GET TO KNOW MORE ABOUT US

Homework hound engages students as they make their way through a series of questions all linked to the australian national curriculum with the focus being on english and mathematics..

As a highly trusted education resource providers for Australian primary school teachers (having resourced classrooms of over 100,000 school teachers around Australia), parents of primary-aged triplets and an older daughter with autism, we found the typical homework to vary dramatically between each of our children. The workload was vastly different. In many cases, it seemed unfair when one child received twice the workload of another child in the same grade. Homework was time-consuming and uninspiring. Every afternoon became a battle between weary children and parents to get the work done.

homework hound

Homework was always the same each week and it didn’t give us any valuable insights into what our children could or could not do. We had to rely on our children’s teachers to tell us if there were any areas of challenge we should be helping our children with. Our whole family resented it.

We decided to do something about it. We put together a team of passionate senior Australian primary teachers and we set about writing homework that not only addressed the Australian curriculum and met the needs of the classroom teacher, but engaged, rewarded and provided feedback to children for their effort.

Research has shown that homework without purpose or feedback is meaningless, and that significant benefits are achieved when that homework is meaningful with constant, relevant and consistent feedback.

Homework Hound provides the most detailed reports to parents and educators. You’ll be blown away by the details you’re able to access. Children receive tailored game content and educational activities specifically prescribed for them, based on their own results.

Every child receives a weekly certificate which states their 3 greatest areas of improvement as well as their 3 areas of greatest challenge. This encourages them to measure their progress against their own previous achievements, rather than being measured against other students’ successes.

Homework Hound also provides additional optional educational activities to help improve those areas of challenge, including online games that measure improvement over time, songs developed to improve recall of times tables and number facts, ‘no-cook’ easy to follow recipes to make at home, science experiments to conduct and more.

Summary [ ]

Numbuh 5 comes face to face with a vicious dog who is always eating her homework.

While walking to school, Numbuh 5 (Abigail) comes across some creepy woods where a giant hound attacks her. She climbs up a tree and is followed by the hound, then she knocks the hound down with a piece of the tree. She is almost out of the woods when the hound attacks her backpack and rips up her homework. Abigail is injured.

Meanwhile, Valerie , an honor role student, finishes her report on why their state is the "bestest state in the whole world." The students are bored by this as Valerie added every detail to it, even notes. Mrs. Thompson lightly pushes Valerie away and asks for the other honor role student (much to Valerie's dislike) to come and read her report. Abigail comes in and says a dog ate it. Mrs. Thompson tells her to describe what she wrote on the report, but Abby said a dog ate her homework. Among hearing this, the students laugh and Mrs. Thompson angrily gives Abigail a double F minus. Valerie also disagrees and says her dog would never hurt a fly.

She follows Hoagie and Wally to help find proof in her theory that Valerie's dog did eat the paper. The dog turns out to be a cute adorable pink dog. Valerie comes in and forces Wally and Hoagie away but talks to Abigail, who demands to know where her real dog is. Valerie suddenly turns into a were poodle (werewolf) and attacks her. Meanwhile, Hoagie and Wally wanted to pet the cute pink dog more than ever. All of a sudden, Abigail and Valerie burst out the front door destroying the hinges. Wally and Hoagie look shocked to see Valerie in her poodle form. Abigail is injured once again. Then, Valerie gives chase. Abigail runs.

Abby wants Wally to give her his homework. Wally is suspicious, but Hoagie grabs the paper and throws it at Abigail. Abby gives the homework to Valerie, who faints because Wally's homework is powerful. Valerie starts to attack again, but Mrs. Thompson comes in and puts a net on Valerie. She apologizes and admits that weredogs can get out of control. She also gives Abigail a second chance to finish her homework. The teacher then shoos the kids away and says to Valerie that "the truth can never be known" and it is revealed that Mrs. Thompson is the leader of the Weredogs .

Transcript [ ]

Operation: H.O.U.N.D./Transcript

  • This is the first season final to not be a double length single story episode.
  • Dialogue from this episode suggests that both Numbuhs 2 and 4 are cat people (Despite how in Operation: T.R.I.C.Y.C.L.E. , Numbuh 2 says his family has a dog).
  • The events of this episode continue into Operation: D.O.G.H.O.U.S.E. .
  • This episode chronicles the cliché of kids telling their teacher that "a dog ate my homework". However, it also parodies werewolf lore.
  • This episode was recreated as a mission in the Operation B.E.S.T. video game.
  • There is no 2x4 technology shown in this episode.
  • Numbuh 2 is revealed to be afraid of certain kinds of dog.
  • Mrs. Thompson's class is revealed to be social studies.

Series continuity [ ]

  • And just like in Operation: R.O.B.B.E.R.S. , in this episode the villain's evil plan is thwarted by Numbuh 4's homework.

Cultural references [ ]

  • This episode and its sequel share the basic similarities with the unfinished SWAT Kats: The Radical Squadron episode, The Curse of Kataluna, which served as the basis for the direct-to-video film, Scooby-Doo on Zombie Island .
  • Numbuh 5's dad is modeled after American comedian, actor, spokesman, and media personality Bill Cosby .
  • There is a drawing of Frankenstein's monster (incorrectly called Frankenstein) on the blackboard in the classroom.
  • Abraham Lincoln 's famous Gettysburg Address .
  • Former president Ronald Reagan , who was not a general.
  • The invention of the automobile, which Numbuh 4 calls the "discovery of the automobile".
  • Numbuh 5 walks past the path to Valerie's house before the door opens, but then we see her walk past the path again from the perspective of Valerie behind the door.
  • Numbuh 5 ends up at the beginning of the scary woods after the fight with the werepoodle.
  • The classroom wall next to Numbuh 4 is empty when we are shown how bored the kids are, but there are a number of white pages attached to the wall when Numbuh 5's desk is shown to be empty.
  • Numbuh 5's empty desk next to Numbuh 4 was just shown to be occupied by Margie. She is then moved one row back in later scenes.
  • When everyone in the classroom is looking at Numbuh 5 arriving, Numbuh 4's desk is not even close the wall that he was just sitting next to.
  • The exact layout of the classroom changes between scenes.
  • After Mrs. Thompson says she will give Numbuh 5 a "double F minus", the drawing on the chalk board in the back of the classroom is missing.
  • Numbuh 2 is only holding a single sheet of paper at his desk, but is holding at least three when he starts his presentation.
  • The kids sitting behind Numbuh 5 and Valerie are missing during their hushed conversion while Numbuh 2 is talking.
  • The door to Valerie's kitchen only has a handle on one side.
  • The door is also missing from the door frame behind Valerie when she tells Numbuh 2 and 4 to drop her dog. And it's closed when the dog returns to Valerie.
  • Valerie's was completely destroyed, but some pieces are seen still hanging in the frame in later scenes.
  • When Valerie turns back to normal, she has no shoes or socks as she was barefoot. Then, she turns back into a weredog, and when she is caught, she has shoes and socks on.
  • Jennifer Hale is not credited for her voice of Mrs. Thompson in this episode.
