Do you want to know the cost of starting a nylon production company (cutting & sealing machine)? If YES, here’s a sample nylon production business plan template Do you know that you can become a millionaire just by producing and selling nylon and polythene bags? This is a very good business opportunity to exploit right now, especially if you have been looking to start your own business.

The demand for nylon is very extensive and occurs on a daily basis worldwide. In fact, nylon production has significant economic importance in most countries, owning to the variety of uses to which nylon products are put. While individuals use nylon bags for a wide range of domestic purposes such as shopping, bagging, and covering, manufacturing businesses require nylon in large quantities for wrapping and packaging their products.

The thinnest forms of nylon bags, I mean those transparent films are used in packaging edible products such as bread and other non-edible products purchased from the market. Thicker forms are used in packaging biscuits and other snacks. The fairly large ones are used by laundry operators to package their clients’ clothes.

The very large forms are used for making tents and covering cars and other machinery ( Tarpaulins ) to protect them from rainfall and other harsh weather conditions. And the thickest forms are used in producing fancy shopping bags and school bags, and for other uses.

The above statements drive home the fact that you can make huge profits from nylon production. If what you are reading right now seems to be increasing your interest in this business, then read on. In this article, you will learn all you need to know to start your nylon production business.

Starting a Nylon Production Company – Sample Business Plan Template

To successfully start a nylon production company, you need the following:

  • Adequate knowledge about the business
  • Technical knowledge on how to product the nylon
  • A practical business plan
  • A good location that is close to your target customers
  • The production machines
  • Employees ( unless you want to run a one-man business )

Challenges of starting a nylon production company

Aside the common challenges such as finding customers, raising capital, getting a good location, etc that entrepreneurs face in business; there are two distinct challenges you are likely to face as a nylon producer, especially when you are doing business in a developing country like Nigeria . They are:

  • Poor power supply – Epileptic power supply is one of the challenges most small scale manufacturers face in Nigeria. This will invariably increase your recurring expenditure as you would have to run your business on generator if you want to survive.
  • From my interaction with people who are into the nylon production business, I came to understand that sourcing for the machinery can be quite a problem; especially when you are looking at expanding the business. The machine you need to produce nylon can be fabricated locally but if you are moving into large scale production, you may need to import your machinery.

The problems listed above are some of the basic challenges you will face in this business.

What are the raw materials and where are they obtained from?

The raw materials for nylon production are bye products of petrochemical processing that are obtained from refineries. These main raw materials are polythene and polyethylene . Other basic petrochemical products from which nylon is made include Escorene, Lupene, Dow, B.A.S.F ., and so on.

These materials are abundant in petroleum-rich countries with many functioning refineries. But manufacturers in other countries import the materials from Indonesia, Korea Republic, and China.

Which machinery is required for nylon production?

Here, I am assuming that you want to start a small nylon production plant, which does not require huge capital to start. So, all you need is the semi-automatic nylon-cutting machine with punching blades.

There is a separate designer component, which contains a decorating printer that prints your desired designs on shopping bags. You may not have to acquire this component, as you can sub-contract the design and printing aspect. If you are looking at small nylon bags that bear no designs, then you won’t need this component at all.

If you have small capital, you can start with the locally fabricated, semi-automatic machinery mentioned above. But if you can afford the cost, it is best to acquire a fully-automatic machine, which is much more efficient.

How are nylon bags made?

Polythene bags are made by heating and cutting rolls of film. Rolls of sheeting or tubing are fed through a machine. The machine then draws out the rolls into segments of specified length, cycles to place a seal on each segment, and cuts off each segment to make an individual bag.

The rate of production of nylon bags depend on the size and thickness of each bag produced. Small and thin bags are produced at rates as high as 70,000 bags per hour, while large and thick bags are produced at rates that could be as slow as 2,000 bags per hour.

Cheaper and smaller manually-operated machines and semi-automatic machines are usually powered by a 220-volt electric motor, but the automatic types are powered by greater components.

In the automatic machine, cutting and sealing take place in quick succession once the machine is switched on. Being automatic, the device gyrates on its own and automatically goes off upon completion of production or upon exhaustion of the roll of polythene fed into it. However, punching is done semi-manually by the puncher.

Depending on the desired styling of the bag, the upper end of the bag is punched to form a fanciful handle. This is done after the basic cutting and sealing operations. The bags are packed in hundreds and punched at a time. After punching, the final products are then packed into bigger sheets and sold in wholesale prices.

Do you really have chances of succeeding in this business ?

The answer is an emphatic “ Yes. ” Although there may be many players in your country’s nylon production industry, supply is yet far from being saturated in most countries due to the constantly huge demands. So, there is a ready market for the products everywhere at any time.

How To Start Nylon Production Business

Interested in small nylon production business planning tips? If YES, here is a practical guide on the nylon production business.

HOW TO START NYLON PRODUCTION AND CUTTING BUSINESS

Starting a polythene nylon bag manufacturing business is one of the most viable businesses and entrepreneurs can engage in.

It is very much easy to start up and highly lucrative just for the fact that the demand for nylon and nylon materials is ever increasing with the increase in population and hence the need for packaging of more items.

And not only that, more industries are spanning up every day and with the new strategy of standard packaging of items to make them stand out among competitors, there has been a very sharp increase in the making of nylon 66 and demand for nylon materials such as whip, bracelet, and flowers.

Nylons are utilized all over the country for different purposes. They are needed both domestically in the home as well as industrially.

TYPES OF NYLON PRODUCTS

1. Low-Density Nylon 2. High-Density Nylon

These two different types of nylon vary depending on their utilization and applications.

The low-density nylon is utilized in small-scale packagings such as food and car wrapping adverts, clothing packaging, and water sealing.

The high-density nylons are the ones utilized industrially and commercially, they are stronger and more durable than the low-density nylons.

SUCCESS POTENTIAL OF NYLON PRODUCTION AND SELLING BUSINESS

A lot of small business people are involved in the manual cutting and sealing of nylons. Therefore the vast potential in the major production of the item as demands seem to be springing up daily.

CAPITAL REQUIREMENT OF NYLON PRODUCTION TECHNOLOGY

The capital requirement for the nylon production business varies depending on the financial capability of the investor. An investor could either decide to go on a big scale or a medium scale. The nylon cutting and sealing machines required for the production are also of different sizes and with different production capacities, so the availability of funds at the disposal of the investor will determine the scale of the business.

Locally fabricated nylon-making machines could as well be used for the production process. This definitely will cut the process and cost of natural nylon 6 production; though will have a smaller production capacity as compared to a fully automated nylon producing machine, which will set the investor back a huge amount of money.

MACHINES REQUIRED FOR NYLON PRODUCTION PROCESS

1. EXTRUDER BLOWING MACHINE: This is the nylon making machine that converts the raw materials that are needed for the production of nylon into a liquid state and then to polyethylene sheets, which can be molded into any desired color or thickness.

2. NYLON CUTTING MACHINE: This machine is utilized in cutting the polyethylene into different required sizes

3. PUNCHING MACHINE: This is the machine that is used to create holes, handles, and other shapes as determined by the design of the manufacturer.

PROCESS OF NYLON PRODUCTION

The major raw materials needed in the production of nylon bags are petroleum products and Master-Berg, which is the coloring material that is included in the polyethylene to give it its various colors.

In the process of producing the polyethylene sheet, the raw material, which could be BASF Escorene or DOW is poured into the heating and melting unit of the extruder machine, which is then heated, melted, and then transformed into a liquid substance, and then blown under pressure through a medium.

This is thereafter cooled through an air generating apparatus, which in the process produces polyethylene sheets, which are directed by a series of rollers and then converted into bales in the output of the extruder.

The sheets are thereafter taken to the cutting and sealing machine.

PRODUCTION PLAN

The location of a nylon production plant could be sited anywhere as long as it meets the regulations of the governing agencies. And also another factor that should be put into consideration is the nearness to raw materials and also the closeness to the market.

Adequate space to accommodate the sizes of the nylon sealing and recycling machines should be well provided and also there should be a constant source of power as most of the machines involved in the production are electrically powered.

CAPITAL EXPENSES

1. COST OF LAND: This could vary depending on the location 2. EXTRUDER/BLOWER • Foreign (Dual HD/LD Extruder Blower) N4m-N5m • Local (HD or LD) N1m-5m 3. CUTTING AND SEALING MACHINE • Double checker machine (Foreign) N2.5m-N3.2m • Local Machines N0.7m-N1.2m 4. PUNCHING MACHINE • Foreign (Hydraulic) N0.7-N1.2m • Local N0.4-N0.7m 5. 6. Machinery & Raw Materials

In initiating a small-scale nylon production unit, you can go for a semi-automatic process. The main required machinery is an extruder, blower, cutting machine, punching machine, and sealing machine. According to your specific requirement with the desired production output, you can start manufacturing with locally fabricated machines. As your business grows, you can convert your manufacturing operation to a fully automatic mode.

Major raw materials for nylon production are bye by-products of petrochemical processing that are obtained from refineries. These main raw materials are polythene and polyethene. Other basic petrochemical products from which nylon is made include Escorene, Lupine, Dow, B.A.S.F., etc.

7. Nylon Production Process

There are two common methods of making nylon for fibre applications. One method is, that molecules with an acid (COOH) group on each end are reacted with molecules containing amine (NH2) groups on each end. The resulting nylon is named based on the number of carbon atoms separating the two acid groups and the two amines.

Thus nylon 6,6 which is widely used for fibers is made from adipic acid and hexamethylenediamine. The two compounds form a salt, known as nylon salt, with an exact 1:1 ratio of acid to base. This salt is then dried and heated under a vacuum to eliminate water and form the polymer.

In another method, a compound containing an amine at one end and an acid at the other is polymerized to form a chain with repeating units of (-NH-[CH2]n-CO-)x. If n=5, the nylon is referred to as nylon 6, another common form of this polymer. The commercial production of nylon 6 begins with caprolactam and uses a ring-opening polymerization.

In both cases, the polyamide is melt-spun and drawn after cooling to give the desired properties for each intended use. Industrial nylon production and carpet fibres begin with an aqueous solution of monomers and proceed continuously through polymerization, spinning, drawing, or drawing-texturing.

Like any manufacturing initiative, the nylon production business also demands a core emphasis on design, integration, and improvement of the manufacturing system and process.

The demand for polythene (nylon) bags has been identified to continue to expand as the standard of living of the over 180 million population growing at the rate of 5.7% per annum continues to grow. The supply gap situation in Nigeria has created a market gap estimated at N 2.7 Billion annually in revenue.

Production of polythene (nylon) bags involves three {3} basic procedure which includes extruding, cutting and printing. Due to lack of funds, most entrepreneur do extrusion only.

Basically, there are two types of nylon namely the low and high-density nylons. The low-density nylon is the nylon used for wrapping bread. It is also used by dry cleaners and in pure water production. Generally, low density nylon because of their thickness does not make noise when squeezed. It varies in thickness depending on the purpose for which it is being used and what the customer wants.

High density nylon has more market share than low density nylon because they can carry heavier goods. Black nylons, white and black, yellow and black all fall within these categories. Generally, because of their weight, they make noise when squeezed. While individuals use nylon bags for a wide range of domestic purposes such as shopping, bagging, and covering, manufacturing businesses require nylon in large quantities for wrapping and packaging their products.

Opportunities/Competition of Nylon Production Business

What is that thing that they put our purchased goods inside, at malls, local markets, stores and even that provision shop down the road; Nylon.

Even the famous pure water, is packaged with nylon. The competition in the Nylon business is much, however, the demand always seems to outgrow supply, so don’t worry about not selling your products, in good time you might even be choosing your customers.

How to Start a Nylon Business

Now its time to give you the necessary tips on how to start a profitable and successful Nylon business. Firstly,  you will need the equipments listed below. I am assuming you want to start a small nylon business instead of a massive nylon plant.

1. Get the Raw materials

Most of the required raw materials can be gotten from refineries, since they are by products of petrochemical processing. Examples of this raw materials include Polythene, Polyethylene, Ecorene, Lupene and so on.

2. Get the Machines needed

Since I assume you want to start a small business for the mean time, here is a list of the machineries you will need for a small start up.

Semi-Automatic Nylon Cutting Machine

Punching blades.

There is printing component that will enable you print designs on this bags. You can buy this component or ignore it, you can sub-contract printing of designs to another company and pay them, printing in Balogun market Lagos early this year, went for 100 naira per print.

If you plan on making small nylon bags without designs, then you don’t need this component at all. However, if you can afford the cost of buying a fully automatic machine, I will advice you get that one since its more effective and faster.

3. Acquire Capital

You will need some capital to set this business up. the required capital can differ depending on how large you want the business to be, However, for starters you will need 20 to 40,000 naira to set it up properly.

Ways you can raise the required capital include;

Personal savings

Family&friends e.t.c

4. Get Shop Space

This is the location where the nylon making will be going on. It doesn’t have to be the size of a football field, a nice spacious work space will do fine for the mean time.

The machines maybe a bit large so emphasize to your real estate agent about space, you don’t want a cramped up working environment.

It is always a bonus to get a physical shop near or inside a local market, this means you are closer to your customers and, transportation is easier.

5. Do Some Research/Develop a Business Plan

Do not be a victim of ignorance and lack of proper knowledge or maintenance. Do your research on how to make this product, it is far from enough to purchase the machines stated above, you must learn how to use them or face the risk of having spoilt machines all over the place. Furthermore, develop a business plan on which you can manage your business.

Experts have discovered that the reason why 60% of businesses fail in Nigeria, is because the lack a proper business plan. Some people delve into businesses without even been able to differentiate capital from profit.

Develop a business plan and follow it with a all commitment, set a goal and objective and do not stop till you attain it.

6. Start Making Nylons

Polythene bags are made by heating and cutting rolls of film. Rolls of sheeting or tubing are fed through the machine.

The Device then draws out the rolls into segments of specified length, cycles to place a seal on each segment, and cuts off each segment to make an individual bag.

This process might seen rudimentary in nature, but trust me, it becomes a part of you in no time, like putting on your cloths in the morning.

7. Sell Your Products

Now that you have finished Nylons for sale, its time to sell your products. You can sell your Nylon as a wholesaler to this pure water companies or even shopping malls.

However, this stores may require that you, print certain brand designs on the polythene  bags and they prefer to buy in bundles. Once you get four of this kind of customers, you can be raking in 100,000 naira every month for the first six months.

8. Employ Extra Hands

When the business must have matured enough and your customer demands are so much that it starts to weigh down on you.

It is time to employ some extra hands, you can do this putting a wanted sign outside your shop, it works every time. Take care to make sure you employ hard working and competent workers.

You do not want to employ workers who slack and make silly mistakes and will therefore cost you customers and money.

9. Make Your Business Known

Since you are now your own boss, you can create business cards for your self and some flyers for distribution, to let people know about your business and its location.

Challenges Of Nylon Production Business

Apart from the normal challenges entrepreneurs face in the business world, like raising capital, getting a good location, finding the right employees and so on.

Small scale business owners face other kind of challenges. Some challenges in the Nylon manufacturing business include;

1. Power Supply

Epileptic power supply is one of the major challenges small scale business owners face in Nigeria. Power is needed to run the machines and when there is no power, business owners have to purchase fuel to power their generators.

Read Also: How To Produce Hair Conditioner In Nigeria

2. Finding Machine

Although, machines for small scale nylon manufacturing can be fabricated locally, it is quite difficult to find a machine when trying to expand your business.

The problems listed above are some of the hurdles you might come across when starting the business. However, with hard work, patience and commitment, they will be nothing compared to the profits you will be making.

Although, there may be many players in your country’s nylon production industry, supply is yet far from being saturated in most countries due to the constantly huge demands. So, there is a ready market for the products everywhere at any time.

All forms of nylons have their uses and find their way into the everyday life of everyone, from the less dense forms of nylons used in packaging the local Agege bread to the thicker ones used in the packaging of biscuits and everything in between, foraying into this venture is really not a bad idea, you can make huge profits from nylon production. To successfully start a nylon production company, you need the following:

  • Knowledge about the business
  • Knowledge of how the nylon is being manufactured
  • A business plan
  • A location for carrying out production processes and at the same time close to your target customers
  • The equipment for production
  • Staff and labor (unless you want to run a one-man business)

Challenges of starting a nylon production company

The challenges of running this business in Nigeria are narrowed to;

Poor power supply; The power supply is bad, and this is a challenge for most manufacturers that operate on a not so large scale. This increases the cost of running this business as you would have to rely on generator sets for power supply which will in turn cost you money for fueling them.

Acquiring machinery ; Sourcing for the machinery is also a hurdle, especially if the need for expansion sets in, locally fabricated machinery will no longer cut it on a large scale.

What are the raw materials for Nylon Production and where are they obtained from?

Petrochemical by-products are the main raw materials used to produce nylon, the main ones being polythene and polyethylene, other raw materials may be added depending on the form of nylon to be produced, these raw materials are abundant in countries that have and refine petroleum.

Which machinery is required for nylon production?

This depends on the scale of the business, a small scale nylon production business will need the semi-automatic nylon-cutting machine with punching blades, usually powered by a 220-volt electric motor, and a designer component if there is a need for certain designs, but this is not integral in the production process.

A large scale will require a fully-automated machine, which is much more efficient because cutting and sealing take place in quick succession thus saving time

The rate of production of nylon bags depends on the size and thickness of each bag produced.

The chances of succeeding in this business are very high as the market is far from congested, there is a ready market for the products everywhere at any time.

How to Start Nylon Production Business in Nigeria

The nylon production business is an exceptionally lucrative venture that holds promising prospects for entrepreneurs in Nigeria. The demand for nylon products remains consistently high due to their versatile applications, including packaging, shopping, and bagging. If you considering starting this business, read this article to the end as we provide a step-by-step guide on how to start a nylon production business in Nigeria.

How to Start Nylon Production Business in Nigeria

How to start nylon production business in Nigeria:

Gain Experience in Nylon Production

It is highly advisable to acquire a comprehensive understanding of the nylon production business. Consider working in a nylon production facility for a period to gain valuable hands-on experience.

Alternatively, attending seminars and trade workshops can also contribute to your knowledge and skill development. Seeking advice from experienced individuals, particularly those outside your immediate area to avoid potential competition, can provide valuable insights and help you make informed decisions.

Getting relevant experience before starting a nylon production business will enhance your credibility as a business owner, equip you with problem-solving skills, as well as help you gain insights into customer preferences, needs, and expectations.

In addition, engaging in this learning process will help you avoid common mistakes and pitfalls, and build valuable networks and connections with industry experts, suppliers, customers, and potential partners.

Conduct Market Research

Conduct a comprehensive market survey to identify your target market before entering the nylon production business. This survey should be conducted within the area where you plan to establish your production facility.

Potential target markets in Nigeria typically include pharmacies, water production companies, eateries, restaurants, traders, hospitals, bakeries, supermarkets, laundries, fashion stores, and schools.

Secure Adequate Capital

The capital required for your nylon production business hinges on its scale and scope. You must determine how to cover your startup expenses. If personal funds are insufficient, exploring loans as a source of capital may be necessary.

Key expenses to cover include land acquisition or lease, equipment, labor, electricity, generators, and other operational costs. Machine procurement, whether imported or locally sourced, may cost approximately N16 million or N8 million, respectively. Budgeting between N10 million and N30 million is recommended, although the exact figure depends on the location and operational scale.

Secure Suitable Land

Procure a suitable piece of land to accommodate your nylon production facility. Ideally, the location should be near your sources of raw materials and target markets to minimize transportation costs. The site must be spacious enough to house all the necessary machines for nylon production.

Get Your Business Registered

Registration of your nylon production business is the next step of the process. In Nigeria, business registration is crucial as it makes your business legitimate and credible, make it easier to access bank loans and grant, and protect your personal assets from any potential legal issues or debts that may arise from the business.

The Corporate Affairs Commission (CAC) is the government agency in Nigeria to register your business.

Below is the registration process for business with CAC:

  • Check for the availability of the business name by visiting https://services.cac.gov.ng/
  • Complete the pre-registration form – CAC-BNo1 and upload the relevant registration document online using Company Registration Portal
  • Pay filing fees.

Get Necessary Machinery

Acquiring the necessary machinery is the next stage of the process. Depending on your budget you may choose to buy the machines from abroad or source them locally. The equipment you need to get for your nylon production business includes the extruder blowing machine, nylon cutting machine, punching machine, and printing machine.

Note that the choice between foreign and local machinery depends on your budget, production capacity, and quality standards.

In addition, you may consider investing in getting a delivery truck for efficient transportation to the market.

Employ a Competent Workforce

Building a capable workforce is essential for the entire nylon production process. Engage skilled engineers for machine installation, as well as machine operators, truck drivers, product managers, sales executives, and other relevant positions. Prioritizing experienced professionals can greatly benefit your nylon production business.

Get Raw Materials

The foundation of nylon manufacturing rests upon essential raw materials derived from petrochemicals, which originate from either crude oil or natural gas. These petrochemicals undergo processing to create key intermediates like adipic acid, which is indispensable in the production of nylon 6,6.

Hexamethylene Diamine (HMDA) is another critical component necessary for nylon 6, and cyclohexane plays a pivotal role in the polymerization process.

These vital raw materials can be sourced from prominent suppliers, distributors, and even the manufacturers producing them.

Begin Nylon Production

With the raw materials, necessary equipment and a competent workforce all sorted out, the next thing to do is to begin nylon production. If you had acquired experience at the beginning of this journey, the nylon production stage would not be so difficult. Moreover, a competent workforce as part of your team makes this stage a lot easier.

The nylon production process usually commences with the introduction of raw materials into the heating and melting unit of the extruder machine. Subsequently, these materials transform into a liquid state and are then pressurized and blown through a medium. After this, the material is cooled, resulting in the creation of polythene sheets, which are subsequently fashioned into bales, ready for cutting and sealing.

Get Customers for Your Nylon Production Business

To grow your nylon production business, focus on targeting industries and businesses that need to use nylons for their operations. Your potential customers include pharmacies, water production companies, eateries, restaurants, traders, hospitals, bakeries, supermarkets, laundries, fashion stores, and schools .

Also, consider creating a professional website to reach a wider audience. Utilize SEO best practices, social media and sharing quality content around the nylon industry to grow your customer base.

Furthermore, invest in advertising and network within relevant industry associations. Patience and persistence are essential as you build strong customer relationships and deliver consistent value over time to foster business growth.

How to start nylon business in Nigeria? Business plan

Jakub Borowiec

Nylon (polythene) materials have become essential in most Nigerian businesses as they are mainly used for packaging goods for both domestic and industrial use. The high demand for nylon materials, especially nylon bags, in a short time, produces a lot of profit for nylon business owners. This, therefore, makes the nylon production business in Nigeria a very lucrative one. The nylon business in Nigeria requires no stress to start thereby making a lot of young entrepreneurs that are innovative gain interest in the business.

Nylon products are used daily all over the world. In Nigeria nylon is used to make bags and wraps to package food and non-edible goods like clothes, books, devices and the list goes on. Nylon products come in two major forms, thin (low density) and thick (high density) nylon forms. Thin nylon forms can be torn easily and are mostly used in local markets to package goods for customers. Thin forms are usually cheaper than thick nylon forms. Thick nylon forms are used for goods that require firmer packaging for protection. An example is edible goods that require to be shipped or transported from place to place.

Nylon bags, a major product of nylon, are made in a variety of sizes and colours for different purposes based on the needs of the business. For instance, a waste collection company would most likely require large nylon bags that are black in colour and a crawfish seller at a local market would probably require small nylon bags that are transparent.

Some disadvantages of nylon that one should know before starting a nylon business are:

  • Nylon is resistant to fire which makes it melt. Exposure to high temperatures would cause the nylon to melt.
  • Nylon is not a breathable material, therefore, making it harmful to living things like humans and animals.
  • Nylon is not biodegradable and can not be disposed of easily. The nylon waste products require recycling.

Nylon Wholesale Business in Nigeria

Starting a nylon wholesale business in Nigeria is quite easy. With a strategic business plan and adequate finances in place, your nylon wholesale business in Nigeria can begin.

Some things to know before beginning your nylon production business are the kind of raw materials needed, the cost of raw materials, the type and cost of machines required for production, the process required for your nylon products to be made, the human resources required, maintenance costs, your competitive environment, pricing of your nylon products and how to market your goods.

The startup cost for a nylon wholesale business in Nigeria has become quite high due to the rapidly increasing exchange, however, the nylon production business can yield more than 50% in returns for investment once started.

One can choose to sell one particular type of nylon product or a variety of them based on size, thickness, purpose and colour.

The challenges faced by most nylon production companies is another thing entrepreneurs should be aware of before diving into the nylon wholesale business in Nigeria. A major challenge faced by nylon production companies in Nigeria is that of a low supply of electrical power. This issue leads to inconsistency and the slowing down of production. A solution to this is nylon business owners acquiring a means of power supply such as a generator that is suitable enough to power all the machines used in the nylon production process. In as much as this is a solution, it has the disadvantage of increasing the nylon production cost which leads to a decrease in profit.

Another challenge is that nylon and plastic products, in general, are a hazard to the environment. Some consumers, after making use of their bought goods, do not properly dispose of the nylon bags. A lot of plastic waste is found in drainages, lakes and rivers, roadsides and so on. This is harmful and unpleasant to the environment. Some innovative nylon business owners resolved this issue by sorting out plastic waste and recycling them into nylon bags and other plastic products. This reduces the amount of plastic waste in the environment.

There is also the issue of machines being hard to find especially when going large scale in nylon production. Most nylon business owners resort to locally made machines.

How to Start a Nylon Wholesale Business in Nigeria

A few steps to starting a nylon wholesale business in Nigeria are:

  • Choose a nice – Decide on the kind of nylon products you would like to produce.
  • Do some research – Learn about the kind of products you would be making, observe your competitors and find out the total capital you would require for your business based on your choice of having either a large or small scale business.
  • Create a business plan – This is simply a strategic plan of your business objectives, goals, operations and summary of finances. This guarantees your business runs smoothly.
  • Gather capital – Adequate funds required to buy machines, raw materials and all other costs should then be put together to start up the nylon production business.
  • Business registration – In Nigeria, registering your business is an essential step. This process gives you an insight into rules, guidelines and restrictions with regards to the running of your business.

The machines required for a nylon production business are the extruder, cutting machine, blowing machine, printing machine, mixer and recycling machine.

The raw materials required are low-density polyethylene (LDPE), high-density polyethylene (HDPE) chips and colour pigments.

The main procedures involved in nylon bag making are:

  • Extruding – A machine called an extender is used to heat up and melt the polyethylene plastic pellets at a high temperature of 260°C or 500°F. After melting, colour pigments are added and the plastic is then rolled out flat with a die measuring out the desired thickness.
  • Printing – The printing machine cuts out the rolled out plastic into different sizes or designs and it is then given the desired texture.
  • Bag Making – This final procedure involves giving the nylon bags the appropriate finishing based on the function of the bags. Nylon business owners choose from the options of giving the bags zip locking, handles, holes, vents and so on.

In just a few minutes, thousands of nylon bags can be made. The finished nylon products are then packaged and sent out to be distributed to wholesalers and retailers.

Small Scale Nylon Production in Nigeria

Starting up nylon production in Nigeria on a small scale could cost as low as N200,000. The amount could be less or more. This startup cost should be able to provide a locally made nylon cutting machine, raw materials ( LDPE and HDPE chips with pigments) and any extra costs.

Nylon products, especially nylon bags, sell on the market for thousands of naira. For instance, a medium-sized set of nylon bags could sell for about N3,000 for a hundred pieces. This price of course depends on the thickness, texture and design of the nylon bags.

On a small scale, a nylon production business owner can make profits of thousands of naira on a daily basis. In a year, one can be making a total profit of about a million to two million naira for a small scale nylon production business in Nigeria.

Locally Made Nylon Cutting Machine in Nigeria

Entrepreneurs with interest in nylon production in Nigeria usually make use of locally made nylon cutting machines as they are easier to find, efficient and save on cost.

Locally made nylon cutting machines are made from iron that is light in weight, therefore, making the machine easy to move around. The cutting machine includes features capable of bottom and side sealing as well as bag punching. The machine consists of four parts which are:

  • Sealing machine
  • Cutting machine
  • Punching machine

The locally-made machine is used to make different types of nylon bags for different commercial purposes whether to package edible goods or non-edible products.

The locally-made machines are easy to use and do not require a large supply of power as a small generator can do the job of supplying electrical power to the machines without any fault or damage.

Nylon Bag Making Machine Price in Nigeria

The price of nylon bag making machines in Nigeria can be from as little as N20,000 to hundreds of thousands for a small scale nylon production business. For medium to large scale nylon production businesses in Nigeria, nylon bag making machines cost around a few million to tens of millions of naira.

Nylon Production Companies in Lagos

In the last decade, the number of nylon production companies in Lagos has increased. There are now dozens of these companies in Lagos contributing a lot to the economy of the state.

These nylon production companies, on a larger scale, produce not just nylon products but other products of plastic. They produce a variety of plastic products and distribute them within and outside the country.

Thousands of job opportunities have been created by these companies in the last couple of years.

The most popular of these companies are Veepee Industries, Kannie Plastic Limited and Poly Products Nigeria Plc. The oldest of them, Poly Products Nigeria Plc, was founded in 1965 and currently runs with a staff of about 2,400 people.

A professional essay writing service is an instrument for a student who’s pressed for time or who doesn’t speak English as a first language. However, in 2022 native English-speaking students in the U.S. become to use essay help more and more. Why is that so? Mainly, because academic assignments are too boring and time-consuming. Also, because having an essay writer on your team who’s ready to come to homework rescue saves a great deal of trouble. is one of the best new websites where you get help with your essays from dedicated academic writers for a reasonable price.
