How to Make Paper Flowers in 12 Beautiful Ways

You give bouquets to show the depth of your love, but then they wither within a week's time. With these fun and colorful projects, the blooms—and your sweet gesture—could last a lifetime.
When you don't have a fresh bouquet, make your own beautiful blooms using crepe or tissue paper. They don't need watering, thrive even without sunlight, and never wilt. In other words, they're an easy way to ensure you can enjoy spring all year long.
With a few snips and folds and a bit of floral tape, paper can be transformed into exuberant flowers with real staying power. (Crepe paper—more durable and textured—can also be fashioned into decorative fruit and fauna .) The ideas that follow were envisioned for a party, but you don't need a special occasion to make them. As decorations, crepe paper flowers are vibrant and lovely—and they rebound well from embraces. They can be made to match the style and palette of a party in any season, even if that means pink sunflowers in January. Regardless of which type of flowers you'll make, you can practice with scraps of crepe paper in order to master several styles. Follow one of our basic techniques for paper flower-making or learn how to make a particular species of flower for a spectacular gift, centerpiece, table place setting, party favor, or decoration.
Flower for flower, faux floral arrangements are less expensive than those made with live blooms, plus they'll last for decades—not just days—if properly preserved. These projects were inspired by nature , although curly petaled and cone-shaped flowers are decidedly otherworldly. You can mix and match shapes and colors to create, say, pink daffodils or green warblers, or render your crafts to mimic Mother Nature's work. Either way, the finished pieces promise to be memorable .
Paper Daffodils
A triangular vase displays welcoming crepe-paper flowers in shades of yellow. Painted, striped petals and mottled-crepe leaves give each flower a layered look, as well as a wild personality. To add these details to the crepe paper, use a thin brush and a craft sponge.

A few strokes of watercolor paint transform basic coffee filters into beautiful paper roses. All you need is a set of watercolor paints, floral wire and tape, a bamboo skewer, and a box of disposable cone coffee filters (eight filters will make one full bloom rose).
Scented Paper Flowers
Just because your flowers are made out of paper doesn't mean that they can't smell like the real thing. A little bit of fragrance oil goes a long way with these faux blooms to give them a little something extra. Cut a 9-inch piece from the crepe paper streamer and fringe it with scissors. Dab a single cotton ball with a small amount of fragrance oil, and wrap it as the stamen with paper.

Make your very own paper flowers with the leftover paper you’ve got around! A cute little craft for kids, teens, and adults!
If you are someone who loves to spend hours working on beautiful crafts and art, then I bet you know that you can never have too many paper flowers at hand. There’s always some use to get out of paper flowers in crafts
If you’re looking to brighten up your craft session and creations, then you’ve got a ton of creative ways to do so. One of them being paper flowers! Think about it.
You’ve got a ton of craft projects that, with a couple of these gorgeous papers, can go from good to great. You can add them to photo frames, to birthday cards, or even just use them as a stand-alone project for your craft session.
Supplies You’ll Need for Flowers
Before you go planning this next craft session with the kids, take a look at the supplies you’ll need to buy:
- 4x paper squares (4’’x 4’’)
- Glitter glue
Once you’ve picked out your paper and assembled all the supplies you’ll be needing for this DIY, you can get started right away!
For this DIY project, consider working on a flat surface to help you fold and crease the paper effectively. Bring one end of the paper over to the other side, folding it diagonally over.
Make sure that the ends overlap each other, as shown below.
You will have a triangular piece of paper like this.
Grab one of the longer ends and fold the paper once more. You’ll find yourself with another triangle, albeit smaller.
Grab your marker or pen and draw an arc around one corner of the triangle. This will be your flower’s petal and should look something like the image below.
Grab a pair of scissors and carefully cut the paper across the arc.
Unfold the paper, and you’ll have the first layer of your paper flower.
Grab your scissors one again and cut out one single arc of your first layer. This will help you get that curved fold for your flower.
Once you decide how many layers you want your flower to have, you will need to cut out more and more of the petals to get the desired effect.
For example, you will need to cut out one single petal for the first or outer layer. For the second layer, you should cut two petals, three petals for the third, and so on.
This particular pattern calls for seven layers, as seen below.
Next, pick up the biggest layer of your paper flower. Grab your glue and apply some over the first arc petal, as shown below.
Bring the other end of the paper and stick it over the top of the edge you just applied glue over.
Your first layer should look something like this image, with a pointed end and curved walls.
Continue this step for all the layers of petals until you get to the last one. Roll the single petal into a cone-like center for the flower and stick it in place.
It’s time to curl the edges of your flower petals. It’s a pretty straightforward step, and all you need is a pen or marker.
Wrap the ends of the petal around the pen and carefully roll the paper to bend it into a furled curve, as seen below.
Work your way around till you’ve done the same for all the petals as well as all the layers of your paper flower.
Now it’s time to stick all the layers in place. Just dab some glue to the inside of the pointy tip of every layer and stick the outside of the next layer in.
Hold it in place to allow the layers to set and proceed to do this for all the layers of the flower.
The final layer or two of the petals will be harder to stick. So when you get to that layer, line the edges rather than the tips with glue and hold it down to the previous layer until it sticks to it.
There you go, your DIY paper flower is ready. You can make and store a ton of these flowers to use for later. But wait, there’s one final touch left.
It’s time to decorate your paper flower! You can line the edges with glitter glue or even spray a fine shimmer over it to the same effect!
Now your paper flowers are ready!
Where Can You Use These Paper Flowers?
Do you have a craft project that needs sprucing up? A picture frame, perhaps that looks a little too plain, or a birthday card you want to jazz up?
Your paper flowers could make an amazing addition to those craft projects! You can even make a paper flower montage or fill up a box frame with them and mount it on your wall as wall decor!
You can mix these paper flowers with these tissue paper pom poms and really get creative!

Grab some paper and make these beautiful DIY flowers. A perfect paper craft for the whole family to make and use for decorating!
Instructions
- Gather all your supplies and lay them out on a flat surface.
- Fold a square sheet of paper diagonally into a triangle and press to crease it.
- Fold the paper again into a smaller triangle.
- Next, grab your marker and draw an arc—this will be the shape of your petal for the first layer. Cut out the petal and unfold the paper.
- Next, cut out one single petal in this layer and set it aside.
- Note: As you work your way up every layer, you will need to cut more and more of the paper to help taper your paper flower. For example, for the second layer, you will need to cut out two petals, three petals for the third layer, and so on.
- For the tip of the flower, simply curl one single petal into a cone-like center.
- Stick all the ends of every layer together, making sure they overlap and that they have pointed ends that curve the petals inward.
- Once you’ve stuck the individual components, it’s time to stick them all together and create your flower.
- Just layer the insides of the first layer and stick the next layer over it, holding in place till it sets.
- Once your flower has dried completely, you can curl the ends using a pen.
- The final step is to decorate it with glitter glue, and your paper flowers are good to go!

How to Make Paper Flowers
Learn how to make paper flowers by hand or with an electronic cutting machine and enjoy the free paper flower templates below..
I made a rainbow of giant paper flowers to decorate my craft room and today I’m sharing the free paper flower templates and a tutorial for how you can make your own big, bold and beautiful paper flowers.
I can’t even tell you the pizzazz that these paper flowers add to my craft room and how much I’m in love. It is such a huge focal point in the room and I adore the bright colors and whimsical feel. My craft room is my happy place and these giant, colorful flowers really reflect that feeling.
Paper flowers are so fun to make, can be used in so many different ways and there are endless options for color combinations to match your decor style. Paper flowers make great decorations for weddings, baby showers, bridal showers and pretty mch every special occasion! And the best part is that the whole thing is made from nothing but paper and hot glue so they’re super affordable.
I went to Hobby Lobby and loaded up on cardstock in every color of the rainbow, literally . It takes 8 sheets of 8.5×11″ cardstock for the largest flowers shown and 3 sheets for the smallest flowers , so be sure you buy enough cardstock. Nothing’s worse than being one sheet of paper short and having to run back to the store in the middle of a project. I went when open stock paper and paper packs were all 50% off, so I feel like I scored big time.
How To Make Paper Flowers Step By Step
Making paper flowers is simple and so fun. All you need is paper, scissors and hot glue. You can use a Silhouette or Cricut machine if you have one, but cutting the petals out by hand is totally doable too. I created a video tutorial to show you exactly how to make them.

HOW TO MAKE PAPER FLOWERS BY HAND

- Cut out the flower petal templates. Trace onto cardstock and cut out with scissors. To speed up the process, you can cut through several layers of cardstock at a time.

For this particular display of paper flowers, I wanted a mix of big and small flowers with tropical greenery peeking out a bit, so I planned out which colors in rainbow order would be big and small, then mixed different flower shapes so there was plenty of variety.
It’s hard to tell in the pictures, but I found some really pretty pearlized paper at Hobby Lobby and used that for the lightest pink flower and the ombre aqua flower. It adds a subtle sparkle that I really love. I also bought a pack of vellum and created one entire flower from it. It basically disappears in pictures but is pretty in real life.
I’m even sharing the free paper flower templates for you to enjoy.
There are four files available. One file is for printing and cutting by hand and the other three are SVG files to use with a Silhouette or Cricut machine. The three SVG files are for easy paper roses, cabbage roses and peonies. You’ll see all four templates in the Google folder.
To get the templates, enter your email address right here:
Now go check your email and you’ll see an email from me that will have a link to all the templates.
I also purchased THESE cut files from the Silhouette Design Store. It’s what I used for the flower centers. I just added the slits to the bottom of each flower petal to make them more 3D.
This was such a fun project. Each paper flower is a miniature work of art and watching the rainbow of flowers come together was really satisfying. It will inspire me every day as I’m in my craft room creating.
I mean, how could you not be inspired when you look up and see this?!
DIY PAPER FLOWERS: FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
How do you attach the paper flowers to the wall.
I used thumb tacks hidden under a layer of petals. If you don’t want to put holes in the walls, the velcro-like Command strips would work well. I don’t recommend using tape unless the paper flowers will only be used as a short-term decoration. Tape tends to fall off with time.
What type of paper do you use to make paper flowers? What is the best material to make paper flowers?
Cardstock. I bought it in packs at Hobby Lobby because it was cheaper per page. You can use any kind of paper, but if you use flimsy printer paper, the flowers tend to be a little bit droopy, so I prefer cardstock. It doesn’t have to be a particular weight. This pack of cardstock on Amazon would work great.
How do I download the templates?
Enter your email address in the teal colored box above. You will get an email with the link to download the templates.
What size do I cut out the petals?
Any size you want! You can adjust the sizes of any of the templates in Silhouette Studio or if you’re cutting the petals by hand, adjust the pattern on the computer before printing. You can adjust the size in software such as Paint, Photoshop, Illustrator, or PicMonkey.
As a reference, the largest flower in the photos is sized so that the largest outside petals fit ONE petal per 8.5×11″ sheet of paper. That’s a very large petal!
What size do I cut out the circle bases?
This isn’t an exact science… but as a starting point, if you’re making the largest size flower with one petal per 8.5″x11″ piece of paper, you’d need a circle that’s about 3 inches in diameter and progressively smaller circles for smaller sized flowers.
Where did you get the leaf patterns?
I purchased a cut file from Silhouette Design Store . They had a ton to choose from! If you are cutting leaves by hand, Google “jungle leaves” and print one out to use as a pattern.
I can’t open the free files. What’s wrong?
The number one reason people can’t access the files is that they are at work and their work server blocks access to Google Drive. This is especially true for school districts. Try opening the files again at home or from an unrestricted computer and see if that helps.
Aren’t these flowers a huge dust collector?
Not really. And when I notice they’re dusty, I spray them down with canned air (or blow air out of my shop vac), then vacuum the floor. Easy peasy!

This is AMAZING!!! I love it!!!!
Thank you, Megan! I love it too. It makes me ridiculously happy every time I walk in the room.
September 26, 2018
Jennifer can you tell me how I can make a large poinsettia. Would I not curl the edges? And any suggestions for natural materials to make the center would be very much appreciated!
Thank you!!!
April 5, 2017
Thanks for sharing! I've been looking for something over my windows in my craft room also!
You should definitely make some flowers. They are so happy and fun!
You chose beautiful colors! Love this idea!
Thanks Jenny! When I'm working on a craft I can just look up for color inspiration!
Wow… I'm not one to have flowery things but this looks amazing indeed! I'm inspired just looking at the picture 🙂
Thanks so much, Miriam!
So beautiful. I especially love all of the bright colors. Great job!
Hello I have a weird question for you? How many do I need to cut with the cut files on each petal to make it fuller and thicker? I hope that makes sense hah!! thank you so much for this great idea you are very very talented!!!!
Thank you Melissa! I would do 8-10 petals on each size of layer, then stack four or five layers together. Does that help?
June 13, 2017
Hello! Thank you so much for providing these cut files! Did you create other sized petals for multiple layers in Silhouette? For example, your cabbage roses look like there are more than 3 layers. Also, did you purchase the cut files from the Silhouette Store for the flower centers? Thank you again!
June 14, 2017
I did create more layers using the shapes in the cut files, depending on how large I wanted each flower to be. The largest flower shown has one petal per 8.5×11 sheet of paper… it was huge!
And yes, I did buy some of the flower centers from the Design Store. But you may already have some different shapes that would work.
Good luck making your flowers!
July 26, 2018
I went to the link you added for the center portion of the flowers but it went to all of her designs..all 23 pages. Do you know the name of the one or ones you bought. I can’t wait to add this design to my classroom.
July 29, 2018
My favorite center is this one: https://www.silhouettedesignstore.com/view-shape/122654
May 7, 2021
I have made flowers just like that but these are more detailed I will put them in y classroom!
April 6, 2017
Thanks for these files! I love making paper flowers with my Silhouette Cameo, but still have yet to make any giant flowers. (I think I just need a good excuse.) 🙂
I love making big flowers. They're so fun! I hope you get a chance to make one soon!
Hello! I am a cricut user and the cut files don't work for my machine, would you have the SVG version? Would really love to give this a try! Thank you 🙂
I tried uploading some of the files as SVG files. Did you see that there are two different file types in the Google folder linked above? It was a little tricky to get them to convert to SVG for some reason. The good news is that you can always download the printable template and just trace the shapes in your cricut software.
Thanks so much for sharing. I love these!
You're so welcome!
I am in awe.
THank you so much!
I love this!! I have downloaded the .svg files and noticed that 2 files have different sizes and the cabbage rose are all one size. For example, the cabbage rose. What size are the petals for each layer. I would hate to waste paper cutting the wrong sizes. Thank you
The cool thing about this project is that you can make them any size you want! For the very largest flower shown, I cut one petal per 8.5×11 piece of paper. Most of hte other flowers had about 4 petals per 8.5×11 paper to give you an idea of size. Just scale them so each set of petals is a bit smaller than the last, if that makes sense.
April 7, 2017
Hi there! I've been wanting to do this exact thing for so long in my girls' room but I am having a hard time finding instructions. Do you have a link or website you used to for constructing these?
Did you watch the video above? Basically you just cut out the petals, fold them together at the base where the slit is, then glue the petals onto a circle. Make a small, medium and large set, then glue them together.
April 8, 2017
Love these and want to do this in a miniature version for my daughter's American girl doll house,
That is a completely adorable idea!!! If you do really small flowers, try Googling "rolled paper flowers." They are quicker to make because it's all one piece, so no individual petals. I just don't love them when they get really big.
April 9, 2017
These are great! How did you affix the flowers to the wall?
I used push pins, but if you don't want holes in the wall, you could use those Command Strips that look like velcro.
These are beautiful. Which 3D flowers did you use from Silhouette? Thank you.
I used several different flowers from Carina Gardner. I added the slits on the bottom to help them have more shape. Without the slit on the bottom, they lay too flat. This is one of the flowers I bought: https://www.silhouettedesignstore.com/view-shape/122654
Oh thank you so much. And the larger flowers you just enlarged the pattern?
You must have the larger Silhouette machine? I just have the small one so mine would be smaller unless I cut them by hand 🙁
April 10, 2017
I actually only have the smaller Silhouette machine. The biggest flower shown is one petal per 8.5×11 sheet of paper. I resized things in Silhouette Studio.
Oh perfect then, thank you.
April 14, 2017
Hi Jennifer, gorgeous flowers! Is there are circle file available for the SIL? And how do the peony flowers go together? Thank you! 🙂
I didn't include the circle file because they're pretty simple to make on your own in Silhouette Studio. Just click on the circle tool and make three circles measuring around 2 inches, 3 inches and 3.5 inches.
All of the flowers go together in the same way… round off the petals, fold the bottom slit over on itself and secure with hot glue, then glue the petals to a circle. Repeat for 3 rounds in different sizes…
The only difference with the peonies is to roll the petals toward the center of the flower instead of away from the center, if that makes sense.
Does that help?
January 15, 2020
theres no slit for bottoms of Poenies petals on any layer…?
January 17, 2020
Hi Magen, That’s my bad. Just go ahead and add your own slits with scissors! I’ll try to update the pattern soon.
April 17, 2017
Thanks so much for the templates. Hopefully I can figure this all out. I've watched the video 3 times! 🙂
April 24, 2017
Are the leaves from the Silouette store as well?
Yes! There are a ton of options in the store.
April 27, 2017
Thank you!! Hoping to make a photo-booth for daughter's grad party and these would be perfect!
April 28, 2017
Perfect idea! That will be so cute!
Love these and can't wait to try!! My daughter has the same triangles on her wall. Can you tell me where you got the actual window treatment? It would look awesome in her space!!
It's a roman shade that I made myself from Nate Berkus fabric available at JoAnn.
Wow!Loved it! Thanks for sharing
How did you secure them to the wall?
April 29, 2017
I used push pins, but you could use the velcro style Command Strips if you don't want to make any holes in the wall.
May 6, 2017
The cabbage rose files are all the same size 15×11.5, what paper did you cut these out on?
I can't find cardstock that is bigger than 12×12, I have a 12×24 mat for the Silhouette but can't find large enough paper to cut this cabbage rose out in one piece
May 7, 2017
You should be able to adjust the size in the Design software. Just click on the images, then drag them smaller.
May 29, 2017
Muchas gracias, saludos desde Ecuador. Todo está muy lindo!
June 1, 2017
Beautiful flowers, will be making some for my classroom! Random question, where did you get the curtains?
I made the curtains with fabric from Joann. The fabric is from the Nate Berkus line and it's in the section of big rolls of home decor fabric.
These are beautiful flowers! I will be making some for an Alice in Wonderland baby shower, I don't have a hobby lobby by me so I need to order cardstock online, did these color sheets come in a book, or do you know if I can order loose sheets online?
Do you have a Michael's near you? They sell cardstock in packs for a good price.
June 27, 2017
how did you get a flower with the pedals separated and not one 2d flower
June 28, 2017
I'm not sure what you mean. Did you watch the video? Did you download the template? You cut each petal out individually, then glue them together to make a 3D flower.
July 5, 2017
wow nice i want make for my doter have any batern
July 19, 2017
This is beautiful. Is there a template to hand cut the leaves?
No, but if you Google "tropical leaves" there are a lot of images that you could print and use as a pattern.
July 23, 2017
These are gorgeous! I am making these for my classroom!
July 24, 2017
I'm going to make these for my new granddaughter's room!!! I would love to have the pattern for the largest one, the one that you said the largest petals where cut use one sheet per petal. Thank you for these patterns, I can't wait to start!
July 28, 2017
HI! I do have a silhouette and I am having trouble getting the files to open in my silhouette studio. Do you have ideas or tips on how I should go about doing this? I am new to this silhouette world and need some tips.
August 8, 2017
If you click on "3D Paper Flower Cut Files" above in this post, it will open Google Drive with the files. Then, look for the heading that says Folders. The Silhouette files are in there. The other ones that pop up are SVGs which you need the Designer Edition of Silhouette Studio to open. Hope that helps you! I'm cutting my petals now! Wish me luck! 🙂
March 6, 2018
THANK YOU!!! I drove myself crazy yesterday trying to save and open those files in my silhouette studio. I finally gave up and downloaded 2 flower templates I found elsewhere. Today I opened google and was going to just find some templates there but read your comment. It worked and now I have all the different templates! I bought one file in the silhouette store but that had the center she used so still a good thing. You rock!!!! Thanks!!!
August 16, 2017
Hi are we able to use the templates for commercial use? To create paper flowers to sell? Thanks again!
No, sorry. Personal use only.
October 25, 2017
Hi, this may be silly. But this will be my first time doing this and I just wanted to know if there are instructions?
Yep! There's a video tutorial in the post that will walk you through the steps.
July 6, 2018
I can’t see the video tutorial. Am I missing something?
The video tutorial is between the subheadings “How To Make Paper Flowers” and “Instructions for Silhouette Paper Flowers.” It’s a darker image with two black bars on either side and a triangle play button in the middle. Hopefully that helps!
November 22, 2017
I would LOVE more instructions on how to do this. I think this would be so cute in my kids toyroom but have no idea where to even start. I understand that you use flower files… but then how are you building the flowers together? I'd love a longer youtube video tutorial <3
Thanks for the feedback, Nadia. It helps me know what is most useful for my readers.
Did you watch the video in this post? It's quick, but it shows you the steps.
I DO have a more in-depth video in the works, but it probably won't be done until January because I'm so busy making holiday crafts right now.
December 8, 2017
Hello, love this, where did you get the circle template for the flower to glue it on
December 9, 2017
Any circle will do. Try tracing a CD or plate. Or make a circle using the shape tool in Silhouette Studio.
April 29, 2018
Thank you for sharing the templates for these beautiful flowers! I haven’t downloaded them yet, but wanted to meanwhile watch your video. Unfortunately, I cannot find your YouTube link. ☹️ Can you direct me?
May 4, 2018
Hey Lani, I’ve been doing some website maintenance and some of my videos disappeared. I have it embedded again in this post, so hopefully that helps.
May 5, 2018
Love this! I’m going to make some for my daughters room! I don’t have a machine so I’m going to do it all by hand but doesn’t seem that hard. Quick question: if I were to do it by hand what kind of paper should I use? Is it like card stock?
Oops never mind just found my answer in your instructions lol sorry! Thank you for this site!!
May 14, 2018
I love it all but im have the hardest time printing only the large rose! The other pages printed fine but this one isn’t! Is there anything else i can do?
May 16, 2018
I’ll have a look at it and see if I can figure it out.
May 15, 2018
How are they attached to the wall?
Thumb tacks
May 24, 2018
Hobby Lobby is selling paper flowers like this with gold trim and they’re only $4 to $12 depending on size… BUT I may just copy them now with paper I already have 😁 Thank you for sharing this!
They’ve started selling several different types of big paper flowers, which is so great for people who don’t have the time to make them.
June 4, 2018
How did you attach them to the wall?
I used push pins.
June 9, 2018
I cannot find the link to download the file. What am I missing? Haha! Thank you!
June 11, 2018
In the post there is a teal colored box with the words “Get the Printable Files” in it. Enter your email address there and it’ll send the files to your email.
June 15, 2018
Is this template still available — I clicked and confirmed per instructions from Return email and still have not received template — thank you.
I just tried the box and it worked for me. Enter your email. Then it’ll send you an email where you confirm your subscription. Then a window pops up with a link to the files. If you are on a work computer, sometimes they block access to files like this.
Them are so cool looking!! Now I wanna make some! (Even though I have a million other projects staring me in the face) 😁
July 8, 2018
Hi! I love these so much and want to make them for my little girls room! Quick question though….I’m sure they get a little dusty and I’m just wondering how you dust them?
July 9, 2018
I’ve been using canned air. Easy peasy!
I have a question… so this is super random but some girl was making these and selling them. I bought some for my daughters room… but the petals have started to uncurl and going back to being straight. So my flowers look weird and not cute anymore. What do you suggest I do to try and fix them?
Is it humid where you live? That’s the only reason I can come up with for them uncurling. You can try shaping the edges around a pencil to give them their curl back.
July 10, 2018
No it is not humid at all… but I just remembered we used her humidifier alot this winter when she was sick. That probably did it. I will try to use a pencil and hope it works! If not I will be making her some more. Thank you for your reply 🙂
July 12, 2018
Hi! I’m so excited to use your tutorial to create these beautiful flowers!! Quick question, where did you get the template for the leaves? Maybe I’m overlooking it. 🙂 Thanks so much! Truly beautiful!!
I purchased a leaf cut file from the Silhouette Design Store.
July 14, 2018
do you have templates for the leaves? I’m going to be making these by hand
July 16, 2018
I don’t, but if you google “jungle leaves” you should be able to find a leave shape you like, print it out and use it as a pattern.
July 17, 2018
Thank you so much for the paper flower files, instructions and video! This is exactly what I’ve wanted for my great granddaughter’s nursery. I’m going to go watch the video now!
You’re very welcome Lynn! I hope you have a lot of fun making them!
How do you assemble the peony flower? Is it 6 to 8 of each shape?
Did you watch the video tutorial? You put six to eight petals of each size together around a paper circle base.
August 2, 2018
Paper Flowers have always scared me but I just got a silhouette and now after reading this I’m feeling inspired to tackle something life this for my craft room this weekend. Thanks for the files and inspiration!
August 3, 2018
Hurray! I’m so happy to hear that. I love making paper flowers… they are so fun! Enjoy!
August 22, 2018
This is so beautiful and the way the different colors blend together is amazing… I will try this . Thanks
August 30, 2018
How did you use only 8 sheets of 8.5×11 sheets of paper for the largest flower if the base layer has 8 petals that are as large as the 8.5×11 sheet of paper?
August 31, 2018
Ah… you’re right! It took 8 sheets JUST for the outside layer! I’ll go in and fix that. It must have taken more like 10 or 11 sheets. Oops!

What is the width of your window? I’m planning on doing this for my classroom and my window has a span of 12 ft. This way I can kind of gauge how many more flowers I’ll need to add in.
My window is about 5 1/2 feet across.
October 3, 2018
In order to download Files, I had to download a program called Silhouette Studio. Once there, I had to select the designs and change it to a black outline (instead of red) and increase the line to 2.00pt. I also had to select ‘show print border’ and adjust my print size down to 95-97% so that it wouldn’t get cut off.
Note, the instructions are not posted with the designs so you will have to return to the website to get the exact step by step instructions.

Hi. Thanks for sharing the free templates.
Only one template has directions. Do we use the same directions for all the templates (peonies, cabbage svg)
I am so confused.
November 5, 2018
All of the flowers are made in the same way, they just have different shaped petals.
January 10, 2019
Amazing. You just solved one of my life puzzle. Thanks a bunch.🌻🌼
February 25, 2019
How do you know what sizes to cut the circle (the base) for each layer?
I just eyeballed it. Or you can lay the petals out in the shape that you want them and then measure about what size the hole is in the middle. It doesn’t have to be super precise.
April 9, 2019
Can someone email the printable template because the link to download it isn’t showing for me 🙁
April 13, 2019
Click where it says, “Download the free paper flower templates”
May 26, 2019
Can these be put on stems to use in a vase?
May 28, 2019
These flowers are flat on the back, so they wouldn’t work very well to put in a vase.
June 28, 2019
These are beautiful, which pattern goes with the light teal one that has the pointed petals- it is on the right side. I am making these to match my Steam classroom. so excited to do this 🙂
February 6, 2020
Where can the scissors be purchased that you used for the fringe (flower centerpiece)?
February 10, 2020
You can find them on Amazon or at Michaels/Hobby Lobby/Joann. They’re called fringe scissors.
March 6, 2020
Hi! How in the world do you curl the petals so that they’re smooth? I tried curling a few around a pencil (and I also tried a pen), but they wind up looking like a lot of creases instead of a nice smooth curve. 🙁
March 9, 2020
That’s weird! I’m not sure why you’re having trouble with it. Maybe try a thicker Crayola marker or something like that?
You have to curl them and then hold them for a few minutes.
May 31, 2020
Oh, what a cool idea! thank you for the templates! super
July 4, 2020
very beautiful flowers! thanks for idea
September 9, 2020
Thank you soo much
I have a question will you tell if I can make smaller ones so we can make them for mothers day.
May 10, 2021
Yes, you can make them any size!
May 29, 2022
For the center flowers, when I click on the link to the silhouette store to buy the center pieces, it comes up with lots of choices. Many…which ones did you use and what material did you make the centers with? vinyl, cardstock? Also, did you also cut a small circle as the center base for each flower?
June 1, 2022
I used Design ID 195517 for the center cutouts and I cut them out of cardstock. And yes, I cut cardstock circles for the flower bases.

And arranging paper flowers is easy, too! We’ll add a foam hemisphere to the vase, and attach the flowers directly using a hot glue gun .
I’ll even show you how to make stems for some of your flowers using floral wire and wire cutters, so you can add height and dimension to your paper flower bouquet.
In theory, you could cut this project by hand (and I include PDFs in the file in case you want to), but I’ll show you how to do it the easier (and quicker) way with a cutting machine . I’ll be using my Cricut Maker 3, but you can cut your paper flower bouquet on any Maker or Explore model. My files for this tutorial are a bit too big for the Cricut Joy, but you can resize the vase and flowers to fit, or make a tiny bouquet with my miniature rolled paper roses .
But if you want to try without a cutting machine, creating the vase and bow by hand isn’t difficult — and it’s a lovely way to display faux flowers!
Paper flowers are really one of my favorite crafts, and I love that they’ll never need to be thrown out . Think of all the possibilities: Centerpieces and bridal bouquets for weddings , a timeless gift for a friend, or even just a way to have bright and cheery blossoms in your space — without having to shell out money every week for a fresh bunch! I simply adore paper flowers, and can’t wait to see yours burst into bloom, too!

Instructions
Step 1: get my free paper flower bouquet design files.
First, download my Paper Flower Bouquet SVG/DXF/PDF files from my free resource library. It's Design #488 . I’ve included a file for the vase, five separate files for each of the flowers I used, and one file for the leaves.
I’m going to show you how to make the paper vase and fill it with a few different types and sizes of paper flowers, including some broad petal dahlias, gerbera daisies, carnations, and gardenias.
Upload your chosen SVG files to Cricut Design Space.
TIP: If you're not sure how to upload an SVG cut file to Cricut Design Space, watch this helpful video training series I made. If you're on an iPhone or iPad, here's how to download and upload SVG files to the Cricut Design Space app .
STEP 2: PREPARE AND CUT YOUR DESIGNS
Prepare and Cut the Vase
Add the vase file to your Canvas. You can zoom out to see all of the design by clicking on the minus (-) sign on the lower left.
This is what my Paper Flower Bouquet vase design looks like on my Canvas.
The design is set up to make one vase approximately 6” wide and tall. The large yellow rectangle is the inner part of the vase, which we'll attach to the two blue circular pieces for the top and bottom to make a cylinder shape. The blue rectangle is the outer part of the vase, which we’ll squish down to create a rounded shape with slits that will show the inner yellow vase. The five small yellow pieces are for the outer ribbon and bow.
The opening at the top of the assembled vase is the perfect size for the 4” x 2” floral foam hemisphere from my materials list. If you’re using the same foam hemisphere, I don’t recommend resizing the designs. If you’re using a different-sized foam hemisphere, you can measure its diameter and resize your vase accordingly. The diameter of the foam hemisphere I used is about 3.5”.
If your diameter is larger or smaller than that, enlarge or reduce the design until the inner circle of each of the blue circular pieces (the section without the tabs) is about the same size as your foam hemisphere's base. Make sure to select everything when resizing and keep the lock icon closed to maintain the proportions.
You may need to resize the flower designs to fit your new vase size also.
If you want to change the color of any of the elements, you can do that now. Just click the “Ungroup” button at the top of the Layers Panel (the two stacked squares on the very left) and select the object you want to change. Then select the color swatch box next to “Operation” in the top menu, and click on a new swatch to change the color.
The vase design is now ready to cut! Check that the right machine is listed in the top right corner, then click "Make It.”
If prompted, click “On Mat,” “12 in x 12 in,” and “Confirm.”
You should see two mats on your Prepare screen. If everything looks good, click “Continue” in the bottom right.
On the Make screen, select your material settings. We can use the "Medium Cardstock - 80 lb (216 gsm)” setting for all of our vase pieces. Change the Pressure to "More" for cleaner cuts.
TIP: If you’re using the same cardstock for all your mats and the “Remember material settings” box is available, check it to save time between cuts!
Place your first mat's cardstock face up on your green StandardGrip machine mat and use a brayer to make sure it's fully adhered. Check that your Fine-Point Blade is clean and in Clamp B. Then, load the mat into the machine and press the flashing button to begin cutting.
When the cut is finished, unload the mat, flip it over, and roll it back to release the cardstock. This helps prevent the material from curling and ripping.
Follow the steps above to cut and remove your remaining pieces from the mat.
Here's what my cut pieces for the paper flower vase look like.
Prepare and Cut the Flowers
If you’re making paper flowers, add your chosen flower and greenery files to your Canvas. You can zoom out to see all of the designs by clicking on the minus (-) sign on the lower left.
This is what my paper dahlia, Gerbera daisy, small daisy, gardenia, carnation, and leaf designs look like on my Canvas.
I’ve sized all the flower and leaf designs in the Paper Flower Bouquet folder to perfectly fit the vase and foam hemisphere. The assembled dahlias, large Gerbera daisies, carnations, and gardenias are approximately 3” wide. The small daisies are approximately 1” wide.
For my bouquet, I made two yellow dahlias (using two shades of yellow), two blue dahlias (using two shades of blue), two yellow Gerbera daisies (using two shades of yellow), three blue Gerbera daisies (using two shades of blue), four white gardenias, two yellow carnations, two white carnations, approximately 18 small white daisies, and approximately 20 leaves (10 of each style).
If you want to change the size or color of any of your flowers, do that before clicking “Make It” by following the steps above in the “Prepare and Cut the Vase” section.
Once your flower designs are ready to cut, check that the right machine is listed in the top right corner, then click "Make It.”
The number of mats on your Prepare screen will depend on the number, color, and size of flowers you’re making. If you’re using 8.5” x 11” paper for any of your pieces, you’ll need to change the Material Size for those mats from “12 in x 12 in” to “8.5 in x 11 in (Letter).” Once you’ve changed the size of your first mat, the remaining mats of the same color will change to match so you don’t have to change each one individually.
Check to make sure nothing is missing. If everything looks good, select your first mat again and click “Continue” in the bottom right.
On the Make screen, select your material settings. The "Cardstock (for intricate cuts)” setting works well for the intricate flower pieces. To find it, click "Browse All Materials" and type "Intricate" in the search bar. Then select the result, click "Done," and leave the Pressure at "Default."
When the cut is finished, unload the mat, flip it over, and roll it back to release the cardstock. This helps prevent the material from curling and ripping. Move slowly and use a spatula to carefully remove the intricate pieces from the mat.
Repeat the same steps for the rest of your mats. The mats with intricate details will take longer to cut. You can use your scraper tool to remove any bits of paper left on your mat after cutting the intricate layers.
Here's what my cut pieces for the paper flowers and leaves look like.
STEP 3: ASSEMBLE THE PAPER FLOWER BOUQUET
Assemble the Vase
Find the large rectangular piece (the one without slits) and the two circular pieces. These will form the cylinder-shaped inner vase.
Gently roll the rectangular piece from a short edge, making a tube with the cardstock. This will encourage it to curve and make it easier to attach to the top and bottom circles. If you’re using paper with a different color or pattern on each side, make sure to roll it so the side you want showing is on the outside.
Take one of the circular pieces and fold the tabs at 90-degree angles where their corners meet. Do the same thing with the other circular piece. If you’re using paper with a different color or pattern on each side, make sure to fold the tabs away from the side you want showing.
Now we can glue the top and bottom circles to the curved side piece. Apply glue to a single tab on one of the circles and then press the long edge of the rectangular side piece against it. The top edge of the side should be flush with the circle.
Wait about fifteen seconds for the glue to dry. It doesn’t matter which part of the side piece you attach first, but I started at one end and worked my way toward the other end.
It’s much easier to glue the top and bottom of the cylinder at the same time. To do this, take your other circle and apply glue to a single tab. Press the long edge on the opposite side of the rectangle piece against it.
NOTE: If you will be adding flowers with full-length stems to your finished vase, you can leave the top circle off so you have an open vase.
Both circles should now be attached to the side piece at opposite ends. Before gluing the rest of the tabs in place, make sure the correct side of your paper is facing outward on each piece.
Continue gluing the tabs to the side piece one at a time, waiting for the glue to dry completely between each one. Doing this part slowly will encourage the paper to curve instead of fold or bend.
It helps to alternate between the top and bottom pieces, gluing the tabs for each circle at the same pace. As you go, check periodically to make sure the side of your vase isn’t too far above or below the top and bottom pieces.
Once you’ve attached the last tabs, you’ll notice that the two ends of your side piece overlap each other slightly. You can close up your cylinder by applying a thin line of glue along the edge in this area. Gently run your finger along the overlapped pieces to make sure they adhere well.
The inner vase is complete! Now let’s attach the outer vase piece to it.
Grab the large rectangular piece with slits. You’ll notice that the slits don’t go all the way to the edges of the cardstock. The gap is larger at one end. This won’t matter if your vase is closed at both ends. If you have an open vase, make sure you attach the edge with the larger gap at the open end of the vase. That’s the area where we’ll attach the ribbon and bow later, so it needs to be at the top.
We’ll attach the bottom of the outer vase first. Starting at one end, apply a thin line of glue -- about an inch or two long -- to the inside of the rectangle piece at the end with the shorter gap.
Press it against the assembled inner vase along the bottom. I attached mine right next to the seam on the cylinder so both of my seams would be in the same area.
Before the glue dries, wrap the rest of the outer piece around the cylinder, making sure the bottom edge completely aligns with the bottom of the cylinder. If it’s crooked at all, adjust it now. Once you have the outer piece positioned correctly, hold the glued section in place until it dries -- about fifteen seconds.
Continue attaching the rest of the bottom edge, adding glue in small sections at a time. Make sure the glue is completely dry before attaching the next section, and keep checking that the bottom edges are aligned as you go.
When you reach the end, add a small line of glue to the area where the two edges overlap. Make sure you only glue the bottom section underneath the slits and don’t get any glue above that. Otherwise the slits may not work how we want them to later.
Now you can glue the top of the outer vase in place. You’ll need to push down on the cardstock until the top of the outer piece is aligned with the top of the vase. When you push down, the slits in the paper should bulge out, creating a rounded shape.
Add some glue to the top edge of the outer piece at one end. Make sure you don’t get any glue below the slits.
Press down and hold the glued section in place against the inner vase for at least fifteen seconds. Make sure the top edge of the outer piece is aligned with the top of the vase. The cardstock will want to spring back up, so make sure you press down with enough pressure to keep it in place until the glue dries.
Continue attaching the rest of the top edge, adding glue to small sections at a time, just like how you attached the bottom edge.
Once you reach the end, add a small line of glue to the area where the two edges overlap, making sure the glue doesn’t go below the slits.
You should now have a vase with a rounded section in the center where the inner cylinder can be seen through the slits.
Now we can attach the ribbon and bow at the top.
Grab the long rectangular piece. This will be the ribbon. Apply a small amount of glue at one end. Press that end against the vase in the area with the seam, about half an inch below the top.
Wrap the rest of the ribbon around the vase, making sure it’s straight and the ends will be lined up with each other. Adjust its position if needed before the glue dries.
Once the first end is completely attached, apply a small amount of glue to the opposite end and attach it to the vase, making sure the two ends line up with each other. They will overlap just a bit.
Now grab the bow piece, which sort of looks like sunglasses lenses. Use a bone folder or scraper to gently curve the rounded “lens” areas so they can be folded inward toward each other and glued at the center to make two loops of a bow.
Apply a dot of glue to the small end of each loop and attach them to the thin section in the center of the piece. Be careful not to fold or crease the loops as you do this.
Next, take the small rectangle and glue one short end to the back of the bow, which will be the same side to which you glued the loop ends. Orient the rectangle piece so the long edges are perpendicular to the bow loops.
Now wrap the rectangle piece around the front of the bow and glue the other end to the back side, directly on top of the first end.
Take the two remaining pieces -- the bow ends -- and glue them to the back of the bow at angles. Once they’re attached, it should look like a real bow with ribbon ends peaking out from underneath the bow’s loops on either side.
Lastly, you can add the finished bow to the front of the vase -- the side opposite the seams -- by applying a dot of glue to the back center and pressing it against the ribbon strip on the vase.
If you’re making paper flowers without stems for your vase like I am, there’s one more thing you’ll need to do to prepare your vase.
NOTE: If you're using store-bought silk or artificial flowers with full-length stems and you left the top of your vase open, you can skip this step.
First, plug in and turn on your hot glue gun.
Take a foam hemisphere and remove the shrinkwrap from it (if there is any). Make sure the bottom is nice and flat so it can sit evenly on top of the vase’s top circle.
Once the glue gun is preheated, put the hot glue finger caps on and apply a generous amount of glue to the bottom of the foam hemisphere.
Press it down onto the top of the vase and make sure it’s centered within the circle. Hold it in place until the glue dries, which shouldn’t take long.
Your finished vase should look similar to mine.
Assemble and Attach the Flowers
You can fill your vase with any type and number of flowers you wish — the possibilities are endless! I have several paper flower designs on my blog, but I’m just going to cover the four types I made for my vase in this tutorial.
If you're making broad petal dahlias, you can follow my Paper Dahlia Tutorial to assemble them. Just skip down to the section titled "8" Broad Petal Dahlia" under "Step 4." For the purposes of this Paper Flower Bouquet tutorial, you can disregard the steps for making the larger broad petal dahlias.
If you're making the 3" Gerbera daisies or 1" small daisies, you can follow my Paper Daisy Tutorial to assemble them. For the larger daisies, I've already separated the inner and outer petals so they can be cut on different colors of cardstock and glued together before rolling. The small daisies don't include the inner petals, so you will only need one color of cardstock for each.
If you're making gardenias, you can follow my Quilled Paper Gardenia Tutorial to assemble them.
If you're making carnations, you can follow my Rolled Paper Carnation Tutorial to assemble them.
Here's what each of my assembled flowers looks like.
NOTE: If you don't want to add a stem or sepal onto your finished flower, you can leave those off and glue the flower's bottom directly onto the foam hemisphere.
If you want to add a sepal and stem to any of your carnations, just follow the directions in my Rolled Paper Carnation Tutorial linked above. Here's what two assembled carnations -- one with a stem and one without -- look like.
If you want to add a sepal and stem to any of your finished dahlias, 3" daisies, or gardenias, it's easy. Let me show you how!
First, decide which flowers you want to be taller in your bouquet. I gave seven of my flowers stems -- about a third of my total bouquet. It’s best to have a variety of colors and types of flowers with stems so your bouquet looks nice and balanced when complete.
Grab the first flower to which you want to attach a sepal and stem. Then find the correctly-sized sepal. The sepals for all three flower types are shaped the same, but the dahlia sepals are slightly larger than the other two.
Plug in and turn on your hot glue gun if it’s not already.
While waiting for the glue gun to preheat, use your wire cutters to cut your floral wire so you have a piece between 3” and 4” long.
Poke one end of the wire through the center of the sepal. Be careful not to tear the paper.
Use your pliers to bend the wire about 0.5” from the top at a 90-degree angle. This will keep the wire stem from slipping through the hole in the sepal.
You’ll want to put your hot glue finger caps on for the next step to prevent your fingers from getting burned.
To really secure the stem in place, add some hot glue inside the sepal around the bent wire. Press against the wire from underneath the sepal to make sure the wire is well attached.
Once the glue is set and the wire is secure, add more hot glue to cover the entire center of the sepal. Then press the bottom of the flower onto the glue and apply pressure to adhere the sepal to the flower base.
That’s it! Follow the same steps to add sepals and stems to the rest of your chosen flowers.
Once all your flowers are ready, you can prepare your leaves by folding or scoring them down the center. This step is optional, but I think it gives the leaves more dimension.
Just fold each leaf in half to form a crease along its length. You can use your scraper tool, the edge of a ruler, or even the corner of a desk to help get a straight crease.
Now we can attach all our flowers and leaves to the foam hemisphere to make our bouquet!
Plug in and turn on your hot glue gun if it’s not already, and put the hot glue finger caps on.
First, decide how you want to arrange your bouquet. It helps to lay out all of your assembled flowers on your work surface in the approximate location you want them to be in your bouquet.
You can use hot glue to attach the flowers without stems directly to the foam hemisphere. Just apply a generous amount of glue to the bottom of the flower and press it down onto the foam, holding it in place with medium pressure until the glue dries.
If you're not sure exactly where you want to place some of your flowers, you can use just a small amount of hot glue to temporarily hold the flowers in place while you get everything arranged. Once you've decided on the permanent placement of the flowers, gently pull them off one at a time and apply a generous amount of hot glue to the bottom to attach each flower permanently.
After your flowers are attached, you can add leaves between them wherever you think they look best. Just apply a small amount of hot glue to the leaf "stem" and press it down onto the foam. You might need to use tweezers or another thin object with a flat end to press the leaf stem onto the foam while the glue dries.
If you have any gaps, you can use leaves or small flowers -- like the small daisies -- to fill them in and hide the foam.
If you choose to make a bigger bouquet with some taller flowers, you can add the flowers to which you attached short wire stems earlier. Gently push the free end of each wire stem into the foam wherever you'd like your taller flowers to be.
If some of your stems are too long, just pull them back out and cut them with your wire cutters. Then push the shorter stem back into the same hole in the foam.
It's easy to rearrange the taller flowers in your bouquet if needed just by pulling the wire stem out of the foam and inserting it back into a different spot.
STEP 4: SHOW IT OFF!
You're done! Here's what my finished paper flower bouquet looks like.
I just love paper flowers, and I think this is a perfect way to display them. You can even leave the top of the vase open and put some silk or artificial flowers inside instead. Fill the vase with the favorite flower of a friend or family member and give it to them as a special handmade gift. I guarantee they’ll love it!
Finished Project Size: Approximately 7.5" wide and deep by 10" tall
Answers to Your Questions About How to Make a Paper Flower Bouquet
Q: How do you make a bouquet of paper flowers?
A: By following my tutorial! But really, watch my tutorial and it explains everything about making a paper vase filled with paper flowers using a Cricut machine .
Q: What is the best paper to use in a flower bouquet?
A: I recommend using medium-weight (65 lb) cardstock or lighter, because it makes it much easier to roll the flowers. Material that is too stiff will make rolling your flowers more difficult. And construction paper won’t hold up to the cutting, shaping, and gluing.
Q: How do you arrange a bouquet of paper flowers?
A: Your floral design is up to you! My advice is to use my bouquet as a reference, and mix up your colors, sizes, and types of flowers all over your bouquet. Then, tuck smaller flowers and leaves in to fill in the gaps and add interest. I’ll also show you how to add floral wire to some of your flowers so you can add height and dimension to your bouquet. Watch the tutorial to learn how.
Q: What are the easiest paper flowers to make?
A: Rolled paper flowers are very easy and come together quickly, and that’s why I included them in this tutorial. They’re great for when you need to make a bunch of flowers at once, like for a bouquet. There are many types of paper flowers you can make, in all sizes (even GIANT ones!) but I find rolled flowers like these to be the easiest.
Q: How do you make easy rolled paper flowers?
A: You’ll find step-by-step directions on my blog for how to make rolled paper flowers (and other types).
Q. How do you put together a bouquet of paper?
A: In this tutorial, I show you how to make paper flowers both with and without wire stems. Flowers without stems are hot-glued directly to the foam hemisphere within the paper vase, and stemmed flowers are pushed down into the foam by the wire, which you can roll in floral tape if you’d like.
Q. What are the steps in making a paper vase?
A: First you’ll cut the pieces of your cardstock vase on a cutting machine , then remove it from the mat and assemble the inner vase piece using craft glue. This inner piece is important to making a vase that can stand up to the weight of the foam, flowers, wire, and glue. After that, you’ll attach the outer, decorative part of the vase. Be sure to choose colors that match or complement one another, as the inner vase is visible through the slits in the outer vase.

For more structured flowers, opt for cardstock or thicker paper such as colorful scrapbook paper. Experiment with different textures and weights to achieve the desired look for your flowers. Don’t be afraid to mix and match to create unique and eye-catching blooms.
- A good pair of scissors is essential for cutting and shaping flower crafts. Make sure your scissors are sharp to achieve clean and precise cuts.

- If you’re working with floral wire, wire cutters will come in handy for trimming the wire to the desired length. Make sure to use wire cutters specifically designed for cutting through floral wire.
- A pencil or pen can be used as a tool for shaping the tissue paper petals. Gently wrap the tissue paper around the pencil or pen to create a curling effect.

Though they may lack the rustic charm of a set of roses, a bouquet of paper flowers gets much of the same feeling of warmth and admiration across. Paper flowers never wilt or die, and the obvious time you'll have put into making them for someone special will not go unnoticed. There are many different methods to go about making a set of paper flowers and an appropriate vase, and the occasions and results are often as varied as the people making them. All the same, there are some solid basics you should consider when it comes to making a paper flower bouquet of your own.
Creating Your Flowers
- Different coloured construction paper is arguably the most aesthetic option for paper flowers, but printer paper will suffice as well.
- Stems: For most cases, floral wire is the best. But flower stems can be made from just about anything, from strips of popsicle sticks to standup wiring to sticks of wood from the backyard.
- Glue and scissors. You'll need tools to format and fix up the materials you'll be working with.
- Markers and pencil crayons, for decorating the flowers and vase once they've been done up.
- One helpful trick is to pull a corner of a sheet of printer paper over to the other diagonal side of the paper as far as it can comfortably go. Cut whatever strip of paper that is not covered by the diagonal fold, and you'll have a square sheet of paper.
- If the paper you're using has different colours or a pattern on only one side of the sheet, place the side you want to use facing down; this will be the side people see the most of in the finished product.
- At this point, you should have two kite shapes, one on either side of your diamond background. The tops of the kits should be sticking out from the diamond.
- You can start working on your next petal while you're waiting for the current petal to dry.
- Hot glue is preferable to regular stick glue, as it will give you more precision. [6] X Research source
Making the Vase
- Unlike the admittedly time-consuming flower petals, you'll ideally only need to make one vase before your bouquet is ready. With that in mind, it's important to try to make the vase as slick and polished as it can be. Giving yourself the extra time to make sure you're doing it right will be far less stressful than realizing you've made an error later down the road.
- With this step completed, you should have the look of two paper kite shapes on either side of your vase framework. These will ultimately become the corners of the three-dimensional result.
- There are lots of videos available online detailing how to go about a proper squash fold. If you're not experienced in origami, you should watch a few of these to get a better hang of them.
Decorating the Bouquet
- Consider the circumstance you'll be presenting this bouquet as well. A Halloween decoration may veer towards spooky oranges and blacks, while a Valentine's gift might conventionally lean on conventional reds, whites and pinks. [13] X Research source
- It's another possibility to do without construction paper wrappings at all, as some people find aesthetic value in the intricate folds of origami. One way or another, the amount of decoration is entirely up to you, and there may be cases where no added decor is even necessary.
- It'll feel more special if you make an effort to associate the decoration with the occasion the flowers are being presented. If they're for a wedding for example, a drawing of the bride and groom, a ring, or even a multi-tiered wedding cake could be the thing the vase needs to be truly unique and leave a real impression.

- Once you get the hang of it, you should try experimenting with different aspects. If there's a certain amount of petals you would like to fit into a flower, go for it. Also don't be afraid to mix and match different types of stems together. You're not trying to make these flowers look realistic; you're trying to make them look good! The details of how you go about it are all up to you. Thanks Helpful 1 Not Helpful 0
- There are countless paper flower designs out there. You can choose another design other than the one listed here if you so desire, or even invent a fresh pattern of your own! Thanks Helpful 0 Not Helpful 0
- Especially when it comes to the use of glue and the petal folding, being cautious and taking your time will save a lot of hassle for future steps. Thanks Helpful 3 Not Helpful 2

About This Article
To make a paper flower bouquet, start by creasing a small square of paper diagonally and folding the corners up so the edges align with the crease. Next, fold back those edges in half and glue the resulting flaps together to make a cone shape. Make 4 to 5 of these shapes to create your petals, then glue them together onto a stem, with the glued flaps in the center. As you wait for the glue to dry, repeat these steps until you have as many flowers as you want in your bouquet. To learn how to make a paper vase for your flower bouquet, read on! Easy Tissue Paper Flowers
Bring color indoors for any occasion with these easy tissue paper flowers for kids and adults. Here's how to make them!
Who else is ready for spring? While we still have a couple months to go until the real thing, I'm ready to bring all things spring indoors for some color and cheer. Let's bring on the sun, the flowers, and bright colors and forget the dark and dreary outside.
If you're feeling spring in your step as well, you'll love our next project that we're sharing on Two Kids and a Coupon These easy paper flowers are the perfect quick project for both kids and grown ups alike.
They are perfect for adding some color indoors, giving as a gift, celebrating a special occasion or making just because. With just a couple of supplies you can make this kid-friendly craft in about 5 minutes. Here's how to make them with your family.
For this project you will need 5 sheets of colored tissue paper and a couple of green pipe cleaners . If you don't have these at home in your craft bucket , you can find them at the dollar store or in the craft aisle at major retailers.
You'll also need a ruler and scissors . The tissue paper used her is 20” by 20” and will make two 10” flowers. However, different sizes of paper work as well, just cut them accordingly.
After you gather all the supplies, carefully layer five sheets of tissue paper together in one stack. Using a fan style fold, fold it, back and forth, in approximately 1” widths. Use the ruler to measure the first fold.
Once the entire length of the tissue paper has been fan folded, measure the middle, and cut the strip in half.
For the next step on your tissue paper flowers, you can leave the two strips as is, or you can cut the ends into a rounded half circle. This will create more texture for the flowers.
Tightly twist a green pipe cleaner around the center of the fan folded tissue paper.
Extend the layers by pulling them out, creating a fan shape with the folded tissue paper.
Gently separate each layer of tissue paper, starting with the top layer.
Don’t worry about a few tears here and there, as they can be hidden within the layers. Repeat with second side.
Fluff the layers of separated tissue paper to shape the flower. Place them in a jar, vase or use the pipe cleaners to hang them around the house to decorate. They can also be turned into festive garland when you tie them together using the pipe cleaners or string.
These easy paper flowers are the perfect decoration for any special occasion, event, or party. Layer different colors together for a festive touch and make multi-colored flowers for even more fun.
