How to Set a Static IP for an HP LaserJet
By Ruri Ranbe
Some HP LaserJet models ship with HP Embedded Web Server that, if a computer is connected to the LaserJet, can access the internal software to configure the device. If your business uses a centralized print server, you can assign a static IP to a LaserJet. Static IP addresses, unlike dynamic IP addresses, do not change. If a printer uses a static IP, the workstations in your office can send print jobs to the device without losing connectivity. If your printer does not come with EWS, use the printer's control panel to create a static IP.
Using the Embedded Web Server
Press the wrench-shaped icon to open the Setup screen. Use the directional buttons to select "Network Setup," and then click "OK."
Select "Print Network Config. Page," and then press "OK" to print the Network Configuration Page.
Open a browser and navigate to the address listed to the right of "URL(s) for Embedded Web Server" on the Network Configuration Page.
Click "Networking," and then choose "Network Settings" from under "Configuration."
Click the "TCP/IP" tab, and then select "Manual" from the "IP Configuration Method" drop-down menu.
Enter the new address into the appropriate field, and then click "Apply" to set the static IP.
Click "OK," and then reprint the Network Configuration page after a few minutes to confirm your changes.
Using the Control Panel
Press the "Select" button on the printer's control panel.
Use the navigation buttons to highlight "Network Config.," and then press "Select."
Highlight "TCPIP," press "Select," choose "Manual," and then press "Select" again.
Input the static IP address into the fields provided, pressing "Select" after each octet.
Press "Yes," followed by "Select" to change the IP address. Enter the subnet mask and default gateway using the same method you used to create the static IP.
The steps to configure a static IP may vary depending on the model of your HP LaserJet. If your browser uses a proxy server, you may need to disable it to access the EWS.

How to Install a Wireless Printer With an IP Address

For most home networks, a dynamic Internet Protocol address assigned to a printer is sufficient. A small business network, on the other hand, may include servers, workstations, storage devices and printers, all needing their own IP addresses. In such a busy environment, you are better off assigning a static IP address to your printer. HP LaserJet printers have an embedded Web server that allows you to make configuration changes using a browser and a networked computer.
Press and hold the "Go" button on the printer for five seconds. A configuration page listing the LaserJet's current IP address will be printed.
Open a Web browser on a computer connected to the same network as the HP LaserJet.
Type the current IP address of the LaserJet listed on the configuration page into the address bar on your Web browser and press "Enter" to open the HP printer's embedded Web server.
Select the "Networking" tab from the HP configuration screen.
Click "Network Settings" on the left side of the screen.
Select the "TCP/IP" tab.
Click the drop-down menu under "IP Configuration Method" and select "Manual."
Enter a new IP address in the box that appears.
Click "Apply" at the bottom of the screen.
Wait five minutes or longer for the printer to apply the settings and reset itself. Press and hold the "Go" button for five seconds to print another configuration page; it should now list the static IP address of the HP LaserJet.

How to Configure the IP Address of a HP Laserjet 2015

Setting up a network printer has a number of advantages. Once the network printer is in place, users will be able to share system resources. Instead of buying every employee his or her own desktop printer, business owners can use a network printer like the HP LaserJet 2015 as a single shared resource. Setting a static IP address on the printer, allows users to access the printer from anywhere in the office.
