project requires a similar setup than the previous project example.

You will need to create a homepage that serves as a directory for all your recipes. Then, create a separate subpage for each recipe.

If you want to challenge yourself, add recipe categories and create separate directory pages for each of them.

  • embedding recipe photos

One of the best ways to practice HTML and CSS is to clone an existing web page from scratch.

Use your browser’s inspecting tools to get an idea of how the page is built.

As with any HTML and CSS project, start by creating the basic page template with:

Then, divide your page into sections, rows, and columns.

Finally, fill your page with individual elements like headings, paragraphs, and images.

Once the HTML content is in place, use CSS to style your page.

Start with something simple, like the PayPal login page.

Then move on to more demanding cloning projects, such as a news website. Try the BBC homepage, for example.

Website analysis: your go-to optimization resource

An introduction on how to analyze websites so you can optimize  your site's performance in relation to user behavior, SEO, speed, competition, and traffic.

Last updated

Reading time, go beyond traditional website analysis.

Start analyzing your website with Hotjar today so you can learn more about what people do on your website—and why.

Almost every guide to website analysis will tell you that you can evaluate a site’s performance by doing any or all of these actions:

Run an SEO audit

Test website speed

Carry out competitor analysis

Analyze website traffic

They aren’t wrong, and we cover the same practices later on in this guide. But we think website speed, SEO , and competitor and traffic analysis only ever tell part of the story behind your website’s performance.

The missing piece in your website analysis is understanding your visitors, users, and customers, and giving them what they came for so they don't just land on your perfectly optimized site —they stay on it, use it, and keep coming back. And that’s where our guide begins.

What is website analysis?

Website analysis is the practice of analyzing, then testing and optimizing, a website's performance.

Any site can benefit from some form of website analysis if the results are then used to improve it—for example, by reducing page size to increase overall loading speed or optimizing a landing page with lots of traffic for more conversions.

→ Eager to start improving your website already? Explore our curated list of website optimization tools !

A user-driven approach to website analysis

We can all agree it's important to have a site that’s fast, ranks well on Google, and doesn’t have major usability issues . We can also agree that it's equally important for your business to understand your competitive landscape and maximize the web traffic that gets to your site.

Standard website analysis helps you achieve all of the above—with a caveat; it won't give you a clear competitive advantage because your competitors are doing it, too . They all have access to the same SEO, performance, and traffic tools you use as well.

But here’s another insight you can leverage that’s 100% unique to your website: your users’ perspective.

Finding out how they got to your site, what they want from it, how they’re experience it, what’s working or not working for them— this will give you the holistic insight you need to build a great experience for the people who visit your website day in and day out.

5 ways behavior analytics contributes to website analysis

Your users are the extra source of insights you need to grow your website and business—through interaction, they know what’s working, and what’s not on your website. Behavior analytics tools (like Hotjar 👋) help you analyze this user behavior and answer valuable business questions, such as:

Where on a page do people get stuck and struggle before dropping off?

How do people interact (or fail to) with individual page elements and sections?

What are they interested in or ignoring across the website?

What do they actually want from the website or product?

Let’s look at some of the noteworthy ways your overall website analysis strategy can benefit from including behavior analytics.

1. See how users interact with a page

Knowing the number of views a particular landing page receives will only get you so far—far more important knowledge lies in understanding your users’ behavior. What’s working for them on the page? Where are they struggling? Naturally, you’ll want to examine the functionality of your page(s) to uncover (and start fixing) potential website issues .

Heatmaps are a great way to understand what users do on your website: they aggregate behavior on a page by highlighting the buttons, CTAs, and other elements your visitors interact with, scroll past, or ignore. They’re an effective data visualization tool that can make an impression on even the most numbers-averse among us.

💡Pro tip: analyze how customers interact with your site or product with click, scroll, and move maps in Hotjar Heatmaps . Use Engagement zones to combine data from all three heatmaps into a single view.

website assignment

Visualize user engagement on your site with Heatmaps tools like Engagement zones

→ Find out how you can boost engagement with these w ebsite engagement tools .

2. See how users navigate your site

If you’re looking to increase web traffic and visitor retention for your site, you’ll want to watch and track how users interact with it. Beyond heatmaps, recording individual user experiences across several pages can give you more detailed insights into how your entire site performs.

S ession recordings show you how people navigate between different pages and help you uncover potential bugs , issues, or pain points they experience throughout their journey. They document various behaviors like mouse movement, clicks, taps, and scrolling across multiple pages on both desktop and mobile.

💡Pro tip: Want to know where to start improving your site? See what your users see with Hotjar Recordings and filter by Frustration score to view session replays of users who had a bad experience.

Watch how users behave on your site with session recordings

3. Get real-time feedback on how users experience your site

To collect hyper-targeted feedback on what users love and hate about your website, try introducing some feedback widgets. You can uncover how to better meet their needs when you listen to the thoughts they share about their experience.

Feedback widgets, like Hotjar's Feedback tool , can be used as a floating widget or embedded on the page to capture real-time feedback on how users feel as they experience your site. With Hotjar Feedback, you can effectively eliminate the age-old problem of not knowing just what the user experienced—no need to replicate any bugs, you can simply pull up the recording of their session to see exactly what happened.

💡Pro tip: collect compelling visual feedback by enabling users to highlight parts of the page they like or hate, so you can spot areas for improvement more easily.

With feedback widgets tools like Hotjar, you can find out what went wrong (and where) during a user experience

4. Gather targeted feedback

There are other website feedback tools that you can use to pinpoint potential pain points: maybe the user found a particular portion of text unreadable or a convoluted pricing page confused them. O n-site surveys— surveys that are placed across your website pages—will help you collect in-the-moment responses from users about what they’re actually looking for or trying to do.

Using feedback tools like Hotjar Surveys is a straightforward way to make sure that your team’s decision-making includes the voices of your users. Connecting with users also creates a more human experience so they can feel more engaged with your business.

💡Pro tip: Hotjar has a survey for just about every occasion (and a bank of survey questions to borrow from). You can learn:

Why users want to leave your site with an exit-intent survey or churn survey

Where users heard about you with a traffic attribution survey

How easy to use users find your site/product with a website usability survey

What users feel about the content on a specific page with a content feedback survey

website assignment

Surveys come in all shapes and sizes—engage with your users the way you want to

5. Interview users to understand their experience in even more detail

Analyzing how users interact with individual pages or site as a whole is a source of valuable knowledge. It becomes even more useful when you pair it with an understanding of why users take the actions they take.

You can collect more nuanced feedback to analyze by actually talking to your users—getting first-hand insights from them and asking follow-up questions to get to the bottom of why they aren’t ‘feeling’ your site, so to speak. If you’re worried about finding people to talk to, don’t sweat it: nowadays, products like Hotjar Engage make it easy to recruit interviewees and turn user insights into achievable actions.

💡Pro tip: focus on spotting key user engagement insights while Hotjar Engage seamlessly hosts, records, and transcribes your user calls. Don’t forget to have your whole team join the call.

Use interviews to connect with your users and shed light on their more in-depth needs

Any combination of the website analysis tools mentioned above will help you identify drivers that lead people to your website, the barriers and the obstacles they encounter, and the hooks that ultimately make them stay and convert.

4 more types of traditional website analysis

Traditional website analysis generally falls into 4 categories:

Search Engine Optimization (SEO)

Competition

1. SEO analysis and auditing tools

SEO analysis takes many forms, and the most common actions include:

On-page SEO audits

Website search engine ranking analysis, backlink analysis.

On-page SEO auditing helps you check your website for common technical issues that can affect search engine performance, like missing <title> tags or broken redirections. This kind of analysis is usually performed using specialized tools—some of which are automated to provide helpful suggestions (like Google's own Search Console), while others are highly customizable and allow you to perform advanced analysis (like Screaming Frog).

#This is what Screaming Frog looks like when we run it on this very page

If you’ve already dipped your toes into SEO, then you know just how important keyword research is for making sure people find your site when browsing search results. Search engine ranking analysis shows you where your website appears for specific keywords on search engines like Google or Bing.

Some rank trackers will calculate your website performance based on a keyword of your choice, like Serpbook, while others will also show you all the found keywords you rank for (for example, Ahrefs). Usually, these SEO checker tools also show how your website performs in different locations, e.g. United States vs United Kingdom, and across different devices such as. desktop vs mobile.

#The Ahrefs interface

Analyzing your website's backlinks helps you find out which pages link to your site and with which anchor text, so you can compare your backlink profile to that of your competitors. This information will also inform your link-building campaigns. Most SEO tools have a backlink analysis feature built-in (Moz, Ahrefs, MajesticSEO, and so on), but you can also find a list of your backlinks in Google Search Console.

#The link profile feature in Google Search Console

→ Did you know this guide includes an industry round-up of the top recommended SEO tools ?

2. Website speed and performance tools

There are two main problems with slow-loading websites: users don't like them, and, as a result, neither do search engines. That's why speed testing is a second key area of website analysis.

A good general rule is to gather some data about web page speed—for example, what elements of it are too slow, too large, etc—and then use this information as a starting point to make the website faster.

There are many free tools available you can use to analyze website speed. Google's PageSpeed Insights is a good starting point, and will show you key speed metrics like First Contentful Paint (FCP), which is the time it takes for a browser to start displaying content. You can also use one of the following tools:

WebPageTest

Website performance analysis helps you determine if your site is slow, fast, or average—but it also lets you diagnose why. You can also test mobile and desktop separately, and get an overall performance score and color-coded breakdown of the main areas and severity of the issues reported.

#PageSpeed Insights shows room for improvement...

By analyzing key metrics like page size, load time, http requests, image compression, and browser caching, you can access the data you need to speed up your site and give your users a smoother experience. Even better is conducting ongoing website performance monitoring , so you can make sure updates aren’t making things worse.

→ We cover more website performance tools later on in this guide!

3. Competitive analysis tools

Almost all online businesses have competitors who offer a similar product, service, or experience to the same target audience. Competitive analysis is the practice of identifying and analyzing competing companies, quantifying the threats they pose, and finding opportunities and advantages that can be uniquely leveraged in your business.

Researching competitors is a key part of SWOT analysis (Strengths, Weaknesses, Opportunities, Threats). For ecommerce and online businesses, competitor analysis can be distilled down into two key questions:

How do our products/services compare to others in the space?

What are our competitors doing in terms of messaging?

Manual research is an effective way to collect and analyze data relating to a competitor website. You can get started very simply by just recording a few key insights and SWOT points on a spreadsheet for easy comparison.

#Source: shopify.co.uk/blog/competitive-analysis

Competitor analysis tools like SEMRush or SimilarWeb can also help you discover insights about how popular competitors' websites are (traffic volume) and how customers find them (traffic source).

→ Discover more competitive analysis tools in this guide’s industry round-up!

4. Traffic analysis tools

If you’re looking into your competitors’ web traffic, you’ll definitely want to analyze your own. Traffic analysis helps you monitor the volume and activity of visitors to your website, and determine your most successful pages and traffic generation techniques.

Knowing where website traffic originates (e.g. from organic search or social media), how popular your pages are, which traffic sources convert better, and where on the website you lose potential customers helps you double-down on successful digital marketing campaigns and invest resources accordingly.

Frequently asked questions about website analysis

How do you analyze a website.

Website analysis can be done by using a variety of tools such as SEO tools, website speed and performance tools, behavior analytics and feedback tools.. Using them to analyze your site will help you assess its performance, compare it to competitors, understand how people use it, and find ways to improve the user experience.

What is SEO website analysis?

SEO website analysis involves auditing individual pages or entire websites to analyze how they perform on search engines, and then optimizing them to improve performance and ranking on search engine results pages (SERPs).

How do you analyze competitors’ websites?

To analyze competitor’s websites, you can use dedicated tools like SimilarWeb to identify market share, or SEMRush/Ahrefs to determine a website’s traffic volume, conduct keyword research, and plan a backlink strategy. Your analysis with competitor analysis tools should then be complemented with manual research, where you focus on researching your competitors’ website design, messaging strategy, and product mix as part of a larger SWOT (Strengths, Weaknesses, Opportunities, Threats) analysis.

What is user-driven website analysis?

User-driven website analysis is a type of analysis that lets you collect and analyze data from and about your website visitors to improve the user experience—which can lead to increased traffic and conversion rates. User-driven analysis gives more context to the insights you’ve collected from tSEO and other traditional analysis methods.

💡Pro tip: learn which user-driven tools and methods to use for website analysis, particularly for ecommerce sites.

How to Cite a Website in APA Style | Format & Examples

Published on November 5, 2020 by Jack Caulfield . Revised on January 17, 2024.

APA website citations usually include the author, the publication date, the title of the page or article, the website name, and the URL. If there is no author, start the citation with the title of the article. If the page is likely to change over time, add a retrieval date.

If you are citing an online version of a print publication (e.g. a newspaper , magazine , or dictionary ), use the same format as you would for print, with a URL added at the end. Formats differ for online videos (e.g. TED Talks ), images , and dissertations .

Use the buttons below to explore the format, or use our free APA Citation Generator to automatically create citations.

Cite a website in APA Style now:

Table of contents, citing an entire website, how to cite online articles, websites with no author, websites with no date, how to cite from social media, frequently asked questions about apa style citations.

When you refer to a website in your text without quoting or paraphrasing from a specific part of it, you don’t need a formal citation. Instead, you can just include the URL in parentheses after the name of the site:

One of the most popular social media sites, Instagram (http://instagram.com), allows users to share images and videos.

For this kind of citation, you don’t need to include the website on the reference page . However, if you’re citing a specific page or article from a website, you will need a formal in-text citation and reference list entry.

Prevent plagiarism. Run a free check.

Various kinds of articles appear online, and how you cite them depends on where the article appears.

Online articles from newspapers, magazines, and blogs

Articles appearing in online versions of print publications (e.g. newspapers and magazines) are cited like their print versions, but with an added URL.

The same format is used for blog posts. Just include the blog name where you would usually put the name of the magazine or newspaper.

Articles from online-only news sites

For articles from news sites without print equivalents (e.g. BBC News, Reuters), italicize the name of the article and  not  the name of the site.

When a web page does not list an individual author, it can usually be attributed to an organization or government . If this results in the author name being identical to the site name, omit the site name, as in the example below.

If you can’t identify any author at all, replace the author name with the title of the page or article.

In the in-text citation , put the title in quotation marks if it is in plain text in the reference list, or in italics if it is in italics in the reference list. Note that title case is used for the title here, unlike in the reference list. Shorten the title to the first few words if necessary.

When a web page or article does not list a publication or revision date, replace the date with “n.d.” (“no date”) in all citations.

If an online source is likely to change over time, it is recommended to include the date on which you accessed it.

  • Missing commas and periods
  • Incorrect usage of “et al.”
  • Ampersands (&) in narrative citations
  • Missing reference entries

website assignment

As social media posts are usually untitled, use the first 20 words of the post, in italics, as a title. Also include any relevant information about the type of post and any multimedia aspects (e.g. videos, images, sound, links) in square brackets.

On some social media sites (such as Twitter ), users go by usernames instead of or in addition to their real names. Where the author’s real name is known, include it, along with their username in square brackets:

In some cases, you’ll want to cite a whole social media profile instead of a specific post. In these cases, include an access date, because a profile will obviously change over time:

When citing a webpage or online article , the APA in-text citation consists of the author’s last name and year of publication. For example: (Worland & Williams, 2015). Note that the author can also be an organization. For example: (American Psychological Association, 2019).

If you’re quoting you should also include a locator. Since web pages don’t have page numbers, you can use one of the following options:

  • Paragraph number: (Smith, 2018, para. 15).
  • Heading or section name: ( CDC, 2020, Flu Season section)
  • Abbreviated heading:  ( CDC, 2020, “Key Facts” section)

When you quote or paraphrase a specific passage from a source, you need to indicate the location of the passage in your APA in-text citation . If there are no page numbers (e.g. when citing a website ) but the text is long, you can instead use section headings, paragraph numbers, or a combination of the two:

(Caulfield, 2019, Linking section, para. 1).

Section headings can be shortened if necessary. Kindle location numbers should not be used in ebook citations , as they are unreliable.

If you are referring to the source as a whole, it’s not necessary to include a page number or other marker.

When no individual author name is listed, but the source can clearly be attributed to a specific organization—e.g., a press release by a charity, a report by an agency, or a page from a company’s website—use the organization’s name as the author in the reference entry and APA in-text citations .

When no author at all can be determined—e.g. a collaboratively edited wiki or an online article published anonymously—use the title in place of the author. In the in-text citation, put the title in quotation marks if it appears in plain text in the reference list, and in italics if it appears in italics in the reference list. Shorten it if necessary.

APA Style usually does not require an access date. You never need to include one when citing journal articles , e-books , or other stable online sources.

However, if you are citing a website or online article that’s designed to change over time, it’s a good idea to include an access date. In this case, write it in the following format at the end of the reference: Retrieved October 19, 2020, from https://www.uva.nl/en/about-the-uva/about-the-university/about-the-university.html

Instead of the author’s name, include the first few words of the work’s title in the in-text citation. Enclose the title in double quotation marks when citing an article, web page or book chapter. Italicize the title of periodicals, books, and reports.

No publication date

If the publication date is unknown , use “n.d.” (no date) instead. For example: (Johnson, n.d.).

CS4760 & CS5760: Human-Computer Interactions & Usability

Project assignment 2 – website and interaction design.

Design and implement a website for your project. Recall that a website is a domain of HCI and your site will be evaluated accordingly. The website does not need to be elaborate, but it should serve the purpose of the users of your website. Users of your website are your development team (CS students), me (the instructor), graduate students, and your client (the scientist). We use your website to track your progress and evaluate your design and documents. Graduate students will provide additional documents for projects. When your client and I review your project, we will want to refer to the graduate student document, so your website must have links to their documents on a per document basis. Graduate students are also users of your web site. They will refer to your website to find your design documents for the project, which they need to write their documents. Consequently your design documents must be posted timely and kept current. Other users might discover you website and want to know more about your project. In the era of modern web search engines more people may view your web pages than you suspect. In fact, I have received email from some companies interested in a course project.

All design documents should be linked in your website in a format readable by all web browsers. Initially, the website will include a home page with application name, and team membership. The initial website will also contain the interaction design documents (described below). The documents are to be posted online by the due date. The documents do not have to be a single file, but they should be recognized as a group and easily navigated in the website.

You may use most any tool or templates that you’d like to make your team website. It should be a static website, meaning made up of html, jpg and pdf documents. There should not be a database backend. Consequently, something like WordPress would NOT be appropriate. The website should not have redirection, meaning in a .htaccess file. I have two goals for the website:

  • A central location to store your design documents that I can zip and save for posterity.
  • A media for sharing your documents with your client, team and grad student.

I do not expect anything elaborate in these websites in terms of styling or design. Your design for the website should pay attention to ease of access and finding documents.

Team & Project Documents:

Team contract.

Your team contract should be posted on website, so that I can view it.

Meeting Notes

After meeting with the scientists, you should post the meeting notes on the website.

Design Documents:

These are the design documents that must be posted to your website. Note that many of these documents should be a collaborative effort of the entire team.

The design documents must include:

  • Design, Develop and Maintain team Website
  • Brief overview of the system, including the device and any other device used by the system
  • Descriptions of important stakeholders, including users.
  • 2 user personas (See lecture notes)
  • Descriptions of the environment that users will be in while using the device and performing tasks
  • Scanned or transcribed notes from the interviews with the scientist and among yourselves
  • 2 scenarios describing the nominal use of the application, drawing on your personas (See lecture notes and below)
  • Simplified hierarchical task interaction design (See lecture notes and below)
  • A description of your database schema

These documents do not include sketches of the interface’s visual design; your interface’s visual design will be presented during the cognitive walkthrough.

After your website is reviewed in class, graduate students will give you links to their stakeholder analysis documents. You are to link the graduates’ stakeholder analysis to your website. The links should be clear and well organized, so that users of your web site will easily recognize them. You should also review the graduate students’ user-task-goal analysis documents and compare them to the nominal interaction diagram and scenario documents. If there is substantial disagreement, your group should discuss them with the graduate students. A good user interface cannot be designed without a thorough understanding of the users, their goals and the tasks to be performed with the interface.

Stakeholders and Users

List and describe the stakeholders. You should name their role and level in the onion model. Some specific stakeholders you may want to also give proper names, for example the scientists for your project. You should also identify the different users of app and classify them as primary or secondary. Briefly describe the user characteristics that you think are important for the design, for example are they novice or expert users.

Usability expert Carol Barnum (Usability Testing Essentials: Ready, Set…Test! Morgan Kaufman, 2010) defines personas as “fictional representations of people that are created from real data about your users” (94). Remember that although personas require creativity, the information presented should be relevant to the product or document that you are creating and should help designers “understand user motivation, fears, concerns, and goals as they relate to your product” (97).

Nominal Use Scenario

The nominal use scenario is a verbal description of a nominal (error free) sequence of events using the system. It should describe how the major stakeholders (primary and secondary stakeholders) interact with the system or the application. The description should be several paragraphs, one paragraph for each stakeholder interacting with the system.  It should read like a story.

Simplified Hierarchical Task Analysis

A complete hierarchical task analysis (HTA) diagrams the different uses of the application in a tree, where the higher level are associated with goals, intermediate levels represent the tasks to achieve these goals, and the lower levels represent actions to perform the tasks. Links in the tree associate tasks with goals, and actions with tasks. A complete HTA can consume lots of time and paper.

I suggest making a simplified HTA which dispenses with links and uses intended tabs to represent the hierarchy.  The intent of the simplified HTA is to represent the views of the application by the different indentation levels. A single indentation level may represent more than one view. Try to represent all the views. In other words, the simplified HTA still represents all the uses of the applications, but does not attempt to diagram the actions. You may need to use several indentation tables for application goals that have little in common.

I suggest using a top-down approach to develop the simplified HTA. First list all the major goals or tasks of the application; this will represent the views. Then indent and list the actions to achieve the corresponding goal or task; this will represent UI elements in the view. Try to name the tasks and sub-tasks with words that might be used in the application view.

All Citizen Science projects collect data for scientist to use. In order for the scientist to have access to the data, your app should upload the data to a website.

Domain Classes

Grails and GORM create the database table from the Grails project domain classes. The domain class is a collection of typed class members. The domain class represents the table in the database or a row of the table. The class members name represents the column names in the table.

Schema Specifications

A database schema is the design of tables composing your database. I expect that your schema design to evolve during development, but you should begin the design now. An appropriate design format is list of domain classes with an intended list of  class member names (column names in the table) with type and description. The format is:

Domain : <name> – <description>

  • var1 – <type>, <description>
  • var2, – <type >, <description>

Schema Specification Example

Suppose you are designing the “Army App” data base that soldiers use to read missions and report incidents that can have photos or recordings (read lecture notes).  Your schema design might be:

List of Domain Classes:

  • Mission – list of mission names with dates
  • Incident – list of incidents
  • Incident_photo – associates photos with missions
  • Incident_recording – associates recordings missions

Domain Class: Mission – list of missions

  • name – String, mission name
  • date – Date, date of mission

Domain Class: Incident – list of incidents

  • mission – Mission, foreign key into missions table
  • date – Date, date of incident
  • Time – long, time of incident
  • latitude – double, latitude coordinate of incident
  • longitude – double, longitude coordinate of incident
  • type – String, incident type = (civil, suspicious, littering, theft, …)

Domain Class: Incident_photo

  • incident – Incident, foreign key into incident table
  • date – Date, date of photo
  • time – long, time of incident
  • latitude – double, latitude coordinate of photo
  • longitude – double, longitude coordinate of photo
  • file_uri – String, URI (path with name) to the photo file

TABLE: Incident_recording

  • date – Date, date of recording
  • latitude – double, latitude coordinate of recording
  • longitude – double, longitude coordinate of recording
  • flie_uri – String, URI (complete path) to the recording file

CS4760 Collaboration

The entire team should have access to the directory and website. Your team will work together to create the progress and design documents indicated above. When team members finish design documents, the document should be posted on the team website.

As team members finish a document, the document should be discussed with the entire team because all the tasks and documents are associated with the design and development of your app.

Send me (pastel at mtu.edu)  an email informing me that your website is initiated (home page is up), so we can review the website and make any suggestions. The subject line of the email should be

Concept of Key design concepts and factors considered in developing a website

The planning and creation of html driven web pages to be displayed over world wide web is called website designing..

From the time a user enters the website, till the time he leaves, website design leaves a great impression on his mind. Everything else, like content, images, videos etc. come later. Design tells us ‘how’ and ‘why’ to use the site. Web designing consists of some key elements as such:

  • Website Layout – The way in which graphics, text and advertisements are arranged over the web page is called layout. The purpose is to provide information at a glance by maintaining integrity, balance and consistency all over.
  • Colour – The colour across the web page depends upon the organization and client for whom the website is being prepared. It may range from simple to classy, from black and white to multi coloured design.
  • Graphics – The arrangement of images, clipart and icons, logos to enhance the creativity are called graphics. These are needed to be placed appropriately to increase user-friendliness, in line with the colour and content of the website and keeping the load time minimal.
  • Fonts – Proper use of fonts and styles must be done which are of readable size and attract user attention.
  • Content – Usage of relevant content which may together with graphics can enhance the overall appeal of website, must be done. The text of website must always be useful and illustrative so that users may understand the underlying objective of the website. It must be keyword rich and search engine friendly to get higher franking in search results.

Some of the fundamental factors to be considered while designing a website are:

  • We need to know about our target audience, their likes and dislikes and what they really want to read about
  • We must know what is the purpose of our website, why exactly we need to develop it
  • The objective of our website, what we want our website to convey
  • While designing our website, we must sketch often. Sketches are easy to do, fast and cheap. They help us in getting new ideas which is not possible on working electronically.
  • We must also generously make use of white space. These help users give a break and helps in readability. The white space must be in sync with the font size, the colour and the content to be displayed.
  • Use of grids must be done, which is in-fact proper alignment of text.
  • On a webpage, only one single thing must be emphasized.
  • It must be considered what are competitive websites are displaying
  • Website must be easily navigable and accessible
  • Choose backend program, like content management system with care
  • Website must be compatible with various browsers
  • Website must be protected against online threats like virus attacks and online transactions, for this they need to add SSL certifications. Regular security checks need to be performed.
  • It is important to integrate with social media, which is more or less like word of mouth advertising. Customers get to know about the brand, and get in touch with the latest updates.
  • With increasing use of mobile phones, people have started using internet with variety of tablets and smart phones along with computers and laptops, these days. Therefore, website must be such that it can be viewed any kind of devices whether on mobile or on web.
  • Users must be able to surf the website quickly and easily. They must be able to grasp all the functions of the website and must be able to find out what they are looking for quickly.
  • Website must not take long time to load, it must have images that are not bulky and makes website structure smooth.
  • During website planning stage, needs of target audience must be considered.

In order to run an online business help , there are certain legal requirements which must be considered. Our website must comply to :

  • The data protection act 1998
  • The privacy and online communications regulations
  • E-Commerce regulations 2002 (In case of ecommerce portals)
  • The Companies Act 2008
  • The Disability discrimination act 1995.

The purpose of website, its users, their needs and requirements

This is an ecommerce website which targets young men and women. This website, megashop, showcases  various categories including movies, music, games, mobiles, cameras, computers, healthcare and personal products, home appliances and electronics, stationery, perfumes, toys, apparels, shoes and much more. This is a simple website with great features. It provides us with some awesome services like cash on delivery, 30 days replacement policy, EMI options, free shipping, free reverse pickup along with the great prices that they offer. Megashop website has modules like register, login, blog, FAQ, About Us, Contact Us, My wishlist, checkout, search, sign up for our newsletter. In today’s swiftly speeding scenario, young adults often do not have enough time to spend on one activity continuously. They try to handle multiple tasks at same time. Because of this, they prefer online shopping rather than traditional methods of going to market for every single purchase. Hence, this website is very useful for such people which offer wide variety of products ranging from daily use products to lifestyle products at one place. These days people want quick results in every field. With online shopping they can save fuel cost, get the facility of free home delivery of their products, pick and select from wide range of products, while sitting at their home. They just require internet connectivity from their computers or smart phones to get through the process. People can select products according to price, relevance, popularity, colour, size and varieties. We are given option to quickly view the product via ‘quick view’, to compare two similar products, add favourite products to your account wish list etc. which can be accessed later.

Proposal to meet the above user requirement

It was proposed to create an ecommerce business platform, targeting young adults and teenagers, where they can come up and discover accessories, apparels, footwear and electronics items, personal and healthcare products. Therefore, megashop was developed and designed to meet these requirements. Megashop is an online store providing all necessary items for men and women. Products have been kept at low prices and there is provision of discounts. Navigation is easy which makes user experience fruitful.

Feedback from the client and potential users

People, teenagers and adults have started realizing the benefits of ecommerce industry and shopping online like savings, earning reward points, redeeming reward points etc and have accepted it along with traditional shopping methods. Ecommerce websites are in general, easy to use and any person who has access to internet can access such sites from anyplace. Users of megashop illustrate benefits of online shopping as feedback. Many more benefits of using ecommerce websites, such as:

  • Working on these ecommerce sites saves time, energy and money as people do not have to go out to market every time they require something.
  • People get detailed information about what competitors are selling.
  • Ecommerce websites are available online for 24 hours, 7 days a week and for 365 days a year. So people can also buy on holidays without having to worry about crowd or weekend rush.
  • Customers can see online, which product is trending and which product is old fashioned. Buying decision is based on availability of product, choice, quality, colour, and price.
  • Ease of availability accompanied by ease of replacement, instant query redressal via online chat, phone call and email have brightened prospects of online shopping even more.
  • Payment methods are very secure on such websites. Technologies such as secure socket layer (SSL) and digital certificates have come into existence to provide secure payment gateways. People may make the payment via debit card, credit card, net banking or as cash on delivery.

The structure of the website, page layout and navigation

On every page, text and images are arranged in form of grid. Page is divided into three section. Header, footer, body.  Page body is divided into two parts, left and right column. Content is neatly arranged in between columns. The navigation of website is very smooth. Home page can be accessed from any of the sub pages the menu. There are forward and backward arrows to flip between the images.

Figure: Home Page

Interactive features over the website like contact and enquiry forms, checkout options

Megashop, has two interfaces that require user interaction. These are contact us form and checkout. User is required to enter his personal details like name, phone number and address and write his query in the space provided and submit it. Megashop customer care team will contact him, with the required solution at earliest. Another interface that requires customer input is the checkout screen. When user selects an item, it goes to the shopping cart. User has the facility to update the quantity in cart, add and remove items from cart, continue shopping or checkout. At checkout option, user has to enter his correspondence details, and then enter payment details. Payment can be done via credit card, net banking or debit card and is secured via SSL. User may also apply various discount coupon codes at checkout.

Utility of  html, CSS, javascript and any other languages in implementation

No matter how small our business is, it will need a web presence sooner or later. If you have slightest of idea, it can be built up into well flourished website by the use of simple web tools available across the market these days. You will find plenty of options for synching your website with social media tools like Facebook pages, twitter profiles, you tube channels and PayPal accounts. These days it’s very easy to build your own website, by making use of web design tools without skimping on quality. There are softwares available in market these days which allows us to make websites in desktop publishing format, called web authoring tools. There are various scripting languages available these days, which are used to add functionality to our websites. These help us in placing dynamic advertisements, graphic displays, menu items etc. We have client side and server side scripting languages which are helpful in validating our forms. Javascript, PHP, Python, PERL etc are examples of scripting languages. They have come up largely due to the evolution of internet as a communication medium. In megashop, I have applied javascript to validate the forms. A combination of Web Authoring Tools, Scripting Language and Markup language is essential in completion of a fully interactive website, which is appealing and user friendly. Google sites are an example of web authoring tool, which has been used here. Web authoring tools and scripting languages not only make the task of web developers easy but also save lot of time and effort of developers. The use of such tools gives a good appearance to the website and makes it look professional. Most commonly used Markup languages are HTML, XML, XHTML etc. In development of this website, I have made use of HTML, Javascript, CSS, PHP and MYSQL.

Comparison of megashop website with existing commercial websites available on internet

Internet these days has empowered people to realize their entrepreneurial dreams. To start with an online business, all that you need is an idea, some investment and your computer. There are numerous ecommerce websites these days which provide services like door step delivery, selection of wide variety of products under one roof, 30 days replacement policy, cash on delivery in addition to various discount offers, great prices and hassle free shopping experience. Megashop is a combination of all the latest techniques that are in use by popular ecommerce portals these days along with great graphics and smooth navigation facility, which makes user experience rewarding.

Listen: we know homework isn’t fun, but it is a good way to reinforce the ideas and concepts you’ve learned in class. But what if you’re really struggling with your homework assignments?

If you’ve looked online for a little extra help with your take-home assignments, you’ve probably stumbled across websites claiming to provide the homework help and answers students need to succeed . But can homework help sites really make a difference? And if so, which are the best homework help websites you can use?

Below, we answer these questions and more about homework help websites–free and paid. We’ll go over:

  • The basics of homework help websites
  • The cost of homework help websites
  • The five best homework websites out there
  • The pros and cons of using these websites for homework help
  • The line between “learning” and “cheating” when using online homework help
  • Tips for getting the most out of a homework help website

So let’s get started!

The Basics About Homework Help Websites–Free and Paid

Homework help websites are designed to help you complete your homework assignments, plain and simple.

What Makes a Homework Help Site Worth Using

Most of the best sites allow users to ask questions and then provide an answer (or multiple possible answers) and explanation in seconds. In some instances, you can even send a photo of a particular assignment or problem instead of typing the whole thing out!

Homework help sites also offer more than just help answering homework questions. Common services provided are Q&A with experts, educational videos, lectures, practice tests and quizzes, learning modules, math solving tools, and proofreading help. Homework help sites can also provide textbook solutions (i.e. answers to problems in tons of different textbooks your school might be using), one-on-one tutoring, and peer-to-peer platforms that allow you to discuss subjects you’re learning about with your fellow students.

And best of all, nearly all of them offer their services 24/7, including tutoring!

What You Should Should Look Out For

When it comes to homework help, there are lots–and we mean lots –of scam sites out there willing to prey on desperate students. Before you sign up for any service, make sure you read reviews to ensure you’re working with a legitimate company.

A word to the wise: the more a company advertises help that veers into the territory of cheating, the more likely it is to be a scam. The best homework help websites are going to help you learn the concepts you’ll need to successfully complete your homework on your own. (We’ll go over the difference between “homework help” and “cheating” a little later!)

body-gold-piggy-bank-money

You don't need a golden piggy bank to use homework help websites. Some provide low or no cost help for students like you!

How Expensive Are the Best Homework Help Websites?

First of all, just because a homework help site costs money doesn’t mean it’s a good service. Likewise, just because a homework help website is free doesn’t mean the help isn’t high quality. To find the best websites, you have to take a close look at the quality and types of information they provide!

When it comes to paid homework help services, the prices vary pretty widely depending on the amount of services you want to subscribe to. Subscriptions can cost anywhere from $2 to $150 dollars per month, with the most expensive services offering several hours of one-on-one tutoring with a subject expert per month.

The 5 Best Homework Help Websites

So, what is the best homework help website you can use? The answer is that it depends on what you need help with.

The best homework help websites are the ones that are reliable and help you learn the material. They don’t just provide answers to homework questions–they actually help you learn the material.

That’s why we’ve broken down our favorite websites into categories based on who they’re best for . For instance, the best website for people struggling with math might not work for someone who needs a little extra help with science, and vice versa.

Keep reading to find the best homework help website for you!

Best Free Homework Help Site: Khan Academy

  • Price: Free!
  • Best for: Practicing tough material

Not only is Khan Academy free, but it’s full of information and can be personalized to suit your needs. When you set up your account , you choose which courses you need to study, and Khan Academy sets up a personal dashboard of instructional videos, practice exercises, and quizzes –with both correct and incorrect answer explanations–so you can learn at your own pace.

As an added bonus, it covers more course topics than many other homework help sites, including several AP classes.

Runner Up: Brainly.com offers a free service that allows you to type in questions and get answers and explanations from experts. The downside is that you’re limited to two answers per question and have to watch ads.

Best Paid Homework Help Site: Chegg

  • Price: $14.95 to $19.95 per month
  • Best for: 24/7 homework assistance

This service has three main parts . The first is Chegg Study, which includes textbook solutions, Q&A with subject experts, flashcards, video explanations, a math solver, and writing help. The resources are thorough, and reviewers state that Chegg answers homework questions quickly and accurately no matter when you submit them.

Chegg also offers textbook rentals for students who need access to textbooks outside of their classroom. Finally, Chegg offers Internship and Career Advice for students who are preparing to graduate and may need a little extra help with the transition out of high school.

Another great feature Chegg provides is a selection of free articles geared towards helping with general life skills, like coping with stress and saving money. Chegg’s learning modules are comprehensive, and they feature solutions to the problems in tons of different textbooks in a wide variety of subjects.

Runner Up: Bartleby offers basically the same services as Chegg for $14.99 per month. The reason it didn’t rank as the best is based on customer reviews that say user questions aren’t answered quite as quickly on this site as on Chegg. Otherwise, this is also a solid choice!

body-photomath-logo-2

Best Site for Math Homework Help: Photomath

  • Price: Free (or $59.99 per year for premium services)
  • Best for: Explaining solutions to math problems

This site allows you to t ake a picture of a math problem, and instantly pulls up a step-by-step solution, as well as a detailed explanation of the concept. Photomath also includes animated videos that break down mathematical concepts to help you better understand and remember them.

The basic service is free, but for an additional fee you can get extra study tools and learn additional strategies for solving common math problems.

Runner Up: KhanAcademy offers in-depth tutorials that cover complex math topics for free, but you won’t get the same tailored help (and answers!) that Photomath offers.

Best Site for English Homework Help: Princeton Review Academic Tutoring

  • Price: $40 to $153 per month, depending on how many hours of tutoring you want
  • Best for: Comprehensive and personalized reading and writing help

While sites like Grammarly and Sparknotes help you by either proofreading what you write via an algorithm or providing book summaries, Princeton Review’s tutors provide in-depth help with vocabulary, literature, essay writing and development, proofreading, and reading comprehension. And unlike other services, you’ll have the chance to work with a real person to get help.

The best part is that you can get on-demand English (and ESL) tutoring from experts 24/7. That means you can get help whenever you need it, even if you’re pulling an all-nighter!

This is by far the most expensive homework site on this list, so you’ll need to really think about what you need out of a homework help website before you commit. One added benefit is that the subscription covers over 80 other subjects, including AP classes, which can make it a good value if you need lots of help!

body-studtypool-logo

Best Site for STEM Homework Help: Studypool

  • Best for: Science homework help
  • Price: Varies; you’ll pay for each question you submit

When it comes to science homework help, there aren’t a ton of great resources out there. The best of the bunch is Studypool, and while it has great reviews, there are some downsides as well.

Let’s start with the good stuff. Studypool offers an interesting twist on the homework help formula. After you create a free account, you can submit your homework help questions, and tutors will submit bids to answer your questions. You’ll be able to select the tutor–and price point–that works for you, then you’ll pay to have your homework question answered. You can also pay a small fee to access notes, lectures, and other documents that top tutors have uploaded.

The downside to Studypool is that the pricing is not transparent . There’s no way to plan for how much your homework help will cost, especially if you have lots of questions! Additionally, it’s not clear how tutors are selected, so you’ll need to be cautious when you choose who you’d like to answer your homework questions.

What Are the Pros and Cons of Using Homework Help Sites?

Homework help websites can be a great resource if you’re struggling in a subject, or even if you just want to make sure that you’re really learning and understanding topics and ideas that you’re interested in. But, there are some possible drawbacks if you don’t use these sites responsibly.

We’ll go over the good–and the not-so-good–aspects of getting online homework help below.

3 Pros of Using Homework Help Websites

First, let’s take a look at the benefits.

#1: Better Grades Beyond Homework

This is a big one! Getting outside help with your studies can improve your understanding of concepts that you’re learning, which translates into better grades when you take tests or write essays.

Remember: homework is designed to help reinforce the concepts you learned in class. If you just get easy answers without learning the material behind the problems, you may not have the tools you need to be successful on your class exams…or even standardized tests you’ll need to take for college.

#2: Convenience

One of the main reasons that online homework help is appealing is because it’s flexible and convenient. You don’t have to go to a specific tutoring center while they’re open or stay after school to speak with your teacher. Instead, you can access helpful resources wherever you can access the internet, whenever you need them.

This is especially true if you tend to study at off hours because of your extracurriculars, work schedule, or family obligations. Sites that offer 24/7 tutoring can give you the extra help you need if you can’t access the free resources that are available at your school.

#3: Variety

Not everyone learns the same way. Maybe you’re more of a visual learner, but your teacher mostly does lectures. Or maybe you learn best by listening and taking notes, but you’re expected to learn something just from reading the textbook .

One of the best things about online homework help is that it comes in a variety of forms. The best homework help sites offer resources for all types of learners, including videos, practice activities, and even one-on-one discussions with real-life experts.

This variety can also be a good thing if you just don’t really resonate with the way a concept is being explained (looking at you, math textbooks!).

Not so fast. There are cons to homework help websites, too. Get to know them below!

3 Cons of Using Homework Help Websites

Now, let’s take a look at the drawbacks of online homework help.

#1: Unreliable Info

This can be a real problem. In addition to all the really good homework help sites, there are a whole lot of disreputable or unreliable sites out there. The fact of the matter is that some homework help sites don’t necessarily hire people who are experts in the subjects they’re talking about. In those cases, you may not be getting the accurate, up-to-date, and thorough information you need.

Additionally, even the great sites may not be able to answer all of your homework questions. This is especially true if the site uses an algorithm or chatbot to help students…or if you’re enrolled in an advanced or college-level course. In these cases, working with your teacher or school-provided tutors are probably your best option.

#2: No Clarification

This depends on the service you use, of course. But the majority of them provide free or low-cost help through pre-recorded videos. Watching videos or reading info online can definitely help you with your homework… but you can’t ask questions or get immediate feedback if you need it .

#3: Potential For Scamming

Like we mentioned earlier, there are a lot of homework help websites out there, and lots of them are scams. The review comments we read covered everything from outdated or wrong information, to misleading claims about the help provided, to not allowing people to cancel their service after signing up.

No matter which site you choose to use, make sure you research and read reviews before you sign up–especially if it’s a paid service!

body-cheat-cheating-cc0

When Does “Help” Become “Cheating”?

Admittedly, whether using homework help websites constitutes cheating is a bit of a grey area. For instance, is it “help” when a friend reads your essay for history class and corrects your grammar, or is it “cheating”? The truth is, not everyone agrees on when “help” crosses the line into “cheating .” When in doubt, it can be a good idea to check with your teacher to see what they think about a particular type of help you want to get.

That said, a general rule of thumb to keep in mind is to make sure that the assignment you turn in for credit is authentically yours . It needs to demonstrate your own thoughts and your own current abilities. Remember: the point of every homework assignment is to 1) help you learn something, and 2) show what you’ve learned.

So if a service answers questions or writes essays for you, there’s a good chance using it constitutes cheating.

Here’s an example that might help clarify the difference for you. Brainstorming essay ideas with others or looking online for inspiration is “help” as long as you write the essay yourself. Having someone read it and give you feedback about what you need to change is also help, provided you’re the one that makes the changes later.

But copying all or part of an essay you find online or having someone write (or rewrite) the whole thing for you would be “cheating.” The same is true for other subjects. Ultimately, if you’re not generating your own work or your own answers, it’s probably cheating.

5 Tips for Finding the Best Homework Help Websites for You

Now that you know some of our favorite homework help websites, free and paid, you can start doing some additional research on your own to decide which services might work best for you! Here are some top tips for choosing a homework help website.

Tip 1: Decide How You Learn Best

Before you decide which site or sites you’re going to use for homework help, y ou should figure out what kind of learning style works for you the most. Are you a visual learner? Then choose a site that uses lots of videos to help explain concepts. If you know you learn best by actually doing tasks, choose a site that provides lots of practice exercises.

Tip 2: Determine Which Subjects You Need Help With

Just because a homework help site is good overall doesn’t mean that it’s equally good for every subject. If you only need help in math, choose a site that specializes in that area. But if history is where you’re struggling, a site that specializes in math won’t be much help. So make sure to choose a site that you know provides high-quality help in the areas you need it most.

Tip 3: Decide How Much One-On-One Help You Need

This is really about cost-effectiveness. If you learn well on your own by reading and watching videos, a free site like Khan Academy is a good choice. But if you need actual tutoring, or to be able to ask questions and get personalized answers from experts, a paid site that provides that kind of service may be a better option.

Tip 4: Set a Budget

If you decide you want to go with a paid homework help website, set a budget first . The prices for sites vary wildly, and the cost to use them can add up quick.

Tip 5: Read the Reviews

Finally, it’s always a good idea to read actual reviews written by the people using these homework sites. You’ll learn the good, the bad, and the ugly of what the users’ experiences have been. This is especially true if you intend to subscribe to a paid service. You’ll want to make sure that users think it’s worth the price overall!

Vision of Web Design 2022

Web design is a process that involves steps such as planning, thinking, and content planning. All of this is done for the organization online. With use it is not only limited to website design site help, but Web Designing also holds its use in web applications, mobile applications, and user interface!

They are often referred to as user experience instead of software development. While creating a website, the designer works with the same design, appearance, and content. Some of the latest 2020 Web Design trends are:

Larger Typing: In order to communicate clearly and effectively, larger and larger characters are used to attract attention. Websites often use large images and objects as well. This helps to send the message more effectively. Split Screen Content: This 2020 trend not only breaks old rectangular mold into two parts but also helps to transfer more to a smaller space! That’s an idea, isn’t it? While we are fighting for the right place and content, this is the best solution! Placing content in the form of a split screen also helps to include visual sequence and more. Solid Color Blocks: Some websites decide to break their page into a segment. This is where viewers can only see a series of squares and rectangles separated only by color. Such a view may result in a significant amount of content combined. Scattered Layers: Providing 2D screens in depth, placing sections between web pages is one of the most attractive options. This promotes a sense of belonging to more than just four sides of a website. Scattered layers work both with emerging content and objects placed on top of each other. Movement and Cooperation: The human brain is attracted to anything that moves. Utilizing this event is one of the latest ways to design a web for 2020 video and animation. The object that moves and interacts with the viewer in person is what attracts the customer. Our eyes focus on the moving object, which saves a lot of time on our website.

It is said that there are two common ways to design websites, namely:

Responsive design Here, the movement of content depends largely on the size of the screen. It may also indicate drop-off control over the point of what the job will look like.

Flexible design Here, the content of the fixed website is also similar to the standard screen size. Maintaining a consistent structure between devices is essential for maintaining temporary user interaction.

The Most Important Writing Exercise I’ve Ever Assigned

An illustration of several houses. One person walks away from a house with a second person isolated in a window.

By Rachel Kadish

Ms. Kadish is the author of the novel “The Weight of Ink.”

“Write down a phrase you find abhorrent — something you yourself would never say.”

My students looked startled, but they cooperated. They knew I wouldn’t collect this exercise; what they wrote would be private unless they chose to share it. All that was required of them was participation.

In silence they jotted down a few words. So far, so good. We hadn’t yet reached the hard request: Spend 10 minutes writing a monologue in the first person that’s spoken by a fictitious character who makes the upsetting statement. This portion typically elicits nervous glances. When that happens, I remind students that their statement doesn’t represent them and that speaking as if they’re someone else is a basic skill of fiction writers. The troubling statement, I explain, must appear in the monologue, and it shouldn’t be minimized, nor should students feel the need to forgive or account for it. What’s required is simply that somewhere in the monologue there be an instant — even a fleeting phrase — in which we can feel empathy for the speaker. Perhaps she’s sick with worry over an ill grandchild. Perhaps he’s haunted by a love he let slip away. Perhaps she’s sleepless over how to keep her business afloat and her employees paid. Done right, the exercise delivers a one-two punch: repugnance for a behavior or worldview coupled with recognition of shared humanity.

For more than two decades, I’ve taught versions of this fiction-writing exercise. I’ve used it in universities, middle schools and private workshops, with 7-year-olds and 70-year-olds. But in recent years openness to this exercise and to the imaginative leap it’s designed to teach has shrunk to a pinprick. As our country’s public conversation has gotten angrier, I’ve noticed that students’ approach to the exercise has become more brittle, regardless of whether students lean right or left.

Each semester, I wonder whether the aperture through which we allow empathy has so drastically narrowed as to foreclose a full view of our fellow human beings. Maybe there are times so contentious or so painful that people simply withdraw to their own silos. I’ve certainly felt that inward pull myself. There are times when a leap into someone else’s perspective feels impossible.

But leaping is the job of the writer, and there’s no point it doing it halfway. Good fiction pulls off a magic trick of absurd power: It makes us care. Responding to the travails of invented characters — Ahab or Amaranta, Sethe or Stevens, Zooey or Zorba — we might tear up or laugh, or our hearts might pound. As readers, we become invested in these people, which is very different from agreeing with or even liking them. In the best literature, characters are so vivid, complicated, contradictory and even maddening that we’ll follow them far from our preconceptions; sometimes we don’t return.

Unflinching empathy, which is the muscle the lesson is designed to exercise, is a prerequisite for literature strong enough to wrestle with the real world. On the page it allows us to spot signs of humanity; off the page it can teach us to start a conversation with the strangest of strangers, to thrive alongside difference. It can even affect those life-or-death choices we make instinctively in a crisis. This kind of empathy has nothing to do with being nice, and it’s not for the faint of heart.

Even within the safety of the page, it’s tempting to dodge empathy’s challenge, instead demonizing villains and idealizing heroes, but that’s when the needle on art’s moral compass goes inert. Then we’re navigating blind: confident that we know what the bad people look like and that they’re not us — and therefore we’re at no risk of error.

Our best writers, in contrast, portray humans in their full complexity. This is what Gish Jen is doing in the short story “Who’s Irish?” and Rohinton Mistry in the novel “A Fine Balance.” Line by line, these writers illuminate the inner worlds of characters who cause harm — which is not the same as forgiving them. No one would ever say that Toni Morrison forgives the character Cholly Breedlove, who rapes his daughter in “The Bluest Eye.” What Ms. Morrison accomplishes instead is the boldest act of moral and emotional understanding I’ve ever seen on the page.

In the classroom exercise, the upsetting phrases my students scribble might be personal (“You’ll never be a writer,” “You’re ugly”) or religious or political. Once a student wrote a phrase condemning abortion as another student across the table wrote a phrase defending it. Sometimes there are stereotypes, slurs — whatever the students choose to grapple with. Of course, it’s disturbing to step into the shoes of someone whose words or deeds repel us. Writing these monologues, my graduate students, who know what “first person” means, will dodge and write in third, with the distanced “he said” instead of “I said.”

But if they can withstand the challenges of first person, sometimes something happens. They emerge shaken and eager to expand on what they’ve written. I look up from tidying my notes to discover students lingering after dismissal with that alert expression that says the exercise made them feel something they needed to feel.

Over the years, as my students’ statements became more political and as jargon (“deplorables,” “snowflakes”) supplanted the language of personal experience, I adapted the exercise. Worrying that I’d been too sanguine about possible pitfalls, I made it entirely silent, so no student would have to hear another’s troubling statement or fear being judged for their own. Any students who wanted to share their monologues with me could stay after class rather than read to the group. Later, I added another caveat: If your troubling statement is so offensive, you can’t imagine the person who says it as a full human being, choose something less troubling. Next, I narrowed the parameters: No politics. The pandemic’s virtual classes made risk taking harder; I moved the exercise deeper into the semester so students would feel more at ease.

After one session, a student stayed behind in the virtual meeting room. She’d failed to include empathy in her monologue about a character whose politics she abhorred. Her omission bothered her. I was impressed by her honesty. She’d constructed a caricature and recognized it. Most of us don’t.

For years, I’ve quietly completed the exercise alongside my students. Some days nothing sparks. When it goes well, though, the experience is disquieting. The hard part, it turns out, isn’t the empathy itself but what follows: the annihilating notion that people whose fears or joys or humor I appreciate may themselves be indifferent to all my cherished conceptions of the world.

Then the 10-minute timer sounds, and I haul myself back to the business of the classroom — shaken by the vastness of the world but more curious about the people in it. I put my trust in that curiosity. What better choice does any of us have? And in the sanctuary of my classroom I keep trying, handing along what literature handed me: the small, sturdy magic trick any of us can work, as long as we’re willing to risk it.

Tigers Designate TJ Hopkins For Assignment

By Darragh McDonald | February 22, 2024 at 3:00pm CDT

The Tigers announced that outfielder TJ Hopkins has been designated for assignment as the corresponding move for infielder Gio Urshela , who was signed to a one-year deal earlier today.

Hopkins, 27, was with the Reds last year but has been bouncing around the league in recent months. He was designated for assignment in December when Cincy signed Austin Wynns , later getting flipped to the Giants in a cash deal. He lasted a couple of months on the Giants’ roster but was designated assignment again in mid-February when that club acquired Otto López . The Tigers claimed him off waivers two days ago but he’s now received his third DFA of the offseason.

He made his major league debut last year but hit just .171/.227/.171 in 25 games. His 94-game showing in Triple-A was much more impressive as he drew walks at a 14% clip and hit 16 home runs, leading to a slash of .308/.411/.514 and a 134 wRC+. He’s mostly played left field but has experience at all three outfield slots.

He’s never really been a highly-touted prospect but it seems last year’s strong Triple-A showing is intriguing enough for several clubs to have acquired him. He still has two option years and could be a nice depth piece somewhere. The Tigers will now have one week to trade him or pass him through waivers. Based on the way his offseason has gone so far, it wouldn’t be a surprise if he landed on another roster. If he were to pass through waivers unclaimed, he would stick with the Tigers as non-roster depth.

Come back to the Reds. I don’t understand how Fairchild and Martini have more value.

Hopefully he clears waivers, seems like a solid depth player to have.

Absolutely no surprise here!

The roster churn in Detroit continues.

Would be great if the White Sox took a run at a guy like this and dropped someone like Josimar Cousin. He has been pitching since 16 in various leagues and has NEVER had even a decent performance in the minors or Cuban league. At 25, he pitched to a 5.71 ERA in A ball, so they sent him to the Fall league where he proceeded to give up 15 runs in 15 2/3 innings. WTF are they hanging on to?

Curious? When designated for assignment during Spring Training – Do you just continue on with your Spring Training and whatever happens happens?

Probably not. I don’t know for certain but based on discussions on here and my own understanding, DFA puts you in employment purgatory essentially. I doubt you’re still working out with the team

' src=

I believe you’re pretty much correct. My understanding is you collect your belongings and go into as you say “employment purgatory”. Keeping players around after they’ve essentially been fired would eventually end up being very awkward.

I assume there must be some liability issues here. In a more perfect world a team could say to one of these guys, “you can stick around and use our facilities to work out until you clear waivers or not”.

But they aren’t getting paid. Obviously, they’re not going to hit grounders to him or let him take BP, but he can use the gym and the pitching machine….but what if he injures himself?

I would think the MLBPA might look into these cases where the player has a place to hang until his waiver window closes. Then he’s gone or sent ro the minor league camp. The team isn’t liable. The player has the cloice. No money, but at least he can do some minimal work outs.

I recall a ST a few years ago where FA were working out together at a complex. I’m not sure if that’s an every spring thing or just that particular spring. That was when the draft pick compensation was new and nobody wanted to give up the first rounders. Obviously they eventually signed.

Finding MLB roster spots for these AAAA guys is heartless. Good luck to all of them.

Agree warnbeeb, it’s pretty brutal for these guys who are damn good players btw, there needs to be a better method to the madness for them.

When the Tigers picked this guy up, everyone was excited to add such a high end prospect for so little. Now he just gets dumped for a veteran 3B who can’t hit the ball to the warning track.

Tommy Johns (@) Hopkins.

Will be interesting to see if either of the recent DFAs get through waivers. (Hopkins and Ingram) Seems like a decent chance one might.

Saints assistant jordan traylor has a new assignment in 2024, share this article.

The New Orleans #Saints are promoting Jordan Traylor to assistant QB coach, a source tells @247Sports . The 30-year old Traylor, an ex-Texas A&M QB and the son of UTSA coach Jeff Traylor, has worked for the Saints the last five years in a variety of roles, including in scouting… pic.twitter.com/Y3wSv68po6 — Matt Zenitz (@mzenitz) February 21, 2024

The New Orleans Saints are hiring within their own staff as Jordan Traylor has been promoted to the assistant quarterbacks coach, replacing D.J. Williams, per 247 Sports’ Matt Zenitz .

Traylor played college football at Texas A&M as a quarterback, and has been with New Orleans for five years now. He spent two years as a scouting assistant before joining the coaching staff as a defensive assistant. He switched to offense last season and will now move up to his new role for 2024. It’s clear that he has made a name for himself in New Orleans as he will stick around among a lot of offensive turnover on the staff.

Traylor will work closely with recently hired quarterbacks coach Andrew Janocko. It’s a positive that the Saints were able to find at least some continuity within the offensive staff as Janocko remains an up-and-coming coach at just 36 years old. Janocko could leave for a promotion of his own if Derek Carr makes rapid progress in the fall. Developing in-house replacements like Traylor is a key to sustaining success.
