- Goofs When there is a fight at the Blue Oyster Bar and Hooks go to find the address, Proctor says the address is 621 Cowan Avenue. When Mahoney and Hightower get there, the number on the door says 655.
Lt. Mauser : [Mauser and Proctor are spying on Lassard greeting the new recruits in his office] So... these academy rats are going to save the precinct?
Proctor : Hey, personally, lieutenant, I hope they fall flat on their asses.
Lt. Mauser : That can be arranged, you know?
Proctor : What do you mean?
Lt. Mauser : Well, if they fail, I take over as commander of the precinct.
Lt. Mauser : So?
Lt. Mauser : So... we make sure they fail.
Proctor : Who?
Lt. Mauser : The new recruits.
Proctor : Why?
Lt. Mauser : If they fail, Lassard's out, I'm in. And I'm gonna need somebody to be the new watch commander. And you know who that's gonna be.
Proctor : [confused] Who?
Lt. Mauser : [annoyed] You, dickhead, you!
Proctor : Oh... oh... well, good idea.
Lt. Mauser : You're not playing with a full deck, are you?
Proctor : Oh, I don't play cards.

An honorable sequel.
This film is a sequel that came out the year after the release of its predecessor, making the best use of the box office success achieved. Although many may not even agree with me, I believe it managed to reasonably match the initial film, and helped to consolidate the nascent franchise and give it popularity, which TV later took advantage of.
The script continues the story told in the first film, with the newly graduated police officers taking on their first and thorny mission: to reinforce the weakened and demoralized contingent of a police station in a troubled... read the rest.

"Don't move dirtbag!" - Hooks,
Hey everyone! I'm watching all of these... you're excited... no, really you are, there are only 7 of them.
The new officers get sent to the 16th precinct, the worst in the city, and hilarity ensues as the they take on a dangerous and wacky gang led by comedy icon Bobcat Goldthwait. I think I like the vibe of this sequel more than I enjoy the original because the PG-13 rating steers them toward more goofy slapstick that I enjoy... it feels like the right tone for the franchise but it's still just kind of okay for me. I did enjoy the final act quite a bit.

Pretty funny. Not as good as the first one.

Review by Ian Curran ★★★
Comedy sequels are like third nipples; they’re completely pointless but occasionally fun.
Bobcat Goldthwait is a third nipple.

Review by Lipe 🎧 ★★★
Basically, what they tried to do here was to repeat what had worked in the first one (as most sequels do). The dynamic is almost the same, as for example someone trying to sabotage Mahoney and his colleagues' work. Some jokes were also recycled, like the one about the gay bar and the policeman who makes sound effects with his mouth. But it's not a throwaway movie either, its existence is justified, because it shows the team's first mission (since the other was just the training). The humor isn't as problematic as in the first one, but unfortunately, it's not as funny... I found it too contained (in the sense of the amount of jokes). It's an okay movie, it manages to entertain and gets a few laughs.

Review by Lebowskidoo 🇨🇦 🎬 🍿 ★★★★ 2
The sequel introduces some new characters successfully, but the laughs are not as strong as the first movie. A few too many of the original characters are missing. Bobcat Goldthwait as Zed is the highlight, and he goes on to appear in the sequels. Still, as far as sequels go, this is still pretty strong. Obviously filmed in Los Angeles and not Toronto this time, which is fine, since the actual city is never named anyway.

Review by 🎞️📼Spencer💿📺 ★★
The concept, while simple. Show the cadets on their first assignment. Somehow doesn't translate well as a final product.
Major shout out to Bob Goldthwait, That man is funny!
Art Metrano looks like a poor man's William Shatner.
Across the board not good. Over and out.

Review by Stephen Robert Smith ★★
I enjoyed my recent re-watch of 'Police Academy' so much, I decided to jump straight into the first sequel. Just a quick Google search will show you how low this entry in the franchise is rated and isn't held in the greatest of regards, so of course my expectations were low to say the least. Personally I didn't hate it as much as others seem to, but its certainly a step down from the original which certainly missed the mark a little.
'Their First Assignment' does a great job recreating the same feel as the first, having the majority of the same cast returning definitely helps this, minus of course Kim Cattrall who went on to bigger and for this…

Review by Geoffrey Broomer ★★★½
The first Police Academy not only set the gold standard for school comedies but also was a MASSIVE hit at the box office. A sequel had to be made, but was the R rating preventing the concept from reaching a larger audience? With this PG-13 sequel, the producers embark on a surreal (INSANE) journey to transform frat comedy into something that will appeal to preteens...
Our returning team is Steve Guttenberg, Bubba Smith, David Graf, Michael Winslow, Bruce Mahler, & Marion Ramsey - as they're recruited by George Gaynes' brother to take on a violent gang. The sanitization includes dropping the Latin lothario cadet & Leslie Easterbrook to remove most of the sexual content. Bringing in a supporting cast known for their…

Review by Mark Mooney ★★★
"Don't make me flare my nostrils!" - Zed
The goofy oddballs in blue tangle with spray-painting punks (led by Bobcat Goldthwait) in this rather entertaining second flick, while it's not peak comedy stuff- it features a cast of fun characters and at 90 mins it doesn't outstay its welcome. with Steve Guttenberg, Bubba Smith and Michael Winslow.

Review by Amos Lange ★★★ 7

Lavelle’s sound effects will never NOT be hilarious

Review by Keith Grubb ★★★
In a strange mood tonight and couldn't make up my mind what to watch, went through YouTube, Netflix, Prime, everything, nothing tickled my fancy. Eventually I decided to revisit one of my favourite cinema experiences. Summer holidays, Great Yarmouth, 1985, my old man could laugh, not a giggle, a deep hearty, often uncontrollable laugh. That night I thought we were going to have to call an ambulance, the whole cinema was in a hysterical uproar, not at the film, but at my old man on his knees in the aisle. It was an amazing night, 80 plus minutes of him pissing himself laughing and remains one of my fondest cinema memories. The scenes where the asshole sergeant Art Metrano has…
